Certainly won’t be staying in Texas. (Not from here.) Utterly despise it. Love the New York/New Jersey area. Grandparents live a few minutes from Rutgers NB and I’ve been to the campus billions of times (more than not to catch a train to NYC, admittedly.)

Student Council (9, 10)
Junior Civitan (10)
Beta Club (10)
Teen Board @ County Children’s Shelter
Model Regional Commission (only 7 people got in from my whole county - very, very populous county)
Programs Manager @ Greening Forward (spectacular environmental non-profit org)
Math Team/Mu Alpha Theta
Science Olympiad
Academic Team
Reading with dyslexic kids twice a week (this is so much fun!)

Summer:
Volunteering at two hospitals

So far I have 236 community service hours. By the end of this summer, I should have at least 328 community service hours. If you couldn’t tell, I love volunteering. It’s been a passion of mine forever, and it really opened my eyes to how interconnected the human race is.

@Nathan: Those classes are very similar to what I had this year. Good luck!

I have these classes next year:

AP Biology
AP Language
AP European History
AP Psychology
Honors Pre Calc
Honors US History

I am getting all of the humanity classes out of the way next year. Then I plan on focusing on my Med school goals by taking three science classes senior year.

Hey guys
I want to know if I am on the right track to getting into any of the UCs.

Freshman year Classes & GPA:

Pre-IB Language Arts 1- A-, A-
AP Human Geography- A, A (most likely a 5, but maybe a 4 on exam)
Spanish 1- A+, A+
Geometry Honors- A+, A+
Biology Honors- A, A+
Ath Basketball- A, A

So my unweighted academic GPA is a 4.0, and my weighted is 4.2 (regular/honors/pre-IB classes aren’t weighted and AP classes are worth 5 points)

My ECs:

Library volunteer- About 20 hours
Hospital volunteer- About 70 hours
I have been in a religion Sunday school since Kindergarten

Sophomore year schedule:

Pre-IB Language Arts 2
Spanish 2
AP European History
AP Biology
Algebra 2/Trig Honors
Chemistry Honors (chem honors is the only weighted honors class that UCs recognize)
Ath Basketball (not sure if I am doing a sport next year becuase I dont want to overwhelm myself)

Also, any ideas for more ECs because I barely have any.

And I also forgot to add that I am on the Science Olympiad team, and I am thinking of joining the Academic Decathalon team.
I am also starting a Pre-Med Club next year

Pre-Med as in HOSA?

Im not sure. I just wanted to start something medical related. Is HOSA a good idea?

Hobbit- you are waaay ahead of me in extras. I have track, cross country, swimming, yearbook, key club, model UN, and volunteering this year. Last year though, I only had track, piano, and volunteering.

Sent from my ADR6400L using CC

My schedule is
Honors English 2
Honors Geometry
AP World History (the only AP class available to me)
Honors Biology
French 2
Digital input technologies
Speech
Yearbook 2

I had a question for those of you who have taken the biology subject/ AP test. Do you think that I could taken them with just honors bio? I want to take AP, but it isn’t available until 11th grade.

Sent from my ADR6400L using CC

I took bio honors last year and one of the finals i took for that class was supposedly very similar to the AP test. Also the text book i used for honors is a text book that some other schools use for AP.
My teacher even told me that i would have probably gotten a 4 or a 5 based on how i did in her class last year.
That being said, i would wait until you take AP Bio because they just changed the standards for the AP class/test but not for regular/honors bio
There are also a lot of essays on the test where regular or honors bio wouldnt help u with if that makes any sense

Wow HobbitTon! The volunteering and Non-profit work is really impressive.
