Yeah I get junk mail from colleges (and my mom gets excited.) i can’t even check my email anymore.

I wouldnt mind some junk mail as i have yet to get any. Unless
FREE Constitution Course! From Hillsdale College!
or
junk from my parents alma mater counts

For some reason contrary to what many people think almost all the kids in the MS Gulf Coast (where i live) are gay friendly even without a student LGBT or G.S.A.

Without Girl Scouts of America? ;)

@Teaspoons my school’s G.S.A. Is not like that at all…it has about 30 students, I’d say 25 gays and 5 straights. We are really active in fundraising, as in March we attend a conference at Stony Brook, and we have fundraise for it. Also, the club supervisor is the school dean, (She’s married to a woman), so she certainly wouldn’t let us hang around doing nothing lol

Oh and my got my report card today!

^Haha, too funny. Come on, admit it. You`re the one who wanted to know how it was possible to be in both at once.

Ha, enjoy Thanksgiving everyone. Good food, family, sounds good.

Lol I’ve received none from colleges, is it a bad thing?

I’ve gotten nothing so far. However, I took the PSAT about a month ago and felt really, really good about it, so I’m feeling that I’ll recieve some soon.

I haven’t been up here in a while! I have been going from sleep to study, sleep to study haha it’s been crazy! I got all As first six weeks which all As first six weeks whichI was happy about but it looks like I will get aB in calculus this time but I hope I can pull it up. I guess I am more concerned about ap exams than grades, I really want all 5s but probably won’t happen but I’ll try.
@shmluza I’m in AP Chem too! It’s been rough but fun. I don’t now I have made it but somehow I am still breathing
I also do science Olympiad like some of you. This year I’m doing fermi questions, chem lab and material science. Fermi questions is so random! I don’t now now I a going to study for it!
I had my first debate two weeks ago and it was great. Even though I only won 2/4 I had a good time arguing haha
I hope everyone has a good Thanksiving

AP Bio is killing me. I barely have an A in that class, and our test on cellular respiration is Tuesday. I’m so screwed.

@lulloftheocean, would you rather get junk or would you rather get nothing? :D

@aka, I have that feeling with AP chem.

^yeah I have a B in honors chem so…

it is so nice to see all of you so worried so soon! i wish i was that motivated when i was a freshman in high school! keep working hard! eye on the prize!

I received my first college letter the other day… It was from the local community college which tends to take all the 1.0-2.5 gpa kids …
… I felt really good about my PSAT too… Didn’t study thought it was pretty easy…
hopefully my score went up from my last SAT score …

My report card was like… 3 bs and 3 as… But since it doesn’t really affect what goes on my transcript or what colleges see then I don’t really mind…

Also, I’m thinking about taking AP Chem… (Probably senior year) but… I never took honors chem (and don’t plan on it) but I was just wondering how hard the material really is. I would dedicate time over the summer to try and learn stuff (from videos online and from ap practice books)… I never took Chem because I just didn’t understand making the equations equal… It’s a bad reason I know but I really want to work my way towards Val or sal (if I don’t make it it’s cool; so long as I know I did my best) and get college credit and look more appealing to the colleges I’m applying to (like icing on the cake… It’s not a necessity) .

So what do you guys think?

So I’ve heard a lot of negative things about American humour, and I think it’s really interesting to see the difference in attitudes between the UK and US.

It is actually really annoying when word tells me I’ve spelled humour, colour, civilisation etc wrong!

That
s because Word
s American, where those words are spelled wrong. Colour just seems weird. Labour, colour, etc, etc. Color, labor, etc, etc. In my world, that is.

Odour, vapour, neighbour, favour, so many!

Anyway, as the link had to be deleted (sorry!) I should probably make the original point clear. We get the stereotype here that Americans ‘don’t get’ proper humour, in particular sarcasm and our personal favorite, self deprecation. Do you guys feel the same way? Have any of you watch any British comedy programmes? (If not, Blackadder is compulsory viewing and Mock the Week is brilliant).

I don’t really see a big difference. Yeah we show different humor on tv but I think we still laugh at the same things. The only British humor I’ve seen are these old movies in a series called Carry on… It’s pretty … Amusing , not laugh out loud funny… But bridesmaids was laugh out loud funny.

Also, Webster (I believe) came from England and just wrote his own dictionary and changed things he saw no need for (the ou). He wanted an American Language so as not to stay connected to England
