Is a CC class about the same as an AP? I’m probably not going to get AP Gov&Econ unless I drop physics for enviro so I have to take it at a CC.
Lmao our valedictorian is my best friend and he’s an awesome guy! Nose to the ground, does all his work, and best of all is extremely humble. I guess being on top makes some arrogant and some grounded.
Our school has no idea who the valedictorian is, but I believe it is one of my good friends in IB. Everyone in IB is like a family since we’re slowly killing our souls through the program, and no one in IB is at all terrible or mean like that.
(Unless we go insane with college prep and applications our senior year, that’s a different story)
Luckily my grades valed/salud is really good friends with me (small public school so we have had the same exact schedule since 8th grade) and he doesn’t care about whether or not he’s valedictorian or salutatorian. He’s a genius (36 ACT) close to 99 weighted average (previous high was 98.48). He never tells anyone his grades unless you ask him and he’s humble.
My school’s probable Val is one of my friends. She is very nice, incredibly humble and multi talented. She is an extraordinary artist, writer, athlete and musician. Really hoping it is her because she deserves it and she will give an amazing speech. I don’t know who the probable Sal is but one of my best friends is ranked third.
how are vals even chosen
@BasedBioGod Highest GPA.
The only people who go out of their way to do that are either insecure, have helicopter parents (unlikely) or are some kind of psycho. Congratulations though
Thanks for you all’s support. All Vals and Sals are different. I guess some just let numbers get to them.
@XoXdreamerXoX
so a val is synonymous with goody two-shoes
@BasedBioGod
No
^Ditto.
idk who our val is. The Top 2 are BFFs and they’ve been going at it since forever.
I mean there’s no intention of belittling it but if the only component considered for val is taking hard classes and getting good grades on the tests and classes it seems trivial
Well I don’t know if this is the norm but at my school the Val and Sal 's always have a long list of extracurriculars they are involved in and often as leaders.
@BasedBioGod What would you add? Getting into top ranked college? Being popular enough to be voted leadership? In academia, good grades tend to be pretty important, not at all trivial.
I don’t think many schools’ administrations would wish to have a committee to decide who the val/sal are and where everyone else is ranked. It’s all based on grades and added ranking points for harder classes. A computer decides who is where.
I can’t believe application season has finally started. A few years ago, I pictured myself applying to top colleges and anxiously worrying about how it would turn out. Well, the time has come for us. Has everyone decided where they’re applying? I’m applying ED to Dartmouth.
RD everywhere, but I’m pretending the deadlines are Nov 1. Good luck to all of u!w
Doing 5 early (none binding, of course). Almost done with my uva essays even though one is a solid 100 words over the limit.
