Who else is just as excited as I am for junior year? (with total sarcasm, of course) My school ended like a week ago, so I have nine weeks left. so nervous lol

@PoisonIvy20 it really depends on your school. A 98 avg would most likely be a 4.0 where I live.

@PoisonIvy20

I just take my GPA out of 4.0 UW and then multiply by 25 to get a GPA out of 100

I’m actually excited for junior year. I love taking stuff like the SAT and seeing how well I do on them. And I’ll be taking the SAT, ACT and SAT subject tests.

@Smrtical How will you be studying for both at the same time? I’m also thinking of taking the ACT along with the SAT but I have no idea how I’m going to study for both!

I already took the SAT so I’m just trying to improve my score, so that won’t be that huge of a deal. Good luck on them, though! I think I’ll take them in the fall, and the scores that I find unsatisfying I’ll retake in the spring.

Random q: Is SAT math the same as the math I subject test?

Guys, for UPenn if you take the ACT and get >33 and do SAT 2 Subject Tests and get above > 750 would it be recommended to also take the SAT?

No. If you have >33 on the ACT, don’t bother with SAT I

I decided to only take the ACT and SAT subject tests. Juniors will get a free chance to take the ACT once where I live. That won’t be until late winter or early spring though. I’ll take it another time if I need to but I’m mainly doing this to save money. SAT subject tests will be related to AP classes I’d like to take next year and I’ll take the tests most likely towards the end of the school year. The problem with this though is that I’ll have to wait until summer next year to know of I’m completely done with all testing.

Other than that. I’m pretty excited for junior year too. I know I’ll be busy which helps me stay more focused and I can’t wait to see what I’ll learn.

I know the Math 2 Subject test isn’t mandatory, but do you think that it is basically required for most schools?

^Schools don’t say which of the subject tests are required. But in general most applicants to top colleges do take it and do well on it. Have you taken it before or are planning to?

I was definitely planning to take two subject tests, but I would prefer not to take Math 2. It seems like most applicants to top colleges take Math 2 and something else, but I was planning to take Spanish and Biology.

What’s your intended major/favorite subject? Like will it be math-related? science-related? English or history? Whichever one take the subject tests that showcase your strengths in the subjects you’re interested in.

P.S. In my opinion I think colleges like to see variety (not all science, or not all English/history) so Math II is usually the way to go for most applicants to take with another subject.

Depends on the school. MIT requires two SAT 2 tests. Math Level 1 or Math Level 2 and Biology or Chemistry or Physics.

Do you think that the subject area of subject tests matter based on what you think you will major in? For example, I was planning to take USH but after a couple of failed practice tests, I decided not to go through with it and only take Math 2. I am also planning on taking the Physics subject test next year. However, I’m planning to major in Finance/Business/Econ, so should I take Literature or something more in the Humanities area? Or does it not matter? (I’m also planning to apply to Wharton)

Most top-tier colleges recommend Math II. So while it’s not mandatory, you should still take it (they’re basically hinting at you to take it).

@cso1640 I think it doesn’t matter. I’m not totally sure yet but I think I’ll want to major in education (or maybe statistics if I enjoy AP Stats class next year) and I still took SAT biology, which isn’t really related to education or statistics. In your case, math does seem important for finance though.

Wharton STRONGLY recommends the MathIIc subject test, which means the majority of applicants will not only have taken it, but will also probably have ~800s. @cso1640

Thanks @misschoding and @afroninja26
My question though was if I should take another humanities subject test since I am preparing to enter a more social sciences major rather than a hard science major (STEM). I have already taken the Math IIc test (and got an 800), so I am wondering if it matters whether I take Physics over Literature, considering my prospective major (Finance).
