High School Class of 2015

I sense some deep conflict here.

I don’t play or enjoy any sports but tennis. :D

Because they don’t? Why do only rubbish Americans play rugby? (sorry, couldn’t resist XD)

I like watching tennis, cannot play it for my life. Got a 3/10 on it in my GCSE assesment :D

Oh…tennis and me…oh no…that includes table tennis, I leaned to far over the old table in gym (it was seriously about 20-30 years old) and the thing fell over.

I don’t know why we don’t play Rugby. Looks like fun, but I don’t get that thing where the two teams run up and push each other like this: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ULjwiyRXQ48/S_yk6HJvKHI/AAAAAAAAAOU/SY5Dh0bF8dc/s1600/_44181384_eng_sa_scrum416.jpg</a>. Why do they do that?

It’s a scrum, to start off new plays. Each team pushes against each other with the ball beneath them, gaining ground as they go until the team who’ve managed to get the ball kick it out.
I’m no expert, but I’ve been to a few matches including the women’s world cup final!

^oh ok .

It doesn’t make much sense until you’ve watched it a few times. Both my younger brothers play, and they have much smaller matched, so that helped me work it out.

Merlin update: Just one more episode for tonight! I’ll be finished just after 2, but I’m already falling asleep :/

Rugy is AWESOME!
I play Flanker. Im also my teams jumper!

there are like 8 youth teams in all of the southeast!

The scrum is awesome.

UK, is it true that most female rugby players arent interested in males?

Wow, way to stereotype…

^^couldve said gay…no reason for subtlety.

Interesting discussion guys…

While we’re on the subject, how gay friendly are your schools? Out school is known for being more gay friendly than Palm Springs high. We have a lot of openly gay students and teachers, and no one says anything to them. We don’t even have a GSA anymore because the students decided there was no need for it anymore.

My school attracts very open minded people. Parents and students alike feel comfortable in the school community because we are very accepting. Our director is actually gay, and her partner works in the school. Their daughters both attend it.

“While we’re on the subject…”

Goodnoodle, ya crack me up!

Uh…well we don’t have a GSA, and I’d say 95% of kids at my school are straight (unless there’s a lot of people who haven’t come out). But everyone’s tolerant and all

Well I guess, it’s a big stereotype but is probably true for many of them :)

Gay friendly? Not really… There have been a lot of issues over girls going to prom and dances together, but except from that the school and teachers are very friendly. We don’t have any openly gay teachers and the few students that are out aren’t really accepted. Probably two thirds of the school is accepting, but the other third is not, at all. One of my best friends is like this, and I just don’t get it at all.

Our old headteacher was pretty openly a lesbian, but a lot of students still didn’t catch on :)

haha UK, elaborate on the Headteacher part.

I think everything i post is controversal in some way shape or form. Except maybe the advice thread.

Lets see, gay friendly…I live in Mississippi and the place is extremely liberal among youth. Lets see most are fine as long as they arent around it. Also, the high schools in this area dont have Gsa or lgbt because the schools only allow academic clubs.

The catholic high school is accepting and that shouldnt be a surprise if one is to know Catholic teaching.

Goodnoodle i have a question, here it is rare to hear gay slurs, despite around 1/3 of the youth being against homosexuality. (not hate, just think its unnatural ftmp). However, in the extremely gay friendly places i have stepped in, It is completely regular to hear gay slurs

The headmistress is actually a quaker, and I guess she is pretty stereotypical gay. Also I think she’d told the board or some of the parents or something. Either way, all the parents knew and the majority of the girls, although she hadn’t actually said anyhting to us. Weirdly enough, it was the people who are anti-gay that didn’t realise. I guess because they think normal people wouldn’t be gay. My friend in particular is always surprised when I mention someone being out or similar, she actually thought thre were no gay people at our school at all until a few months ago!
I don’t know if it’s different because we’re a girls’ school :)

Merlin update: Just over an episode left to watch, and over 3 hours to do it in! I will actually do this :D

I think I talked about my school’s G.S.A. Before, but anyways I think ours is the largest on the island (and there are over 120 public high schools here, even excluding Brooklyn and Queens). We have a lesbian dean who runs it. Because of this my schools pretty gay-friendly. Most of the kids I know who are anti-gay are quiet about it. Oh and I’m pretty sure my Algebra 2/Trig teacher is gay. He’s going to be running the GSA next year when the dean retires.
