High school class of 2016

Eh. I dropped statistics and am still alive. It’s fine. I realized too late that I didn’t like it.

So, like, I was just told all of my essays are the worst abomination on the face of this planet.

Well, now I really got rejected.

@XoXdreamerXoX by who?

@LordBendtner literally was going to ask the same thing haha

The same kid I was talking to yesterday who has stellar essays and SAT scores. @LordBendtner

I give up.

Whatever.

State college all the way.

Yaaaaaaaaay.

F***

@XoXdreamerXoX He sounds like a jerk! Arrogant people are honestly my pet peeve, ugh.
Don’t listen to him, you’re amazing!

I wrote my Cornell supplement about physics. I said some physics-y things. He said it seemed like I tried too hard to sound smart (…I’m the girl that was like “the square root of the initial velocity plus twice the acceleration times the displacement” when something fell off my desk in English) and had the most mechanical errors he’d seen anyone write with. Even then, he said it was the best essay he’d seen from me so far.

@XoXdreamerXoX If it makes you feel better mine probably sucked too

2:25 AM and I’M DONE WITH ALL MY APPLICATIONS!! Just hit submit to my last writing supplement and I’ve never felt so alive <:-P

Goodbye CommonApp SMD!! :))

@shadyconcepts I was wondering what that acronym was so I looked it up and was extremely confused about why you would put “surface-mount technology” and then I looked at the preview for the urban dictionary link… :expressionless: I feel extremely innocent now, although I am far from it

@XoXdreamerXoX Your situation reminds me of this one other guy I know…ugh why do people have to be so condescending like show some modesty

@XoXdreamerXoX

He should be a drill instructor. Those guys lack any form of humanity.

@XoXdreamerXoX This is gonna sound weird, but is it possible that he was trying to be helpful? Or straightforward? Because my dad says things like that to me all the time, but it’s from a good place… It just doesn’t come out right sometimes.

@QuirkyClarkie That’s a nice thought. I’m also very honest when my friends ask me for my opinions because I want the best for them. However, I think the guys needs to be more sensitive. It’s impossible to change everything to his satisfaction when the deadline is so close and it just adds to @XoXdreamerXoX 's anxiety. He also basically bashed everything else she’s ever written. I think it’s different when parents say it. Even though your dad is straightforward, you bet he’s gonna be proudly commending everything you do in front of his friends.

Totally off topic, but I just realized that it’s really fascinating listening to you guys talking about factors like in-state tuition and how far away from home you’re planning on going, because any college I end up at will be at least halfway around the world from my family. During college, I get one round-trip plane ticket per year to visit them, and I don’t even know if I’ll end up doing that because of internships/study abroad. It must be nice to have the option of driving down (or taking the train) to see your family for Thanksgiving or even on the weekends.

@QuirkyClarkie If it’s okay to ask, which state are you from and where are all your colleges located? I totally get the feeling of being so far away from home. I’m going to be an international student (if I get accepted to my schools) and I haven’t even thought about the differences in holiday dates. I’ll rarely get to see my friends who are staying in my country for college.

@kuriosmind I totally feel you! Most of my friends will be in different continents this time next year. Me + two of my besties are going to North America, one will be in South Africa, a lot will be in Europe, and one or two will be in Asia somewhere. It’s going to be hard to meet up or ever see them again.

My dad’s from New Jersey, but I haven’t actually lived in the US for 10 years now so I feel pretty international :slight_smile: All of my colleges are located on the East Coast (above North Carolina) and will be ~9,000 miles away from my family IF there was a direct flight. But there’s not, so I have a lot of traveling to do! If I went to college on the West Coast (which I won’t), I would be ~12,000 miles away.

@QuirkyClarkie Which country are you from? I thought only Americans used miles instead of km.

@kuriosmind I’m from the US & Singapore, but I haven’t actually lived in the US since I was 6. Being the stubborn American I am, though, I still use miles & Fahrenheit :slight_smile:

Also I just googled who still uses the Imperial system and apparently Liberia & Myanmar use it too?

Haha yes I was about to ask if you were from Myanmar, which would just be too cool! Though you’re cool wherever you’re from since you’re part of the CC class of 2016 family.
