High School Class of 2017

ahhhhhhh i got waitlisted at stanford and i WAS NOT EXPECTING–

also, final total: 4 wailtists, 4 rejections, 11 acceptances, one school that didn’t want to let me know (columbia) :")

Guys, I’m pretty bummed out. I was rejected to NYU, Penn, Cornell & Northwestern and was wait listed at Michigan, Berkeley, and Chicago. Thing is, given my scores and record, I thought NYU would definitely be a yes, if not for my first major but at least my second major. I also thought Michigan would be a yes. Thing with Berkeley is it’s my dream school. Anyone hear of any amazing stories about people getting off of the waitlist?

@tigerman333

Berkeley has a somewhat low yield, so many get off the waitlist. However, beware because UCs give little to no financial aid for OOS. I will be declining my offer soon, so a spot will open up for you.

@hhjjlala Thanks. I’m aware of the little aid but I’m not getting aid anywhere and my parents are fine with paying for Berkeley. Hopefully my dream will come true.

Final totals for me… accepted by 13 (Yale, Brown, Columbia, Bowdoin, Williams, Colby, Bates, Carleton, Grinnell, UW-Madison, UW-La Crosse, Saint Mary’s University, and Wesleyan) and waitlisted by 1 (Swarthmore)

Still not sure where I’m going next year… Probably Yale or Brown, though! I like Yale marginally better, but they gave awful financial aid, so we’ll see…

Here’s my final total:
Applied to 13 but withdrew one application (Harvard), so I got 12 decisions.
Accepted by 11 (UCR, UCSD, UCLA, Swarthmore, Pomona, Harvey Mudd, Rice, UChicago, Caltech, MIT, Stanford)
Waitlisted by UC Berkeley

I’m probably gonna go to MIT or Caltech. I’m excited to visit!

Anyone here planning to attend Indiana in the fall?

Out of my seven acceptances:

Brown, Georgetown SFS, UVA, UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Berkeley, USC

I have committed to go to Brown after LONG consideration between SFS and Brown (I can’t visit school campuses so I watched 5 hours of campus and student videos).

my acceptances: northeastern, brandeis, ohio state (honors), boston university, umass amherst, and nyu (i guess i got into their honors thing?)

i’m hoping to get off the waitlist at georgetown, uchicago (!! def would go if i get off the wl) and uc berkeley.

i’d like to thank everyone who took the time to read and review my essays (special thanks to @desideratum and @dsi411 yall are amazing <3)

everyone, congrats!! we made it through the college admissions process alive

the schools i applied to and got into and such are nowhere near impressive as half of y’alls, but ill share anyway!

my acceptances: emerson, university of the arts, susquehanna, fairleigh dickinson, ursinus, emmanuel, pitt, temple, and a couple of state schools

waitlisted at fordham and sarah lawrence.

sent my deposit to pitt today! good luck to everyone as the decision making process begins

Acceptances- Indiana (sent deposit), Illinois, UW Madison, Minnesota
Waitlist- UC Berkeley (really hoping to get off), Michigan, UChicago
Rejected: Penn, Cornell, NYU, Northwestern

Accepted: Smith (commited), Hamilton, Mount Holyoke, Allegheny, University of Alabama
Waitlisted: Reed, Bryn Mawr (withdrew my name from both lists)
Rejected: Scripps

My schools might not hold the same prestige of a lot of the ones y’all are listing, but I was really satisfied with my list and Smith has been my top choice since the beginning. I’m a bit annoyed that I didn’t even get waitlisted at Scripps, but I wouldn’t have been able to afford it anyways. I’m also a little bitter about Reed and Bryn Mawr as I fully expected to be accepted, but it’s okay because I would have chosen Smith over them anyways. Smith and Hamilton were the ones I was least sure of getting into so I’m super happy about those acceptances (even though now i need to say no to Ham).

Accepted: LSU (withdrawn), UNO (withdrawn), Grinnell (ED through QuestBridge College Match).

