@greeneggsandsam9 I doubt it. Carson’s views don’t necessarily reflect the views of the Carson Scholars. Besides, there could be other factors that could make or break you in the college applications. College apps are also like a lottery ticket, so who knows?
YEEESSSSSS just got a 92 on my ap chem final. I can’t believe it honestly that test was so hard. Didn’t even move my grade down.
A good free and pretty prestigious summer program is NSLI-Y! It’s pretty competitive–I think the acceptance rate is around 15%. it’s essentially a scholarship to study abroad for an academic year or summer, and the scholarship covers pretty much everything except extra baggage fees, personal spending money, and a few other things.
You can easily Google it and find out a lot more. The thing is it’s too late to apply for 2016-2017. you can still apply next year and do it the summer/year after senior year. Applications start I think in late August and are due at the end of October.
@jjlundy Nice job! i’m hoping I did that well on my chem exam.
@deeeznuts the only major free summer programs I know of are TASP, RSI, Simons, and Clark.
I’m applying to a bunch of summer research programs and it’s stressing me out so much. None of the people from my school do these kinds of programs so my only resource is CC and the rest of the internet LOL
I would not have even known kids my age do research - let alone change the world like some of the Intel people - had I not stumbled upon this website.
I want to apply to Clark so badly but I won’t be 17 at the start of the program! My birthday is so close! :(( less than 20 days away from the start of the program :(( :(( :(( :(( :((
So anxious cz i have midterms next week and i havent studied all year. If u r a us. Citizen summer@ brown and cornell high school summer, stanford summer…cant go cz they have no financial aid for internationals
I just finished all my finals and it looks like I’ll be getting all As this semester. Hooray! I wonder if I can continue this next semester.
I think I have all A’s except for AP Chemistry. I guess it’s not a big deal since my teacher changes our grade if we pass the AP exam.
I got straight As! I’m really mad though…my class rank is #2…so close to first…I’m hoping that by the end of the school year it will move to #1 since I’m taking one more weighted IB class than the person who is first right now.
Since we’re talking about people from our schools getting into Ivy’s, one of my senior friends got into Stanford and another got into MIT. That’s all I know so far though…
I’m getting a ton of advice from them and they’re letting me look at their application. The kid who got into Stanford actually reported that he got a 2 on both the APUSH and AP Lang. exams… I guess they really are holistic…
And I’m happy, finishing this semester with all A+s. Hopefully we can continue this for the rest of our lives lol
Do you all have homework over winter break? All I have is a lab for AP Bio. I have so much free time now, I don’t know what to do with myself!
I have school up to the 24th! Yaaaay :((
I don’t have homework! I’m so happy because it gives me the chance to study for the sat and study French (im really bad at French…I’m really scared for the IB exam)
@dsi411 I feel the same way!
Unfortunately my physics teacher assigned us a chapter to read and a “take-home” test. I also have a chapter to read for AP Chem. Such is life. Oh well.
@dsi411 All I have is work for APUSH. I guess I’ll use this time as an opportunity to study for the USAD and the SAT.
Also, now that I think about it, I might get a B in English. I feel like I did bad on the timed write, I’ve been doing so badly in that class now since the writing there is so much different from AP Lang.
Either way, great job everyone! =D> We’re halfway through junior year now, let’s make the second half just as exciting and successful as the first one.
@dsi411 I have a fair amount of homework: some reading in English, I’m rewriting an essay, and I have a little math homework.
I’m taking winter break as a chance to relax and catch up on some self-study stuff that I’ve been neglecting.
I have a writing assignment on one of the books I read over the summer. I think it’s related to the Easy A movie, but I have yet to read more about this. And then there’s a biology project where we have to read The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lax. Lots of people are saying it’s a good read. I hope my attention span isn’t so short like it usually is. Dx
