Online? @Madeline25 Should we expect a username and password from the school?
@ak3018 Yes, online. You have to set up a college board account to see them. I set one up a while ago to view AP scores and we did get a code from the school to see them. I don’t know if they will make you have one for PSAT though because with AP, we were given the code way before testing and it was put on all of our testing materials. Since there was nothing like that with PSAT, my guess is that it will probably be matched up from you entering student id, name, personal info, etc into the college board account.
Lol thanks @Madeline25 ! Oh and you misspelled my username. It’s @ak2018 not @ak3018 lol
@ak2018 Lol I’m sorry! That’s like the third typo I’ve made in a 20 minute period. :))
@Madeline25 It’s OK lol
:(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :(( :((
We all go back to school on my 16th birthday, which sucks. I’ll miss staying up until at least 2 am and sleeping in until 11 am. I also have mid-terms in 3 weeks and I’m not looking forward to those. I remembered I have fitness testing in PE. I don’t do anything athletic (unless you count exercising my brain :-B ) so it is going to go horribly.
I missed all of my friends and I can’t wait to get my PSAT scores on Thursday. I also get back into a routine which will help me get my mind back on track.
@thetex I didn’t even study for the PSAT, so my scores are going to be raw. At least that gives me a good starting place for studying for the SAT.
@ak2018 I’ve had an account for a long time. I think they send you a code through the email you provided to enter into your account to see your scores.
I read “Of Mice and Men” yesterday! It wasn’t as bad as I thought. The ending was just really weird. Not much really happened in the book, so I’m neutral about liking it or not. I’m generally not a fan of Steinbeck books, but this one was okay. Weird, but okay.
Do you have to have a CB account to see your scores?
Who else has read The Martian?? I just finished it a few days ago and I thought it was a great book. So many plot twist that my brain was going crazy, and I didn’t know what to expect anymore. It was still good though. Can’t wait to see the movie.
@awesomepolyglot To see them online? Yes
@Madeline25 I’ll wait until my school gets them, then.
@tonyk16 The Martian is one of my favorite books. The movie cuts out some important scenes and made Mindy white (she’s supposed to be Korean ;_ but it was mostly OK.
CB sent me an email on my school account a week or so ago to tell me to set up an account so I could view my scores.
I have a question. When we are all seniors and are applying to colleges. Will you guys be posting on the “Chance Me” thread? That thread just gives me no hope. Everyone has a 4.0, every award, or perfect SAT.
@frazzledazzle I didn’t enter my e-mail. I did, however, remember that I filled out my home address and that my student ID was already filled out. I’ll go to the website and see. Also, great that you liked Of Mice and Men. I honestly stopped reading Frankenstein. I feel the annotating honestly killed the book for me. I don’t know, I have nothing against the book, I just like to read more than I like to annotate. I’ll probably try and give the book another go before the test at the end of the month.
@tonyk16 I haven’t read The Martian, never knew there was a book, or seen the movie, but I want to. I find movies set in space very interesting. My least favorite being Gravity and my most favorite being Interstellar. Interstellar and Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey are probably some of the reasons why I love and wish I could major in astrophysics. I find stuff like learning about the 4th and 5th dimensions, and 5th dimensions pretty interesting. But alas, I am destined for Mechanical Engineering. Lol
If anyone can recommend some movies that are set in space like Interstellar and The Martian, I loved to hear them.
Funny Side note: Matt Damon’s characters in Saving Private Ryan, Interstellar, and The Martian have wasted so many tax dollars.
I hope not @apple1893 ! I honestly feel that would a terrible idea. I try to stray away from the “Chance Me” posts on CC. They honestly create more stress than they’re worth. Most of the people on CC are usually really bright students trying to get into Ivy league and state schools and have been preparing since the 7th grade. I didn’t start worry about high school until the year before. I honestly wouldn’t want one.
@awesomepolygot I think so.
@tonyk16 I LOVE THAT BOOK!!! I loved how science-y it is. The movie is pretty cool, too. Some things are different from the book, but that is bound to happen.
@apple1893 I might. I learned from past experiences that it is a crapshoot. College admissions are completely subjective, so the thread is useless. The people on there make me lose my faith in humanity. We should all just do it on this thread, since we (at that point) would have known each other for years.
@ak2018 I’m happy I didn’t have to annotate it. I just have to complete a 3 page worksheet writing about diction, theme, figurative language, etc.
I posted a thread on the “Chance Me” forum a few months ago about wanting to get into Caltech. They basically tried to crush my dreams saying it’s “too early to worry about college” and that my “GPA isn’t high enough.” I now avoid that thread.
@apple1893 I might, so that my grades can shine a beacon of hope to horrified freshmen and sophomores poking around there. I think it would be refreshing to see someone who doesn’t have a 4.0 and still wants to go to college. x) I do agree with the others though, its a generally toxic environment that I might just avoid entirely during senior year. Considering how demoralizing it is now, viewing it as a senior might make me cry.
Just curious now, how did you guys find CC? I actually found it through the Chance Me forum.
@LeopardFire I found it when Google-ing things about Caltech acceptances and what you need to do to get into Caltech. :">
The “Chance Me” thread would probably make even the strongest senior cry. It’s brutal, especially when you are nervous already about getting into schools you like and want to get into.
@LeopardFire I found CC through looking up “Virginia Tech forum” on Google. That was two years ago. I didn’t make an account on CC until just last September. Honestly, I just hate Chance Me posts as they give the people who have 4.0 GPAs false hope and security. I do, however, like @frazzledazzle 's idea of doing one on this page. If we are all still talking to each other by senior year, then maybe we could start doing them on this page.
Also @frazzledazzle , it sounds like to me they were trying to crush your dreams. The fact that they were telling you that it was “too early to worry about college” as a sophomore makes me question if they just magically got those 4.0 GPAs freshman and sophomore year without worrying for a second about what colleges they might want to attend. Honestly, and this is my opinion, if you’re getting a 4.0 GPA that easy, that some of your classes are too easy. You’re supposed to challenge yourself and struggle sometimes.
@ak2018 We should show those parents lurking on the “Chance Me” thread that we don’t need them and that we can formulate our own ideas and keep in charge of our own dreams and goals.
Last year, I had a 3.25/3.75 UW/W GPA, and have improved a lot this year. Those kids on there worrying about college don’t need to, since they are the ones who are brainiacs who don’t even need to WORRY about getting into the college(s) of their dreams, let alone posting on the thread “worried” about college. I am worrying about college NOW and not junior year like they said because I want to be prepared and not freaking out the summer before senior year (or even junior year) about how I’m not prepared for the admissions requirements and stats for the colleges I wish to apply to.
And on another note, who else is going to be having an all-nighter? I know I am lol. I haven’t touched my backpack in two weeks and it’s been sitting in a corner of my bedroom.
I also wonder how many times I’m going to fall asleep in class. Probably 2 or 3 lol
