Hi!
I am an international student who will be applying to the SSP and the SUMaC this year. The problem is that I could only achieve a 28 rank in a class of 325 students in the recently concluded semester exam. The reason is that I was busy developing my manuscript(which got accepted a month later for publication in a peer reviewed journal) and was also busy with the indian equivalent of the AMC(I also qualified for the next level) during that time. How will my grades mar my chances of making it to either camp? I think that recs will be great and I will be submitting the SAT scores after I recieve them. Essays are good too and I also have a long list of other awards/achievements and A LOT of independent coursework.
Idk if i should retake the ACT in feb; I got a 33 in oct and my mom has basically forced me to go to UT Austin, so there’s no use in retaking for a higher score…
Anyone else here applying to MITES? I’m struggling so hard trying to write these essays. They’re not too long but I feel like I’m coming off as boring and corny.
Wow its crazy to think that in 11 months, for those of us applying early to college, we’ll know what college we might go to, if accepted of course!! Gahh I’m so nervous. Really hoping to get accepted early to a college so my senior year can really be stress-free!
@hailbo Same. I want to show a funny side but I’m not sure in which essays I should do that or even how to format them.
To think that I’ll be done with all my standardized testing (hopefully) in 6 months time is terrifying.
Does anyone have a college list yet? Because I have no idea where I’m applying yet, with the exception of that one dream school that I’ll probably get rejected from.
Dream Schools: Stanford, University of Chicago
Slightly less dreamy than dream schools: Harvard, MIT, Northwestern
Match Schools: UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara
Safety Schools: Cal State Northridge, San Diego State, CSULA,
Dream Schools: Georgetown, Tufts, Dartmouth
Match Schools: UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, UC Irvine, UC Davis
Safety: CSU Stanislaus, Seattle University, San Francisco University
But to be honest, if I don’t get into my match schools then I’ll probably attend CC and try to transfer to UCB, UCSD or UCLA.
Dream Schools: Northwestern, UNC Chapel Hill (OOS, otherwise it’d be a match)
Match Schools: University of Alabama
Safety: Loyola Chicago, Miami (OH), Ohio University, University of Missouri
So it’s a little safety-heavy, but whatever. Since three out of four of the “safeties” are rolling admissions, if I get into at least two by the end of November I won’t even bother sending in my app for the last one.
Dream Schools(fantasies): Harvard, Yale, the rest of the Ivy League.
Match: Rutgers.
Safeties: I don’t know.
I haven’t really started thinking about colleges. Maybe I should.
