@Tookme10mins My school used to have that rule when I was in middle school and even in freshman/sophomore year. Now, everyone has theirs phone right next to them on the desks and some even text/go on instagram during class…
@kuriosmind 20% of regularly admitted students don’t get LLs. Most recruited athletes go through ED, so they’d already have them, and it’s even rarer for non-recruited students to get them than athletes…keep in mind that CC is a self-selecting group of overachievers, so it makes sense that you seem to see a lot of them here.
Also, even if that was true, that means that 80% or 4/5 of admitted students don’t, which is a much bigger number than 1/5 or 20%.
Passing time until decisions by online shopping for dorm stuff and laughing at the totals before clicking out of the page. Also, does anyone actually understand how bedding works?
@glasshours something like… a sheet that goes over the bed and you tuck it under the bed so it doesn’t move or it’s elastic at the edges so it doesn’t move… and then a blanket I guess?
^my version of bedding hahahha
On a related note: why is bedding so ridiculously expensive? I don’t want to spend $70+ for a comforter
@wonderlanddd Why don’t you just bring your own?
Am I the only one that was planning on bringing my current blankets, sheets, pillows, etc? It’s going to make me feel at home while I’m there.
@wonderlanddd I know right! I mean, where did our parents find the good bedding deals because everywhere I look they cost $$$ and what’s with the different names.
@glasshours I look at urban outfitters tapestries first and then try to base an entire dorm room theme around one I like, and then it’s close tab and repeat
@wonderlanddd @kuriosmind
For bedding there is always stores like Ross. They sometimes have good deals on sheets and stuff, so it’s worth checking out.
Talking about Bedding on CC?
@DaPueo “My bedding is only 300 thread count, will this jeopardize my chances at getting into my dream school? Should I try to get a 400 thread count bedding?”
depends on your dream school @kuriosmind
For ivies you need a 550+, but dont forget that the fabric matters too
@DaPueo oh no! What can I do to get a higher thread count? And does it help that I have 5 pillows? They are all high quality pillows and I heard colleges like applicants with lots of pillows.
Can’t wait to buy stuff for my dorm(if I’m dorming). I hope this doesn’t sound dorky,but all last summer I used to watch college dorm haul videos on YouTube,lol
I live quite literally across the country from where I’ll (hopefully) be going so I can’t bring a ton of stuff I’m planning on bringing one or two blankets maybe, and clothing, but everything else we’re going to buy over there because shipping
@kuriosmind - Urban Outfitters bedding is SO great, but everything is ridiculously expensive ($100+ for a comforter…)
ALSO WHY ARE PILLOWS SO EXPENSIVE
I’m planning on using the sheets/pillows I have, but I’ll probably need a different sized comforter. Also, what even are foam toppers/mattress pads, and why do they cost so much…
@kuriosmind
Depends on the college
I mean pillows do help, but what else do you have?
A 600 thread count? Cotton bedding? 1 blanket or 3? Do you have a queen size or twin size bed? How big is your room? What colors are your wall? And the most important is how expensive is the stuff in your room?
I cant give you an accurate chance w/o this ifo, and what schools are did you apply to?
@wonderlanddd
Im hoping to go from Hawaii to CT or NJ. You are bringing blankets?
I was selected for a scholarship at William&Mary.
I was having such a rough day, still can’t believe it!
What the **** is thread count?
