High school class of 2016

@missschoding - AP Stat was so much fun! So jealous, wish I could take it again.

@cso1640‌ I’d suggest that you can take physics over literature if you can clearly showcase your interest/talent/passion in the social sciences through other parts of your application (finance, like you said). Its nice to see variety. If you don’t think you’ll be able to do that, then I guess take literature. If only there was an economics subject test, that would be perfect.

@cso1640 If you think you could do the same on Literature and Physics, I would take Literature - it is more difficult to get a higher score (based on: http://media.collegeboard.com/digitalServices/pdf/research/SAT-Subject-Tests-Percentile-Ranks-2012.pdf</a>), and thus a high score would probably be more impressive. Or just take both.

@PoisonIvy20 Yeah ikr! I took AP Micro/Macro this year and felt so comfortable with the material but there was no SAT II for it… I took the USH one bleh.

@sunsh0wers‌ hahahah really? is it hard? i kind of looked over the barrons AP Stats book and it actually seemed pretty hard hahah so many terms!

@misschoding - It probably seems daunting if you’ve never learned any of it before, but it’s pretty easy to understand once you get the concepts down! There’s not really THAT many terms, especially compared to history…you’ll be fine. :)

@sunsh0wers‌ haha I hope so! lol thank youu :)

@poisonivy20 and @ErenYeager‌ Thanks, I’ll definitely keep those in mind. Right now I’m leaning towards Physics, but I’ll probably take a Literature practice test to see if I can do well.

On a side note, @sunsh0wers‌ AP Statistics is fairly easy, I enjoyed the class as well. Stat is also self-studyable, so if you’re taking a class you should be fine. Then again, I’m a math person, so take this with a grain of salt. Have fun!

P.S. Anyone know if Caltech (California Institute of Technology) has a good finance program? I am wondering because I know their engineering and math is good, but I’m more interested in finance over STEM.

@cso1640 - Yep, plus M&Ms. :P

Anyone here taken the F=ma (or have knowledge of it) and have Halliday/Resnick/Walker’s FOP textbook? If so, which chapters of FOP are needed for F=ma, and which ones can be disregarded?

@Apollo11‌: you seem to be knowledgeable about this, so I’ll ask you. Does AP Physics B prepare you for the F=ma exam? Or is outside studying needed? If the latter, how much extra studying in combination with physics B is needed? I would like to at least qualify for semis. I have a pretty good conceptual knowledge of single variable calculus (except for series/sequences), and I can always practice to get better at it.

AP scores everybody! When you have yours please post them.
I did well this year!

Music Theory: 5 (5 on each subscore)
Calc AB: 5
Physics B: 4

Congrats! I love seeing other students on CC challenge themselves and do well. Motivates me to keep pushing on and trying my best in school when I’m feeling low.

Took my first exam this year.

AP U.S Gov: 5

I’m proud of myself. I actually struggled a little at the beginning of the year but I tweaked some of my habits and was able to pull it together.

Dang, man! I don’t see myself ever passing a social studies AP exam. That’s really awesome especially since it was your first. My first exam I got a 1…it was in Human Geography and I quickly realized it was a worthless class (I liked the material, but my teacher was awful).

Took my first two AP Exams this year:
AP World - 5
AP Chem - 5

Also got 800 on both SAT Math II and SAT Chem, but only a 730 on SAT World. Still a good year for me though.
Here’s to next year!

Thank you!

Lol we all have our strong suits. A lot of people who were brilliant at science and math struggled with this class but sometimes I envy students who find math and science to be a walk in the park . I really love learning overall but history and social studies classes are just a bit more intriguing to me. I did put in a lot of time and effort for this class and I had an amazing teacher too. I want to take AP Calc AB eventually but math isn’t my best subject and I’m honestly a little scared. Again, congrats!

@DrDorias‌ Dang dude, that’s way too good. How was SAT Chem? I’m taking that next year after AP Chem.

@letmeseetheworld‌ I found math in high school to get progressively easier as it went on. A lot of people in my school got a 5 on the AB exam even though many aren’t very math-orientated.

@Smrtical‌ thank you. I’ll keep that in mind if I ever get the chance to take the class.

Psychology: 1
US Gov: 1
World History (the one that mattered): 2

@smrtical It wasn’t that bad because it was three days before the AP, but Sparknotes review definitely helped.

@DrDorias‌ I’m trying to get ahead and learn AP Chem before school starts. Anything you think will help me a lot?
