I got excited when I saw that one of the science questions on the ACT basically described an experiment that I’d done in class before. 
Hi, I think waivers are only given if you check “release information to colleges” or so when you take the SAT/AP tests.
…out of fear of doing badly on a test/privacy issues, I never checked it. Maybe I should have now to get a fee waiver? Oops.
In hoping for a 32+ on the ACT but I’m really worried 
I got a 33 the last time but with a sub-par math score so I was really hoping that the math would be easier on this text. Alas, I feel the odds aren’t in my favor.
I know it is super early, but has anyone heard back from schools? I have heard back from two that I applied to super early and had a really good chance of getting in. Just curious because I am terrible at the waiting game I know is coming.
@almostdonewithhs I applied to U of Iowa, which is rolling. they get back to you two days after application which is really nice
@tigerman333 Yea, I thought the math was pretty rough, but when they started pulling imaginary numbers on us second question I figured it was going to be that way :P. Science and english were easier than any practice tests. I too was a little crunched for time on reading @jjlundy

Here’s an example common app essay that worked at Yale.

Some people have an affinity for literature. You don’t need a Homeric introduction for a great college essay.
@greeneggsandsam9 This is a bit late, but I took the ACT and I thought it was okay. I think that the hardest section was Math, I know for sure that I got two wrong. English was harder than I thought but it was doable. Reading was very easy for me except for one section, where I guessed on around four or five questions. Science was also relatively simple for me but I feel like I made some mistakes, since I didn’t manage my time well so I had to skim through most of the information in the last two passages.
Then there’s the essay where I mainly just tried to write up to four pages… =))
Overall I’m expecting at least a 30. I got a 34 on my second practice test so I felt very confident about the test, but after seeing what people thought about the test I’m slightly worried that I didn’t do very well. I regret not taking the ACT earlier, since I didn’t plan on taking it in the first place and the only reason why I took it now was just so I had one more standardized test to try before EA/ED.
@Greninja You can always take the ACT again in October, as I read that most admission decisions are considered in November http://blog.prepscholar.com/whens-the-last-act-sat-for-early-admissions-deadlines
I’m mad because on the Math practice tests I did I got a 33 and a 35, but on the test, I’d be surprised if I got above a 30 :((
The deadline for registration is tomorrow BTW, for the October ACT. If you’re not too sure about your score, just invest the $50.
I finished testing last year, and even I feel swamped right now. I have no clue how y’all are managing your classes (which I assume are mostly AP lol), college apps, standardized testing, and any ECs (though I’m taking a little hiatus from some ECs this semester haha).

I know… @neoking I’m not doing any standardized testing this fall, either, but with my class schedule and ECs I haven’t even opened any college essays since the first week of school! :-S
I did not anticipate how hard AP Spanish was going to be. We’re not allowed to speak English in that class and I’m one of the only non-hispanics taking it. Yikes! At least my teacher speaks very clearly so it’s easy to understand, but speaking without “umms” and “uhhss” is really hard because I think in English and translate my thoughts into Spanish sentences.
@neoking I assume you’re talking about AP Spanish Language? If you want any tips, I took it last year and did pretty well on the exam (non native, got a 4 )
@Faultystart Tell me what you did! I’m fine with reading, but I have major trouble with spoken Spanish. I can actually understand okay when talking to a real person, but the recordings my teacher has me practice on are so complex and fast that I get really frustrated whenever I have to do an assignment that involves listening to Spanish.
