We had 1 Harvard last year (Val), 1 Stanford, and one UChicago. I don’t know about anyone this year though with their early decisions
Honestly, I think Ivys are a bit overrated… no matter what college you go to, you’re going for the same reason. I don’t understand why some people want to go to them so bad… they’re some of the most stressful schools and cost way more money than they need to. It makes me feel bad for being satisfied with going to a local state University… ; w;
Anyone else get an email inviting you to apply for TASP?
@pseudoprimal I did.
ETA: Did yours say the stuff about being contacted because you did well on the PSAT? Because mine did, and I’m just wondering why they would have access to my PSAT score before I do.
I did. It says this: Why am I receiving this message? You have received this message because you opted to allow the Educational Testing Service to share your information with us. As one of the top PSAT/NMSQT scorers in your area, you were identified as a promising candidate for TASP. PSAT/NMSQT scores do not, however, play a role in our admissions process once you apply.
@foliontai @torquoiseworld It’s a little weird, though, because I opted out of the ETS information sharing this year. I’m wondering if they might be going off of last year’s PSAT scores, but that seems like an odd thing to do on their part.
The weird thing is that I know I was nominated for the program by my counselor, so when I got to the part about “why you received this message,” I expected it to say that I was nominated. But, it talked about the PSAT instead, and no one knows whether they are using current scores or old ones.
I guess I’ll ask the other people who were nominated from my school to see if they got the same email. Are you guys going to apply?
I’m not going to apply; I already got accepted to a continuation of the math program I attended last year and am going to go to that.
I got the TASP thing too but I’m not going to apply.
So I had a calc test today…that didn’t go so well…
My physics test! I hope I got an A on that
I had a Spanish final and an AP Bio final. The AP Bio final was easier than I expected and Spanish was a lot harder than I expected.
@tigerman333 I had one to and I did a lot worse than I wanted to. This senior girl got into Dartmouth, but idk why she didn’t apply to Ivies that take AP credit as she’s taken 14 AP classes. First student to get into an Ivy since 2011 (Princeton)
Also I have a question. I’m a Carson Scholar, but in light of the recent politically incorrect and controversial statements Ben Carson has made, will any admissions officers look down on this? Just wondering.
DOES ANYONE WANT TO SHARE A THREAD FOR STUDYING TECHNIQUES DURING THIS WINTER BREAK?
fml sem2 is coming up, guys…
Anyone applying to summer programs? I wish there was a nice comprehensive list of the free and prestigious ones lol.
@deeeznuts UA sent me an offer to apply to their Early College program a few months ago. I can honestly see myself at a small college, but I think I’m going to take UA up on their offer. Ten weeks of doing things on a college campus over the summer? I don’t see why not.
Nice! @QueenOfBohemia sound interesting. I’m still looking around to find a nice fit lol
Nominated for GHP, hopefully selected for 4 week math thing.
@deeeznuts We’ve got plenty of time to figure it out. A part of me feels like I’m betraying my state by even considering this program. xD
Is anyone applying to Oxbridge? I’m wondering how hard it is to get in.
