For a couple years I have unsuccessfully tried to apply for jobs. Yesterday morning I woke up at 2AM bc my biological clock is all out of whack. After doing night owl things, I went job surfing once again. There were hostess and waitress jobs I was interested in on one website, but I let the applications marinate because I was too reluctant to make a cover letter and put up a profile picture. I knew I had to bite the bullet when these same jobs from the same website came up as a sponsored job ad on another website I was on.
Ugh, fine.
I found a picture of myself I liked and wrote a really short cover letter for both apps. On my waitress app I mentioned that I like to tell people to ask me if I’m a tree in an attempt to diffuse tense situations. I submitted this app at about 5AM.
Either they’re really hurting for people or my cover letter was interesting, because I got a response back FOUR HOURS LATER. I now get interviewed next week.
ok i also got a umich acceptance i want to cry i was accepted into almost every school i’ve applied to that sent out results (northwestern, emerson, boston university, american university, occidental, umich) and i’m still waiting on gwu, brown, nyu, usc, and berkeley. i want to cry i was so sure about northwestern but like… i’m middle line again sigh
I found out yesterday that I was waitlisted at Barnard. Even though I got into UVA and really love that school, there was always something about Barnard, and I can’t help being sad about it. I spent a month there at their summer program, and loved it; I met amazing friends and really felt like I fit in. I’m not sure I expected to be this disappointed, and I don’t know what to do to cheer myself up! Hope you’re all doing well.
@gureum I’m premed majoring in Cognitive Behavioral Neuroscience at Warren!! I want to switch with Cognitive Science with a specialization in Neuroscience though
@gureum I feel like it might give me more room to balance the major and Warren’s GEs and the premed track. I’ll have to talk to a schedule advisor before I change for sure though to see if I’m right or not!
I just got waitlisted at my top choice school (Haverford). I’m honored but at the same time a little bit bummed since it’s very unlikely I’ll get off of it (Last year it was like a 6% acceptance rate rip me). I still got into other schools that I’m happy about though so I guess it all works out in the end.
On another note, I just have to wait on Vassar and Berkeley next week, then I’ll definitely know where I’ll be attending. It all feels like it’s coming so soon… It’s so exciting ahhhh
