High School Class of 2013

NYU, I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to graduate haha. And no super hard classes
And I can not use subject notebooks because I somehow always tend to lose the papers I need, but on the bright side, most of the binders I used last year are in perfect condition. Mainly because I used em for like a week…

Really! Actually, that doesn’t surprise me. I’m like the black sheep in all my classes, I organize everything differently.

In 6th grade we had to have 2inch binders in all classes (6) and it was ridiculous. No bags allowed, so I had to carry around binders I never used, then rushing to my locker to get the next ones. I always have hated carrying a lot of things but had to rush to catch my bus, so I was worried i’d bring home the wrong binder or worse, not bring any home at all and just not do HW. I like having all of my resources at my fingertips when I want/need them. Sayonara, binders.

Now i’m down to my school planner (which I rip pages out of and recycle once that week is done), a 5-subject notebook (1 section per subject minus Spanish and JROTC, because they’re handout-only classes), and a 7-folder accordion (the ones that are closed with a cord, I removed mine for easy access). My folder fills up in 2~3 cycles so I clean it out and file it all away in manila folders, 1 per class, in chronological order. It’s easy, yo.

I feel bad for people who haul around so much junk, haha. I carry maybe 5lbs. on my back, and that’s if I bring my netbook with me as well.

^I haul a lot of required junk and it weighs 5 pounds…

Busy lately! Anyway I start September 10

I don’t do school shopping. I bought mead NoteBinders 2 years ago and they are the best creation ever! I recommended it to everyone. L I need is folders & mechanical pencils ( I don’t use wooden pencils)

And idk if my classes are hard tbh lol. I have AP lit, AP gov’t/ AP economics, AP psych, gym, teens & tots and probability and statistics. I suck at math so we’ll see how that goes. And I’ll be in school 9-1 for half the year then 9-12:10

I’m so excited for senior year :D. Have you guys started on college apps? I know it sounds stupid but idk where/how to start…lmao.

^Just work on your common app essays. I haven’t started yet

Same, I hate wooden pencils :stuck_out_tongue: and I use an expandable folder too, but the one that zips closed with a mesh pocket in the front so I can put pencials and stuff in there and then I just carry a string backpack to put my waterbottle, gym clothes, calculator, ect ect…
As for college apps, I really just want the Common App to come out already lol. Although i’m still narrowing down my list i’ll be applying to

Blech, I may have to start senior year in a cast. I get another one today because the MRI showed a fracture. If I only need the cast for another 4 weeks, I’ll get it off right before school starts. If I need it for 8 weeks, I’ll get it off a couple weeks after schools starts.

On the bright side, at least they have awesome cast colors. I think I’ll get a tie die cast today. They have this really cool yellow, blue, and pink tie die cast color. They have a camo color one.

^you’re lucky that you get to switch colors. I had the same pink one the whole time I had a cast. I don’t remember how long I had it on though.

I actually love completely sharpened new wooden pencils. they’re so much fun to write with for some reason :D

The first was blue. Waterproof Casts only last up to 5 weeks so they have to change it.

What’d you fracture?

The scaphoid (the bone right under my thumb).

Oooooo, oww.

Freshie year my backpack was super full and super heavy (big binders for seven classes and some textbooks). Last year, I pretty much shoved everything into four small folders and carried around a small pack of paper and my calculator in another pocket :3

I remember Freshman/Sophomore years when my bookbag literally had one folder, two one inch notebooks, and that’s it. That changed last year with all the textbooks I had to haul around. I’ma try to lighten up my load again this year because the last few days of school were heaven after turning in all my textbooks and having like a 2 pound backpack.

Yea my junior year bag was a string bag that usually had some pens and pencils.

Then I had my binder which was thick but actually had very few papers in it (there was like an extra 1.5 inches of space :P) and Japanese notebook.

I dunno about string bags. I love my North Face bag. The best part is the hard-shell back, because I lean my back against my bag when I sit down and AAAAAAAAH FEELS SO GOOD (also I can take all my stuff out without it losing its shape). The thing is freakin’ indestructable and resistant to the elements. Best $60 I ever spent.

Haha looking up the North Face bag right now :D

I just use a large purse and carry textbooks. We have block schedules so there are only 4 classes a day. All of the binders fit in the purse. I used a Jansport backpack when I was on crutches (after having surgery). It worked well.

one of the kids in my APUSH class once said that if someone has a really heavy backpack they were wither and overachiever or a freshmen.

I could never use a string back or a purse. I like my spacious backpack. makes life easier
