@ambitiousgeek The PSAT scores are released to the counselors on Wednesday, so maybe if you are really anxious you can beg your counselor to tell you your score early.
@Studious99 I think if you have the stats you should apply and might get in! The thing is, they won’t give you aid if you’re OOS so you’d have to be full pay
Spending time in the PSAT speculation thread really stresses me out
Well, at this point, Columbia and UC Berkeley might be reaches. However, I love Columbia’s English Program. I think I possibly have a chance of getting into Columbia because I have a very strong background in writing.
As for UC Berkeley, I think I might have a slightly better chance of getting in because I live locally and apparently it’s harder to get in if you don’t live in California? Though, again, I think my application would stand out because I’ve devoted a lot of time to my writing, and have already published books.
English.
Yeah… luckily, I’ll still be able to take the AP exams anyways!
@coffeeaddicted That’s odd, I live in Florida also and they are having us take a “District Administrated” ACT Test on March 15th. The date isn’t on the official listing of ACT sites but if you google it, it comes up. I’m actually very relieved because I wasn’t planning on taking the new SAT and now I don’t have to pay for my first ACT test!
Yeah @neoking I’m going to talk to my guidance counselor. And idk how the system with cancelling scores and whatnot works it’s all confusing to me haha
And @DuelingGloves I guess you’re in a different county, but that sounds like exactly what we have with the SAT
@neoking same lol my school is forcing us to take the new test in march but guess who wont be showing up to school the day of…
Guys, are your PSAT scores in yet? I just checked CB College QuickStart and mine were there. Two days early!
ETA: Well, they just disappeared for a lot of people including me. Guess CB caught their mistake…
@foliontai How’d you do? Did it show national percentiles for your score?
I got a 1480 out of 1520 for the PSAT score and a 224 out of 228 for NM selection index. Really happy (but I did way worse in math than I expected…)! Yeah, it tells you your national percentile for each subscore and your score as a whole, but not for your NM selection index.
@foliontai Congrats!
@foliontai Wow, congrats! So I’m guessing 99% all around?
@glassflowers @JuicyMango Thanks! Yes, that was all in the 99th percentile even my 720 in math.
@Cece0499 Lol, I’m considering that option. @coffeeaddicted
So I talked to my counselor about this today, and she told me something that… doesn’t quite agree with the consensus on this website. She said that it’s always better that I have a larger set of data to provide colleges with, so not only should I take the new SAT in school, but I should also go out of my way and take the ACT. She said that she’s seen some students who’ve done well on both tests get an edge or a scholarship over students who only did well on one test.
What I see on this website is that once you’ve passed the 2250/34 barrier (which I have), you shouldn’t worry about these college admissions tests.
Not sure what to do. She is a guidance counselor and should be very experienced, but I just don’t want to study for the new SAT and ACT when I’ve already got a good old SAT score. I’d rather focus on my ECs and subject tests.
Nice job @foliontai Congrats.
@foliontai Do you know how many you got wrong to get the 720 in math?
Wow I really hope I get a 760 in reading+writing…can I still get it with -1? -2?
@YoohooAddict Well, lets just say that math is apparently not my strong suit. I got 7 wrong in math and still managed a 720. I’m actually really disappointed about that since I definitely thought I did better on math, but oh well.
@JuicyMango I got one question wrong in the reading section and still got the 760 in reading+writing, so -1 is definitely fine. Not sure about -2 though.
