@newjerseygirl98 Congrats!! I remain on the jobless-ness corner. I gave up on applying for jobs already.
@observeraffect Yes. Very much so. But I also feel I wouldn’t be deemed quite as intelligent at those schools as I’d be compared to a pool of nobel laureates instead of potheads.
But I’ve been wondering how many of us are planning on doing something productive over the summer? (Classes, Programs, Internships…) I know it’s the last summer and all that we can spend with our HS friends and families, but I feel wrong not doing something haha
As tempting as it may be to do a ton of stuff over the summer, I don’t think it’s a good idea. After the burnout of senior year, it’d be pretty bad to keep doing work over the summer. It wouldn’t be good for my productivity in college. I think I’ll keep this break as what it was meant to be: just a break.
I know most of y’all are going to say no, but has anyone here skipped class before? I did it once in middle school and it was the most boring thing ever. Me and one of my friend just sat in the bathroom until the bell rang, in utter silence. I didn’t have a phone either, so I just stared at the wall. I told myself I would never skip again.
@AcceptableName Yes. I skip my 8th period all the time. I’m only in there about 20% of the time–the time required to make a 100 in a class where no kids actually care about their education but still pass.
I go into my college counseling center. My college counselor is fine with me being in there studying or doing whatever. He makes fun of me because I always skip just to study or help kids fill out college/scholarship applications or sign up for the SAT or ACT instead of skipping to leave campus or cause destruction.
@AcceptableName No, I’ve never skipped class before. My school has strict rules on attendance (our attendance is taken at the beginning of every period) and if anyone skips, it can be grounds for an in-school suspension. I take joy in my first-period frees though, where I get to come in at like 9:15 instead of 7:20.

@QuirkyClarkie My school does that as well. But that’s why I make sure to tell my teachers I’m present before I leave and test the waters for a little bit to see if those teachers will let me leave class.
@AcceptableName I have skipped class for my first time senior year a few weeks back. We had to do finals for Spanish and I was so underprepared so I only wanted to skip like 1 day but it turned to an entire week… I will never do that again. Sitting in the bathroom just sitting silently for 1 hour fearing getting caught is a very frightening experience.
…seeing that y’all have to hide in bathrooms and stuff makes me glad the security guards at my school know me and like me and that my college counselor and I get along well enough for him to be cool with me skipping.
@AcceptableName i skipped all the time last year, p much whenever i had a physics test. it actually made everything worse because all my work would snowball. i dont sit in the bathroom tho (wouldnt that be uncomfortable?) i just call myself out of school and sleep
@LordBendtner I actually got my first high school detention last week because I was late to first period (a full 60 seconds!!!). The teacher did warn us at the beginning of the year. Still, I will continue to be late. One simply cannot stop the senioritis mid year.
