@misschoding Yeah, probably not going to happen. Although, AP CS and Lang are both chill classes. I might be able to do Spanish work during CS… I’ll see.

Oh my gosh, I’m so scared for the PSAT. One of my top choices has guaranteed half tuition scholarship for NMF’s and for my field (Vocal Performance) , that’s crucial. I’m scared because 1. I’m from Illinois with a high cut off. 2. I bombed my Sat 2 math (650 eeeeekkkk). Granted, that was partially bubbled incorrectly on my error. I also have no clue how difficult it is, yikes! I’ll definitely be prepping hard core for the first time in my life!

Lul all my life up until I took Spanish 1 & 2 (we took it all in one year) I’ve always pronounced Pollo Loco as “white girl voice polo local”
And @Smrtical your school has a pretty weird system then. I remember on the first day I entered my Spanish class my teacher thought I was Mexican (she had been trying to kick fluent Spanish speakers out of the class so they can be put at a higher level and not be placed in an easy class) so she forced me to take this test and I kept telling her that I don’t even know where it says to put my name and she wouldn’t believe me, she thought I was being sneaky.
Lol it wasn’t until the middle of the year she finally realized I wasn’t Mexican when she asked why my last name was so weird. She’s the most craziest teacher I’ve ever had in my entire life but at least now I can say crazy chicken in Spanish the correct way.

And hi all you 16ers!!!

@foolish lol seriously? This is CC.

@Apollo11 @TeamRocketGrunt
I’m New Zealand citizen but studying in America, so APs and all that. I’ll just apply UCAS, like you’re meant to? What specifically do you want to know?

@misschoding what state is that?

Today was my second day of cell bio lab work. Westerns are so tedious.

Class of 2016 woot woot

@Woandering

Just wondering how’d I’d have to match up to get into Oxbridge as a foreign national. For example, I want to do PPE, but I’ve got 4s on my Micro and Macro tests. However, I got straight As in the equivalent course at a local University; would that help at all? The test day was just really weird for me. Would I need to retake 4s for Oxbridge? Also, how would they view an award like State AP Scholar or National AP Scholar?

Those awards are pretty good, though apparently colleges don’t care about AP scores. Lucky for me :P

@TeamRocketGrunt Westerns are fun the first time but after you do them 10x times in a row to get accurate results, you kind of go insane.

@Apollo11 I think I heard somewhere that most English colleges actually pay a lot of attention to ap exams/awards

@Apollo11 Cambridge is fine with you resitting exams once, if you get a better score. Oxbridge is fairly simple in that all you need to do is everything related to your subject PPE- grades, extras, etc. i don’t think AP awards mean much, because you need to get a lot of APs to be worthy in the first place.

Still apply no matter how your situation looks like. It doesn’t cost much, and you get to apply to 4 other English unis without added costs, plus interviews are fairly important at Oxbridge. If the tutor thinks you actually know a lot despite test scores, you can still get in.

Cool, thanks @Woandering!

The reason why I’d ask about National AP Scholar is that it would require you to get at least 8 exams with a score of 4 or higher, which I’d assume would illustrate to English universities that equate APs to A-Levels that I’d essentially done a colossal amount of work and managed to still meet requirements in all of those fields

In other news, LCD Soundsystem’s album “LCD Soundsystem” is now my new favorite album, taking over the spot jointly held by LCD Soundsystem’s “Sound of Silver” and Daft Punk’s “Discovery”

@AmbiD77 New Jersey!

@Slytherclaw12
I blocked the gel and left it in primary for the night. Third and final day of this one tomorrow :D

I’m an upcoming junior. I only took one ap class so far and I passed it (sophomores are not allowed to take more than one). I haven’t taken the sat yet, but on the psat, I earned a low score. If I retake the psat this year and receive a 220 or higher and get more community service hours, do I have a higher chance? I have really good extracurriculars and leadership roles. I haven’t done any research yet because I’m too young. However, I am very compassionate about science. Would I receive my new psat scores in time so that way I can report them to RSI?

@Tajmahal the RSI application is due in Fenruary I think, so you should be fine.

I haven’t posted in here for a while, anyone else applying for MITES? I feel like I could make it, I’ve done really well my first two ears in high school, my only problem is that I have a lack of science clubs at my school and my PSAT score isn’t very good.

The PSAT only counts Junior year…

@Animefan1998 what do you mean? I thought that you could take it sophomore and junior year. I want to submit my junior psat score, since I didn’t do that good on the sophomore psat.
