Personally I couldn’t live in a rural area because I love the upbeat feel of the city. I feel like life is always moving forward in a city (not to bash rural areas or anything, that’s just how I feel). Rural places can also be very isolated (small town feel) and I like feeling like I am a part of a huge community. I also HATE the quiet. I love the peacefulness and the natural beauty, but I need some hustle and bustle in my life.

@Teaspoons, I totally agree. I feel like country life might hold me back in school and finding opportunities to explore.

And I’d love a Samsung Galaxy SIII for Christmas…or a job, to be honest. :)

@CE527M I might like it for a little bit, but my athletic opportunities with soccer would be limited. I dunno, I guess I just like the city more. I live in the suburbs, but I visited Chicago once and really enjoyed it.

@Teaspoons…eh, we’ve actually got a lot of AP classes, and have this Governor’s school program for really smart people in math and science, but I know every area isn’t like ours is.

We no longer have Val/Sal/rankings in general.

@Shaywood…chuckle Yeah, I know what you mean. Good place to grow up though. But I do want to live in the city at some point.

@Awflapjackz…Really? That’s kind of funny because around here we’ve actually got a good soccer program. The soccer team at my school is pretty good (Boy’s team won regionals last year…dunno about the Girl’s) and they have a good travel team around here too.

@CE527M The rural areas in my state lack good clubs or school teams, unfortunately. /: But that’s probably the main reason why I’d prefer a suburb or city.

Our school has so many APs. I think every class is offered except Human Geography and one of the Physics APs.

@cem I’m not rural, and to add to the discussion, I’d go insane In a rural setting. My towns like 25k population. We have no movie theater though. The nearest in one is down the freeway in Palm Springs. (25 minutes from my house according to google maps.) oh and side question to everyone, is it true that only Californians say freeway and everyone exclusively uses highway.

@teaspoons we currently have a three way tie (possibly 4 way depending on how the grading system changed over the summer)
First there’s that one girl I compared you to in the other thread. (Sorry again but it’s a legit comparison)
Then there’s this one really quiet girl. She almost never talks. Aside from her close friends, im the only one who can engage her in a full conversation. She’s really nice though. Ill always tease her, but if someone actually insults her ill always tell them to knock it off.

Then there’s this one girl that I used to have a crush on. She’s pretty and decently popular. And she puts up a pretty good facade of normality. But when people talk to me they always open up, and she’s actually really weird and downloads people’s pictures on Facebook and puts them in albums. (That killed the attractiveness.)

Oh and a person who isn’t currently one but stands a good chance is this one guy who I used to be friends with and now we have kinda a antagonistic friendship. He is my opposite: really quiet, school oriented, puts 100% effort, stereotypical nerd.

This was long, but yeah that’s our valedictorian competition.

I feel like sophomore year is harder than freshman year. My grades aren’t up to the par that I would want them to be. Does anyone else feel the same?

But, this year I joined a lot of the ECs which I just didn’t get a chance to join last year. It feels a little odd since I’m a “newbie” as a sophomore, but it is still a lot of fun. I really love everything that I have chosen to do.

@goodnoodle She download pics on Facebook and puts them in an album?! That’s weirddd

Ok so do you guys think I should try out for color guard for next year?

Pro:
-Our team is really good and win lots of awards.
Like 99% of my friends are on it. I feel left out haha
-Get to know more people
-Exercise lol
-A new experience

Con:
-Have to spend a week over the summer for training
-Have to stay after school 3x a week until 5pm. This could interfere with my junior year schoolwork, but color guard stops after November so I might be able to hold on till then.
-I can’t join ANY clubs until after Football season ends. Which means I won’t be able to run for any leadership positions because it’ll be too late
-I’ll have to go to every football game

So what do you guys think? If you were me what would you do?

color guard schedule would drive me crazy. I wouldn’t do it. I’d rather do a lot of other things. but that’s me. it’s up to you. if you love it, go ahead.

@CEM, do you live in NC by any chance? I’ve never heard of governor school except here and a senior was talking about how she put it on her college app but she thought the instate schools would realize the prestige while of state wouldn’t know too much about it.

Um whoever said nobody says ‘freeway’ on the east coast I’m not sure that’s true. The east coast is the only place I’ve ever lived with toll booths (you have to pay to drive on the highway), and so people use the term freeway to describe the highways that you don’t have to pay… But if you live in an area with just freeways its kind of redundant to use the term…

@goodnoodle, no ones really gotten competitive yet since we’re only sophomores… Junior and senior year get way more competitive (one kid jumped from #1 to #8 even though he had straight a’s, juniors and seniors tend to pack on the APs). Right now I’m 3rd but it’s just counting last school year where I only took one ap and two standard classes (gym and French II). I’ve also found that a lot of the upperclassmen are super modest about their rank, most of the top 10 kids I’ve met either refuse to tell their rank or just try not to mention it… It made me step back a second since when I’d gotten my transcript (with my rank on it) I was so happy I told a few of my friends… Not that’s it’s bad to tell, but I think I’m realizing I should be a bit more modest about all of it… Especially when things start to get more competitive.

There’s to be a royal baby, oh dear. There are 5 things related to it trending on twitter already. At least there’s a chance of another national holiday :)

Yeah, basically just show and public unity I guess. She technically has the power to prevent any act of parliament being passed, but if she used this power in any time other than a dictator takeover I’m pretty sure she would just be booted out. The younger royals have basically just become national celebrities :)

@Teaspoons…I was the one who sid about no one saying freeway on the East Coast:) haha, for the most part, I’ve never heard anyone say it (unless they weren’t born on the East Coast).

@teaspoons we have “state highways” but I’ve never heard anyone use highway. Everyone says freeway to refer to all interstates, tolls, high ways etc. I think sometimes well say toll roads when referring to those.

@ukgirl will you guys serioulys get a holiday for that? Thanks for telling us though. I didn’t know that Kate was pregnant.
