It is now October, and some of you may be feeling a little impacted by the amount of work that needs to be done.
You have a lot more work than you did when you lived at home with your parents. Along with all of your studying that you have to do, you also have to take care of yourself.
While you were in high school, the speed and the amount of information, that was necessary to get a decent grade, was completely different than what you’re experiencing now.
Now you are having to do your laundry or, having enough money to pay a laundry service to do it, but you still have to organize it.
Plus, you have to make time to get to dining services, in between your class schedule hours. Uber Eats and Door Dash gets to be expensive, and with the dorms, your food may get lost.
Above all, you have to make time for studying, while dealing with living in student housing.
We’ve been there, so basically I’m going to make some suggestions that should help ease a little of your time management skills
You have to create a timeline or a schedule, so that you can balance your time.
If you have difficulties with time management, I’m sure there’s someone on campus that can help with that. You should have an academic help center somewhere on campus. Take advantage of it! You’ve paid for it.
Go to office hours. The professors want you to do well. You’re carrying on their work. They don’t want to fail you. They have to be demanding because you will move on to employers who will expect you to be well-prepared in your work.
Get some sleep. Get some food in your system. Take a walk outside. Breathe.
Don’t be afraid to take a risk and speak to a classmate. They may be, or ARE, going through the same thing.
I’m sure other posters will add to this list.
