My district got rid of all +'s and -'s years ago. Grading scale as follows:

A - 90-100

B - 80-89

C - 70-79

D - 60-69

F - Anything under 59

It’s actually relatively lucky and slightly unfair to have such a scale. One can go about with a 90 and have the same final grade as someone with a 100.

^Your last sentence is why I prefer a plus/minus system. It further specifies the grade someone earned.

Today was my first day of school, and it was a real bore. PE was dull, Math Analysis was actually really fun (as we built structures to prevent an egg within from breaking), AP Biology was intimidating and tiresome, and AP World History was pretty hard (my teacher already gave us a few assignments). I got most of the teachers I wanted, though!

I’ll give my teacher/class report when I have my second day of classes.

^What you said about Math Analysis is something that we are about to do in Honors Physics. We are doing the “Egg Drop” unit assessment tomorrow and we have to build a structure to prevent the egg from breaking, based on the formulas and figures we are given. I feel that it’ll be fun in Honors Physics this semester. My teacher is trying to do some amazing things, including taking us to an amusement park or something to study the physics of different rides (roller coasters, free falls, etc.)

Another comment on Math Analysis: It looks like it’s going to be very hard. We learn Pre-calculus in two quarters, something usually taught in four. Then, for the last two quarters, we learn Calculus I (limits, derivatives, etc). However, I love math, so I’m actually really excited!

Precalc and Calc 1 in the same year. I wish I could do that, but I’m doing Precalc Algebra this semester and Precalc Trig next semester, then Honors Calc and AP Calc AB next year.

My district actually has been debating many unconventional grading ideas, such as getting rid of the GPA system all together, replacing letter grades with “Pass” or “Fail” grades, getting rid of weighted GPAs, etc. Pass-Fail would be interesting to experience, though I doubt fun. Just interesting.

@anaychi: Pass/Fail? Don’t do they do that in college for affirmative action students? I don’t think that’ll look good to colleges if you have a bunch of passes with no indication of achievement in the class.

Since I haven’t been really taught by my teachers yet (administrative materials for the first couple of days), I’ll postpone my teacher/class report until the end of the week.

I’m getting my schedule Thursday, but I’m pretty sure that I know what my schedule will look like.

Honors Spanish 3
Honors Chem Study
Honors English
Honors Algebra 2 (And possible pre-calc if I take it online. The online courses can be taken in a trimester format, and they offer summer sessions. So Alg 2 part 1-First Trimester, Alg 2 part 2- Second Trimester, Pre-calc Part 1 - Third Trimester, Pre-calc Part 2- Summer Session ( 8 weeks)
Honors Us History (Possibly AP, If I take it online)
Gym/Second year computer class =( ( I really hope I can take AP macro/micro Economics online instead, but if I have 3 online classes I’ll have to get a seat time waver)

What time do you all go to bed and wake up in the morning, for school?

Oh, and I’ll probably post a report of my teachers next Friday. Not two days from now Friday. Cause school starts for me in six days. Seven, depending on how you count it.

I go to bed any time from 10:30 PM to 2:30 AM, and wake up at 6:00 AM daily. It’s awful. My school starts at 9:00 AM but my bus comes at 7:50 AM. School gets out at 3:50 PM.

I usually sleep around 10:30, and I tend to wake up 5:40-5:50. Our school starts earlier this year due to cost-cutting in their usage of buses, so my bus comes around 6:40 and school starts 7:05.

Jealous of people who go to bed at 10…
It depends on the homework load and if I have practice or not, but normally I go to bed anywhere from 11:30 to 1:30am. I wake up at 6 and school starts at 7:40. bleeeehhhh

I go to bed between 10:00 to 11:00 pm and I wake up between 6:30 to 7:00. I don’t have to be at school until 8:10. School ends at 3:35, but I have band practice until 6:00.
