High School Class of 2017

@gre3se Stanford! Now just waiting on that lovely rejection letter in December! hahaha

Did any of you get the “golden gopher application” from Minnesota. I got it and applied because why not since they waived the fee and essay and it’s ranked 15th for business. Hopefully it’s a safety.

@tigerman333 I got it too, I’m not sure if I’m applying yet. There doesn’t seem like a reason not to, I guess! Did they require recommendations?

@eyrar99 Nope.

I fly out to Boston/Wellesley on Sunday. At least one of my flights (both to and from) is 2+ hours. I’m compiling a ton of playlists so I don’t get bored to tears. I’m excited.

Man I got rank 1 (out of 18)… although it’s a small class, I feel so good lol…

K I’m filling out a UMD application. It says, “Please list the name of all courses you will complete in your current academic year.” Now leme explain something. So basically at our school, seniors are supposed to take AP Calc AB, but I took it last year and got a 5. Now, the administration is making me retake the course this year, but I will be taking the Calc BC exam. So should I put Calc BC as the current course or AB?

I hope I don’t get deferred because my class is so small (33)

@MissSuzyQ Sorry for the late reply haha I haven’t checked this website in a while! I’m an OOS applicant from Connecticut! What about you?

@Sandy12345 Okay, cool! I’m in state. I live about 45 minutes away from Chapel Hill.

Can someone answer my question above?

@YoohooAddict Did you officially take a course labelled AP Calculus AB last year, or did you just self study and take the test? What does your transcript call your course? I’d call it whatever your transcript calls it–and if that’s AP Calculus AB, you might want to put a note in Additional Information explaining the situation.

@deltea Ya my transcript says AB, so I’ll just put a side note saying i took the exam last year and will be taking the BC one this year. Thanks!!!

My teacher wrote me a very good generic letter (if you get my drift). Still, it’s generic. Even worse, it’s short af. Bye bye Yale!

@hhjjlala A short rec letter could still be good.

@hhjjlala At least it’s not a very bad generic recommendation. Also a generic rec letter wouldn’t be the ONLY factor that could potentially turn colleges off. So I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Good luck with Yale!

We aren’t even allowed to see our rec letters.

@hhjjlala Same. All my recs have such excellent, endlessly positive things to say about me… in such a generic way, and they never really back it up. It kills me.

In other news, I have my MIT interview today. RIP my dreams, dead in a couple hours.

Everyone talking about recs makes me feel so behind. I’m ready to ask i just haven’t . And do you think it pays off to be weird with your college essays because i have an idea but like i said… Its weird.

@Pahalia As long is it isn’t a don’t admit me weird, I think weird is okay
