Seeing everyone’s schedules for next year–all I can say is wow! I would probably go insane if I had to double on sciences, but I guess that’s sort of why it’s my weakness!

It’s depressing realizing my weakness in biology, considering I’m pretty good at math. It’s so hard to figure out what I want to be if I can’t seem to find a passion in anything!

This year:
AP Biology
Honors Alg2/Trig
Honors English
Art
Spanish 1
Tennis

Next Year:
Spanish 2
AP Euro
AP Physics
Honors English
Honors Precalc
Tennis

Geez, AP Bio as a freshman? Bio/Honours Bio is a prereq. At our school.

My sophomore schedule is :

Latin 2
French 2
Acc. Chemistry
Acc. Algebra 2
AP Biology
Acc. World Civilizations
Acc. English 2

Self Study:
AP English Lit
AP U.S. Government and Politics
AP World History
AP Chemistry
AP Psychology
AP Micro/Macro Economics
and Spanish

(My course load will be very easy at school. Latin is ridiculous and I will do most of the homework over the summer. AP Biology is just notes and reading every night. And I’m an ACE at all things English/Reading/Writing. )

Afdamron, I’m sure you feel you’re capable, but self studying all those APs really could be a problem. Chem and Lit are especially difficult (even more so as self-studies). I’ve never heard of anyone doing so many. I’d advise dropping two or three. However, if you feel you’re up to the (enormous) challenge, more power to you.

Update: My parents urged me to sign up for a meaningful summer camp, but I fear I’ve waited (procrastinated) for too long. Instead, I’ll be doing a science and tech camp where I teach kids about STEM fields (that is, if I make it through the application process). Should I get in, I’ll be paid ten dollars an hour for my services. It sounds like an absolute blast!

Also, I’ve got a lot of money to spend since I didn’t sign up for a camp… I’m thinking I’ll take math analysis over the summer then take Calc BC as a sophomore. Am I insane? :D

Btw, Evan, are you of British descent? I noticed you spelled ‘Honors’ with a ‘u’.

for soph year i got the option to take ap chem but i didnt is that bad?? im doing ap stats, and for everything else highest level classes- still level 1 chem but not ap uuggh I feel like I should have done ap!

Whats your opinion on biology vs. chem, just wondering? i HATED biology so im hoping i’ll enjoy chem, has anyone taken a chemistry class yet and is it more interesting than bio?

I’m jealous my school offers the worst classes compared to these… but next year
English 10A (advanced honors)
AP Statistics
Advanced Honors
US History Advanced Honors
Spanish III Level 1
Photography/Drawing&Painting/3D Design (i won’t find out which i made it into till next year! but i’m hoping for photography)
PE ugh

@studious that whole camp thing sounds really cool! What’s the one you didn’t sign up for? This summer I’m rebuilding homes for a week with my church
I’m really looking forward to giving back, because I’m blessed with so much. You know?
Oh and @evanh isn’t necessarily British… I lived in Europe when I was younger and my parents spell things like honors and favorite with a u so I did too for a while… I’m just weird though… Well maybe he is British
that would make more sense…

@jennay I don’t think not taking AP chem will be a big deal, I’m taking IB chem next year which is probably similar… And I plenty of great students who aren’t going to, so if it isn’t your strength why hurt your GPA? And also AP stats?? Dang, what math are you in now?

By meaningful I meant productive, not charitable. I missed the deadline for a computer programming camp at American University. Although a service project sounds awesome too!

@Studious ahh I didn’t even think to look into camps at AU! (I live in the area)

Lol, where is American University? I feel really dumb for asking this.

@evanh DC
don’t feel stupid for asking lol

@jereve, you lived in europe when you were younger? where? paris?
My mom worked in Europe for several years when she was a grad. student. she loves it.

Hey where do you guys want to go to college? I kind of really want to go to an ivy. It sounds crazy I know. and it’s unheard of in our area. so idk, but I will try. I’m tired of mediocrity around me.

@luv2sk8 I’ll PM you I don’t really want to put it all out there lol

Like I’ve said before, probably Northeastern. Maaybe Cornell.

@jerevedeparis if youre wondering… advanced algebra 2 and geometry, and i know it’s not a big deal i just hate missing opportunities haha i worry WAY too much about college

ADo any of you know anyone in mit? my friends brother had perfect SAT scores- i mean PERFECT hes on varsity golf, got like 10 academic awards, national honors society, french national honors society, max honors, basically i dont know how anyone can get better than him… and he didnt get into MIT. maybe he wasn’t their type, or are they just super super selecitve?

@jennay that happens all the time… Colleges don’t just look at that stuff, they look for an overall perfect fit. Though that is very disheartening… I guess we all have to just try our best

Cornell <3 pretty much my dream. I want to apply early to the school of Human Ecology…

And today I found out that only 50% of people from my school go onto college… Geeeee great, right
