Are you guys just interested in the upper echelon of private schools? Do publics not interest you guys for the most part?

@anonemuss I am looking for a challenge that will pay off over the long run, and aside from Cambridge, most of the schools I’d love to go to are private. And UF, which is where my parents met.

@anonemuss - I’m personally just more inclined toward research universities (many of which are private) as opposed to liberal arts colleges. I wouldn’t say I have a bias, though.

Non-Ivies…Stanford (<3), UChicago, Duke, Berkeley, UMich, Barnard, Northwestern.

I got 19 letters from colleges today. D:

One of Duke’s merit scholarships would be a dream come true.

When the counties around you are closed, but you still have school. -.-

Is it worth it to get all of those colleges Student Guide books that they keep sending me mail about?

Lol I’ve gotten a letter from just about every S*** college i don’t want to go to, plus Johns Hopkins and a few other good colleges that I have no interest in going, plus Purdue, my dream school, yet UT Austin and Texas A&M, my 2 state schools, haven’t sent a lick in advertising.

Guys, does 4 AP’s sound manageable if you do NOT procrastinate and are a diligent worker! Also consider that this year (soph), semester 1 report cards came out and I got a 4.3 out of 4.3 UW GPA!!!

Yeah. I’m planning on taking 5-6 next year, so it should be manageable. Especially if you don’t procrastinate.

Depends on the type of person you are and what the APs are. If you’re stacking AP Physics C, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Calculus BC, for example, you’re going to have a bad time.

I’m taking 4 AP classes (well 3 I guess, BC is 2 periods) this year and unless you plan on taking all the extremely hard ones, you’ll definitely be fine. I have a 5.125 GPA on a 6 point scale. This other guy who goes to my school, who’s a freshman, has a 5.25 and I’m just like what the heck why couldn’t I take APs as a freshman.

Ha school was cancelled today and we didn’t get a flake of snow. It’s also cancelled for tomorrow!

School finally got the hint and released early on this really confusing schedule. How’s it possible that every county around you is closed (in every direction), but you aren’t?

School’s closed for me tomorrow too. This weather is nice and cold, but I would kill to have some snow pile up (I have never seen snow before in my life).

I am jealous of ALL OF YOU. It’s bitterly cold here, but I still have to go to school. =’(

@anonemuss: I haven’t really looked into colleges yet, so public miight be an option for me. I’m applying to UT Austin as a safety, although I have automatic admission because of the whole rank thing.

@catchinginfinity: I’ve been getting so many letters and emails lately, it’s ridiculous. Except they’re not really from any good colleges- just the crappy ones. I DID get a letter from Stanford the other day though, and I basically died. Also, YAY for UChicago and Stanford! <3 Both would be dreams come true for me.

@TeamRocketGrunt: I’ve been getting a few emails from them recently, and I would seriously also die for one of their merit scholarships. I’m not good enough to get one though. =P

@texanhowler: Congrats on the beautiful report card! <3 I think 4 APs is going to be extremely manageable.

Been asking around about junior year schedule. I reeeally want to take AP Econ [I THINK they break it up into AP Macro/Micro] next year, and will probably take Environmental Science as well, since it’s easier. I don’t want to have an off-block, but everybody is telling me that I should. I don’t see it as worthwhile, considering I can’t drive, and my parents won’t let me anytime soon + not pick me up early anyways. So I might as well fill up my schedule.

^no idea why the post formatting is being stupid. Ignore it, please. =P

@loltired We were out too. It didn’t start to snow until 5 or 6 in the evening. Now we don’t have Presidents Day off (which doesn’t bother me too much).
Does anyone think that AP Chem, AP Calc, and AP Physics 1 will complement each other?

It snowed, but only for five minutes here. We still have school tomorrow unless there’s some freak snowstorm tonight. Every other district near us has like 2-3 inches of snow and they’re all closed; we’re the only school district that has to attend.

@almondjoy7, I’m not good enough for one of their scholarships, either I’d literally die if I got one.

Anyone else watching SOTU?

@TeamRocketGrunt
I watched the first 10-15. Boehner looked so disinterested, and outright disrespectful. Whether he agreed or not, he should at least make the attempt to look awake.

But then I got tired and am now procrastinating work on debate.

@BarackObama interrupts the #StateoftheUnion to tell John Boehner he’s wearing an ass-ugly tie.

@BarackObama wants to nationalize healthcare, end the military campaign in the Middle East, and beat you mercilessly until you give up your guns.
