High School Class of 2014

About MIT, I have the feeling that they need girls. I know some people who are so perfect but couldn’t get in, but a girl who got 1s in two of her APs and got in MIT. There are probably tons of guys who want to be in MIT, considering what it is good for, but girls are rare. so if you are a girl and want to do science/engineering, try MIT. That’s what I guessed and what I was told. unfortunately science is not my cup of tea.

@jereve, my school is no better. and when they go to college, they don’t even try to go to a good one - i mean super good one like ivies.

@luv2sk8 Same /: on my schools website it has a list of schools that the graduating class got into last year… The only “super good” colleges were Tufts, Cornell, Upenn, and Notre Dame. I’m
Pretty sure that those 4 schools were applied to by the same 2 people… Wooo… At least Princeton can be added to the list this year…

I wish my school had a list like that. I know a girl who’s going to CalTech, but that’s it as far as I know for upper calibre schools. Well, we’ve got quite a few going to Vanderbilt, if that counts.

We’re ranked somewhere in the 80s or 90s according to the latest poll. It’s like two schools in one, though-- the Pre-AP/AP Track, with all these really smart/driven students who’ve gone on to Princeton, Standford, NYU, CalTech, Duke, Harvard, etc…and then the Regular track which is for the very ghetto students who have about a 50% chance of even graduating.

I’d love to got to Vanderbilt. wistful sigh I’m not aiming for Ivies, but I want to go somewhere near the east with a very respectable education that won’t send me into too much debt.

So, my high school started exams today. I got a 100 on history. :). When does your school start exams?

CONGRATS  mine start on Monday ): wait are you talking about state exams or finals? I’m volunteering for this nonprofit at my school allllllll of tomorrow… So I won’t get to study like I want to… We only have geometry, world history 2, and bio this year! Which actually makes me sad because I’ve never scored below 100 on English… But I’m going to try for 100s on bio and world.

Mine go through june 6-8, and then we get out :)

I’m feeling pretty good about French and Biology, kind of scared of History and English… I know I’ll ace Geometry though

@hepps I’m assuming these are finals? GOOD LUCK regardless :)

Ours are June 6th-9th. We’ve already taken the only state exam freshmen have to take (Alg 1, Geometry, or Alg 2 depending on where you stand coming in from middle school) but we still have 8 teacher-made finals to go. I’m only worried about Health because it’s all arbitrary memorization, even though it’s a blow-off class, and I guess I’m a little concerned about Science. Good luck everyone!

@emerald I’m sorry about health! All of our health tests are open note and our final will be too… But shhh I could never memorize all of that :3 good luck!

The Virginia Standards of Learning tests have been going on for about two weeks now. I feel good about my Biology and World History tests (I know I passed both too). Only Algebra 2 to go… As for exams, ours aren’t until the last week of school… It sucks.

Some of our finals will be very intense (Geography, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and French) but some (Latin and Math) are letting us use our notes! So lucky! We get out thr 31st of the month.

@studious I thought we all took SOLs at the same time :3 have you heard anything about geometry? I’m really really scared that I’m going to fail :3 how did bio and world go?

@jereve-- I was referring to finals. Sorry if that wasnt clear. I’m only worried about biology and geometry. Everything else I can pretty much fail and get an A in the class.

@Evan the only final I’m worried about is geometry! And French… Just because my teacher is going to expect close to 100 from me :3

@jereve: The SOLs are a joke. You’ll do fine.

@canonlyhope thanks for saying that  but there have been some crazy circumstances for math this year… And on top of those, I’ve had health problems this year… But thanks :)

@jereve–im sure my Latin teacher feels the same way. Cupio facere 100, sed non ero…fortasse.

UPDATE: I did get a 100 on my Latin exam. :)
