Hi I am an immigrant from India and hold Green Card. My daughter is in India and will be migrating to US Texas next year after completing her 12th Class. She got 1010 in SAT and TOEFL is awaited. Will she get admission in UT Arlington or UT at Dallas for Computer Engineering. Is she be admitted as international student or In state student because she will be having Green Card at the time of university start date
This is probably very late - I’m guessing green card holding doesn’t qualify for in state tuition. What happened?
Her SAT scores are too low for pre-engineering admission, though UTA does have a summer bridge program for students who have low scores.
She may be able to start in general studies, get good grades, then be able to declare an engineering major.
Alternatively, and much more cheaply, have her start at a Texas community college that has an articulation agreement with UTA. I lived in Houston, so I know Houston Community College and Lone Star College both have open enrollment pre-engineering programs with guaranteed transfer to UTA engineering school.
She wants to shoot for Phi Kappa Theta membership at a community college. Guaranteed $2000 transfer scholarship.
Check Dallas area community colleges for transfer agreements.
Your daughter could start taking Lone Star College or Houston CC colleges right now, in Indian, doing online work that is required for a Texas public university diploma.
As long as she sticks to the articulation agreement, it is guaranteed to transfer. Take things like Texas history, English composition, sociology, economics, Western civilization, art appreciation, US history - the required general education courses.
