High school class of 2016

Is the PSAT harder or easier than the SAT? I have been taking practice tests for both and and have been consistently getting 2250ish on the SAT practice tests but only high 190s for the PSAT practice tests. Or could it just be it’s harder to take tests on the computer? (I downloaded PSATS from previous years but haven’t printed them out. I have the Kaplan book for SAT prep)

…or Kaplan is too easy?

@alzhao PSAT and SAT are about the same, but the timing could make SAT a little harder, but a 210 PSAT does not correspond to a 2100 SAT score. I would say a PSAT of 200-210 would correspond to your SAT score, so you’re pretty close.

Visited Cambridge Uni today. St Johns college is my favorite so far.

lul nerd visiting so early nerd lul lol l0l!

@Woandering‌
Are you an American? If so, what are your plans to apply overseas?

@Apollo11‌

I’m pretty sure he’s from 'Stralya or New Zealand.

Should I try to take Spanish 3 H online again? Earlier I tried it; the class itself was easy, but there were some technical issues so I ended up dropping it. Should I attempt it again? I kinda want to take AP Spanish senior year because I’m good at it and I think colleges would like it…otherwise I’ll only have two foreign language credits. But I’m already swamped with more classes than people usually take, along with a self-study. Also my work ethic is awful. But it would be beneficial…ugh.

Nah don’t. Besides, it is more effective to learn a foreign language in an environment in which one can speak and communicate rather than just study and memorize words. I’d stick to the class.

I’m in the same situation though. Spanish 4 next year, but want to take AP Spanish senior year instead of Spanish 5 (also because my school’s Spanish 5 teacher is the devil)

@ErenYeager‌ The thing is, I already know Spanish 3 material. Two of my older siblings speak Spanish and have gone to South America more than once, so I don’t need a learning environment (which wouldn’t be a problem anyway; the class has several live chats). I had already learned through Spanish 3 when I was taking Spanish 1 because I was bored with the class and my teacher helped me through them, but guidance wouldn’t let me skip any classes to get to AP Spanish my freshman year.

Aw I’ve missed this thread! hey all 16ers :D

@Smrtical‌ Are you able to test into AP Spanish, or do you definitely have to take class Spanish 3 somehow to get into AP Spanish?

@Smrtical‌ at my school a parent can contact your counselor to request skipping into a more accelerated language class, given you know the material. You could also talk to the subject teacher or department head and tell them you wish to accelerate

@Animefan1998‌ @AmbiD77‌ That’s been the problem. I can’t test into a class or skip or anything. I’ve tried about three times.

It’s really dumb. I got a 98 on the Spanish 2 pretest and they didn’t do anything about it even though I asked. Then I got a 100 on the Spanish 3 online pretest. Teachers are dumb.

@Smrtical‌ Wow. That’s really dumb. Have you tried talking to the principal or bring your parents into this at all? Because that’s really unfair and doesn’t make sense at all.

@Smrtical‌ Wow thats incredibly frustrating! I agree with @Animefan1998‌ try bringing your parents into it? If you go to a public school chances are your parents can get any administrative decision overwritten

@Smrtical‌ Does your school have Credit By Exams?

@Smrtical‌ you can also just register for the AP through a different school

Again, @AmbiD77‌ @Animefan1998‌ I tried. My parents did get involved but they simply kept saying that you can only proceed on to the next class if you’ve taken the classes before it.

Welllll um what do you want us to say then if you’ve tried everything? Do the online if you have time I guess.

lol @Smrtical‌ this is just my suggestion but don’t take it. You’re already taking a lot of classes so an additional class could be really overwhelming.

wow it’s actually so unfair that the psat cutline is 224 for my state… that’s the highest :frowning:
