@hailbo I am also going to apply to MITES. The only science related clubs that I’m in are Academic Decathlon and Go Green Club. I also didn’t do that good on my PSAT. However, I’m planning on taking it again this fall so in that case, I can submit that score to MITES. I’m going study hard for the next few months.

@Tajmahal I will be applying to MITES as well! There are sooo many programs I have to keep track of this upcoming school year.

@Tajmahal You can take the PSAT sophomore and junior year, but it officially counts when you take it as a junior, so you shouldn’t really worry about your sophomore test too much.

@Tajmahal

RSI will only accept the junior year PSAT. They won’t see your sophomore year one.

@Tajmahal @hailbo @PoisonIvy20 I still haven’t decided, but I want to apply to MITES. Is it a requirement to be some sort of minority? I remember reading that somewhere.

^No. The website reads: “Members of all races and ethnicities are considered. We look particularly for students who come from challenging backgrounds and those who must overcome significant odds to pursue their dreams of becoming an engineer or scientist.”

@Apollo11 If you have the time, I would also suggest taking a CIE A levels test to boost your application. I’m prepping for the Further Math (for Computer Science).

On a similar note, finally finished ordering all my books for both school and self studying.

@Woandering

I’m in America, and the only thing that would be remotely similar would be AP exams. Would an equivalent AP be enough to take the CIE A level? Are there prep books available?

Thanks so much, by the way.

Today I came to the grim realization that I’m a brown Asian male from the South complete with piano who also has a passion for science and a STEM slant in his ECs.

Affirmative action will not be kind to me.

@Apollo11 I’m self studying the CIE A levels to take it in America. There are CIE qualified schools in America, though there are few. I will have to travel to the next state for the test. The Further Math A levels is similar to the addition of AP Calc BC, Statistics, and Physics Mechanics, although the A level actually goes a tiny further. I haven’t checked anything else, although you can check the CIE syllabuses.

Whens everyone taking their ACTs/SATs?

@ambiD77 I’m taking them this October. I’m really nervous, as I need to do well the first time for an internship that I’m applying to.

^ I’m taking the SATs

Ahh gotcha, any SAT IIs?

@AmbiD77 Already taken my ACT (35) and two SAT IIs (Bio 770; Math II 800). Taking the PSAT this October and planning on the SAT in March. Probably taking chem SAT II in December.

@TeamRocketGrunt lol why does it matter if you’re from the south? Is that a part of another stereotype?

@Slytherclaw12 I think he meant the south part of Asia, because many people think only of east Asian people when they hear “Asian.”

I’m taking SATs again as soon as possible. Anyone got good studying tips?

@AmbiD77 I’m taking mine either in December or March of my junior year.

@PoisonIvy20 @2016bostonian @TeamRocketGrunt @Animefan1998
When do you find out what you scored on your psat?

They release the scores in the November after you take it I believe.
