High School Class of 2018

@frazzledazzle Yeah I didn’t know they were going to start sending emails out like crazy this year or I would have put down an email exculsively for college stuff.

I kinda wonder how they decide who to send emails to. I got a 1400 and ive gotten emails from are CalTech, UChicago, and Swarthmore. Although they are very nice schools, I’m not super intrested in any of them.

Are we posting our schedules for next year? If so, here’s mine (tentatively):

French 4
Accelerated Calculus 1
US History
Non-Fiction Writing (Fall)
Utopias and Dystopias (Spring)
Introductory Physics (Fall)
Physics A (Spring)
Chem B (Fall)
Chem D (Spring)

All of my school’s classes are AP, or so we were told by our counselors when filling out our PSAT forms.

@mutedmornings I guess so! Here’s mine!

Engineering Explorations I/Robotics
Principles of Engineering (Weighted)
AP Chemistry (Weighted)
U.S. and Virginia History
Functions/Trigonometry (Weighted)
Spanish II
English 11

I’m curious as to how many AP’s/Weighted classes you guys are doing?

I’m doing one AP class, AP Chemistry, and a total of three Weighted classes, AP Chemistry included.

Here’s my schedule:
AP US Government
AP US History
PA Calculus (First Semester)
AP Calculus (Second Semester)
Dual Enrollment Chemistry
Some Lit Class Honors
Spanish 3 Honors
Band

@ak2018 That makes a total of 3 AP classes and 7 weighted classes including them

@Madeline25 I received emails from UChicago in the past, but I’m not considering that school. It would be nice to receive emails from schools I’m considering, like Caltech, Swarthmore, some ivies, and a few others. I didn’t get a high enough score for that. I scored 1220 raw (didn’t prepare for the test).

@ak2018 I am going to be in 4 Weighted/AP (2 Honors, 2 AP) classes out of 7 classes total.

@mutedmornings Utopias and Dystopias? That sounds very interesting… What do you do in that class? Analyze literary works that are under that category?

@mutedmornings Do you go to a private school? That sounds rough. :o

@frazzledazzle Introduction to Astronomy sounds neat. I like the idea of learning about stars and planets, though I doubt I’d actually get into the science stuff. ^^’

I think this will be my schedule:

APUSH
AP Lang
Honors Latin III
Pre-Calculus
Chemistry
Classical Studies (One Semester)
Financial Literacy (One Semester)

@LeopardFire Astronomy is what I want to do, so I’m taking the class to learn more about the subject and things in the realm of Astronomy. It would also help me a lot with my science fair project.
That’s a great schedule! I’m going to be taking some of the same classes as you!

@HelloThereHola Yeah, pretty much. I think we also try and relate them to modern societies.

@LeopardFire It’s not really private, but you have to take the SSAT and apply to get in. There’s no real tuition, I don’t think. So… selective admission, I guess? It’s really not that bad, though, considering some of the extra opportunities we get to have.

I got emails from Harvard, Cal tech, U of Chicago, and UPenn, along with a bunch of schools i don’t like. But i’m not interested in any of these schools. As right now the two schools I’m considering are UCLA and UCSB and NYU Stern, and will apply to all the UC’s the only non-UC I will apply to is NYU Stern

My junior year schedule is
Pre-Calc Honors
AP Spanish
AP Lang
APUSH
Anatomy and physiology
Intro to Accounting

My senior schedule will be
AP Calc BC(if I can get an A in honors pre calc)
AP Gov and Econ
AP Stats
English 4
Ap Psychology(online)

I just read that being well rounded is bad in college admissions. That kind of concerns me because I thought that was better. I don’t have an area I’m excelling in really. What things have you guys done to show your abilities in a certain area? I know being well rounded isn’t really “bad” but you still need to show something more in an area of your interest I guess.

@HelloThereHola That is really going to suck because I am very well rounded, and I don’t really have that one subject that I am extremely well at. I think if I were to have one special area it would be math. Other than that I have fairly good grades in all my other classes. I was thinking about joining the math team to show my love of the subject even more. Don’t really know what else to do. I remember seeing someone else on here earlier mention something about PROMYS. I believe it was @apple1893 How is that going/ how hard is the program?

My tentative schedule for next year looks like:

AP Language and Composition
AP Physics
AP Physics Lab
AP World History
Honors Calculus III // Differential Equations
Honors French 7-8
Honors Civil Engineering and Design
Honors Academic Decathlon

But we also might be getting more blocks (!!!) so I might take another class…I don’t know.

@tonyk16 I’m good at math and writing lol. It wasn’t in high school but in eighth grade for a writing competition I won up until the regionals and didn’t win for state. Maybe if I try that same competition again I could do better. For math, I have no idea what to do.

My schedule is as of now
AP Calculus (not sure if AB or BC)
AP English Lit
AP Gov (1st semester)
Medical Career Foundations (2nd semester
IB Chemistry HL
IB Spanish SL
Medical Interventions
@ak2018 my school doesn’t weight :frowning:

@HelloThereHola I’m trying to show a passion for science and community service. I have two cs clubs and am Lieutenant Governor for one of them (key club) so I am in charge of all the key clubs in my county. For science I am in Health Occupations Students of America and a Genetics Club my friend just started.

@wonderfulreads Jesus Christ! “Honors French 7-8” “Honors Calculus III/Differential Equations” You must be very busy.

@wonderfulreads impressive. How did you get ahead so far in math?
