High school class of 2016

My school is ranked in the upper 200s nationally. I find it interesting that its ranking has been going down each year.

8 in Maryland apparently, woo! Usually around 10 kids to ivys, this year 5 got into cornell wtf.

I really question these rankings because the formula is simply a calculation of the average number of AP/IB tests per student. One of the top five schools is in my area and yeah, the kids are smart but the school also pays for all of the AP tests. This year my school initiated a policy that if you’re in an AP class, you MUST take the AP test or be dropped from the class. They haven’t actually done this, but they’re really desperate to increase the number of tests - without any care for how well people actually score.

GUYS WHAT ARE YOU TAKING NEXT YEAR?
I have a dilemma. As much as I want to take AP Psychology for senior year, I have been told that I should take AP Spanish instead so I can take 4 years of a foreign language. I don’t have room for both. Are any of you planning to take AP Spanish or stuck with a similar dilemma? Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m taking AP Spanish, I dropped AP Human Geo from it. I’m in psych now and its really cool though…

161st in state and 789th in nation because Cali is competitive af. Two got offers from MIT and Stanford and our valedictorian has full ride to Berkeley

@NectarInASieve right now I’m signed up for
AP Physics C
AP Calc BC
AP Comp Sci
AP Gov (1 sem)
AP Macro econ (1 sem)
CP lit 12
Digital Imaging (unless I get an A in music appreciation but that’s unlikely at this point)

My school is in top 50 national. What is the criteria for this ranking?

@Girlsworld average number of AP/IB tests per student

@NectarInASieve I’m taking AP Spanish right now; it’s brutal.

I see. My school offers like 27 APs.

y do we got to make stuff so competitive :expressionless:

As a junior I take AP English Lang, APUSH, Pre-Calc AB, Physics, College Spanish.

@NectarInASieve if you’re more interested in psychology than Spanish then take AP Pysch. I don’t think the ultimate deciding factor for admissions will be that fourth year of a language. It’s your last year so why not fill it with courses you’re actually interested in.

So UChicago sent me one of their many emails and I replied saying that I wanted a shirt. They asked me for a size and an address and they sent it to me! It’s actually really nice.

@Slytherclaw12
So the e-mail they sent had nothing to do with a shirt and you just asked for one?

@XoXdreamerXoX Yep! The email was about a UChicago info session in May and I responded with “Hi I would like to receive a shirt.” And some person named Alex responded and asked for a size and address. I think my request was so casual because I don’t want to go there at all haha