Also applied to Tulane (withdrawn)

I am very proud of all of your accomplishments. Remember that everyone of you has the potential and capacity to achieve and succeed at any college you end up putting in your enrollment deposit for.

Accepted: UMD- College Park, Drexel, Steven’s Institute of Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, SUNY Maritime

Waitlisted: Case Western Reserve

Rejected: University of Notre Dame

Waiting: United States Naval Academy

Congrats to you all! It’s nice to see everyone’s results after months of sharing on here

Here are my results:
Accepted: SUNY Binghamton, U of Vermont, Mount Holyoke, Brandeis
Waitlisted: Williams
Rejected: Barnard, Wellesley, Wesleyan, Brown, Yale, Harvard

I like Brandeis the best but the financial aid still didn’t arrive in the mail so I don’t want to get my hopes up.

Accepted: UW-Seattle (direct to CS), Carnegie Mellon University, Duke (via diversity LL), UC Berkeley, Tufts

Waitlisted: UPenn, UCLA

Rejected: MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Stanford, Cornell, Princeton, Rice, Pomona College, USC

Never Received a Decision Despite Several Emails (lol): Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

(But hey, at least they flew me out there :-/ :)) )

Accepted: CSUSM, CSUSB, Cal Poly SLO, Cal Poly Pomona, UCM, UCSD, UCI, NAU, Macalester
Waitlisted: Wellesley, Haverford
Rejected: Vassar, UChicago, Berkeley, Pomona

Even though I joined this thread late, I’m so happy for y’all getting into these amazing schools. :’)

Congrats to everyone on these lovely acceptances! It was really a long journey and I had such a great time talking about random slices of life with all of you guys throughout these long months. I’m extremely excited for all of you guys for just applying to such rigorous schools and more importantly for getting admitted by them. Congrats again to all of you on your acceptances, and I hope you guys really go far in life!

My results:

Rejected: JHU (Totally bsed this), UPenn (meh, it’s sad I know, but just gotta move on in life. You can’t just get stuck up with this, you have to keep moving with what you have.)

Accepted: UMD-CP (Got admitted into my major (compsci) and into UMD’s FIRE (First Year Innovation & Research Experience) Program): I’ll be getting my financial aid status in a while hopefully. GWU (Got admitted into my major Compsci and received the maximum level presidential scholarship of 30k/yr over five years of undergrad study): I didn’t apply for financial aid tho. I’m actually really surprised for the scholarship amount. Like people had better standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, gpas, etc. than me and I had bsed the supps, but I ended up getting more $$ in merit aid. I feel like my common app essay, though I thought it to be bad, was the reason for this, and I am sincerely grateful to all of you who helped in the construct of the essay. Thank you all so much!!!

Other: Lastly, I had applied to Stanford, but when prompted for an interview, I told my interviewer directly that I won’t be attending Stanford and that I had another school in mind, and because of that, I received a rejection letter. Yes, I could have been rejected even if I did take the interview, but hey there’s always that small chance that I could have been accepted as well. Anyways, it’s all gucci. I might just apply there for grad school.

Anyways, good luck to everyone. As you move on with life, just remember that you guys are great people and that you WILL have a significantly positive impact on this earth. I really hope to meet you guys sometime in the far future. Until then, stay strong and take care of yourselves!

Congrats everyone! I haven’t been following this thread a lot but after all the work we’ve done, hacking stressful nights, and worrying about life in general—we’ve made it
I still can’t believe I won’t be a child soon and I’ll be on my way to college with a handful of responsibilities in my back pocket. RIP

Accepted: Fordham, Villanova, IU Kelley, Macaulay Honors College-Baruch, BC, Bates, Colgate, Hamilton, Lehigh, Lafayette, Davidson, Carleton, Barnard

Waitlisted: Wellelsey (super sad about Wellesley as it was one of my top choices, but then Barnard admitted me the next day!)

Regret: Middlebury (yeah, they have problems with controlling the student body right now but that aside </3)

Congrats guys

For me, my accepted is: Vassar

Applied ED1, got the college app process over with haha. Tbh I’m kinda glad because I’d probably be super anxious over choosing which school to attend.
