Wait… am I crazy? I took that ACT on Sept. 10th after taking a ton of practice tests (mostly math ones). I thought the math was really easy (compared to my practice tests), while the science was hard (well, the last science passage I had). I do know of one math question that I got wrong (it was a triangle… it asked for the area I believe and I forgot to use the PT to find the height, and instead I just used one of the side lengths). I chose (3,1) and (3,9) on the ellipse question as well.
I remember the one with a rectangular figure with a cutout center and a sidewalk made of bricks or something asked for the inner perimeter or area or similar. I just ended up counting the bricks on the sides and using that information to find the inside.
Some of the reading questions threw me off a little bit otherwise I think it was okay
@neoking my class hasn’t been to hard yet but from what everyone has said it’s really hard so I’m excited for that:/. Overall, I really like it since my Spanish classes up to this point have been mediocre. Good luck! AP chemistry is death(not super hard but I really really really despise and hate chemistry, typing this post is making me mad even thinking about it)
Did anyone applying to Questbridge’s National College Match on here receive priority status for CSS/Financial Aid Profile fee waivers?
@QueenOfBohemia Yes I received that email too! The request was easy to submit so I did, and I am happy to be receiving at least one guaranteed waiver BUT do you have any idea what could have made us eligible for this? I didn’t apply for college prep and I haven’t submitted my application so Idk what information they even have that they considered? Unless they access an unsubmitted application? I do have some info filled out…
@blink24 I have no clue, either. The only thing I can think of as to what would have made us eligible is how early we started on the application.
@QueenOfBohemia alright yea makes sense demonstrated interest I guess I started mine June 11 the day after school let out
One of Yale’s short takes is “If you could live for a day as another person, past or present, who would it be? Why?” I was going to say I wouldn’t want to be anybody else, but I don’t know whether that would come off as too self-centered and pretentious. Any ideas of actual people it would be nice to be?
@swim1128 Maybe someone from whose life you could gain perspective, or someone you wish you could’ve helped but couldn’t. Maybe there’s an experience you’ve always wished to have but likely won’t or never will? Is there anything you could’ve seen or participated in, if only you’d been born another time?
Any of these seem intriguing. The best would be one you posit yourself, tho
@OMPursuit thank you!
ACT switched to Tested… time to stress
Anybody else going to the Vassar View Fly-In??? Just got accepted today
Ya girl got accepted into UPenn’s PEEP program! :((
Congrats! I hope you love your stay! @SirSly
I got rejected
@Cece0499
Can you tell me your test scores to see how much I missed by?
I got a 1410 on the new SAT
@Cece0499 congrats!! What were your stats? I didn’t even bother applying because I didn’t think I had a chance haha
@ZBlue17 I turned in all my SAT scores! For the New SAT, I got a 1470 (720R+WR + 750M) ! In addition, I turned in my worst SAT score (from the old SAT)–it was just more honest-- which was a little above a 1900 (I got LESS than a 600 on the reading section–yikes!!). However, all my scores show consistent improvement! I have a 4.6+ GPA…I was VP of two clubs, altar server at my church (I think this gave me an edge since Penn was founded on religious values) etc. etc. I don’t want to give you guys all my stats because that just takes away from you guys as individuals! @Shabeezy And, pssh, a 1410 is freaking amazing! I know other factors helped as well such as minority status, possibly my blatant essay, my recommendation… maybe even the fact that I turned in the application way too close to the deadline. I had literal seconds left. Not even joking. But yeah, hope this helps!
@Cece0499
Thanks for the info
@ZBlue17 Hey, you never know! I thought that for a moment, then just chose to apply! It never hurts, and who knows you might just end up like me: surprised at your odds!
Ayy, got accepted to Columbia’s CE2 (free engineering fly in!).
Apparently get into CE2 almost guarantees getting into Columbia itself so this is pretty exciting!!!
We took the MC portion of first Physics 1 test yesterday (kinematics). I got 15/25 which luckily a 80% after the curve. I was only confident on 1 FRQ out of 3 today due to my calc knowledge. I am starting to worry. I know a B won’t be the end of the world but still…
