@BucketsUCSC do uc schools look at semester and final grades or only final grades?
they look at semester grades
Wow! You guys have been busy talking. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekends lol. I’ve been studying Talk to you all tomorrow.
@BucketsUCSC Well, so far I’ve done two hours the AP Environmental Science and I would say it’s pretty ok. Some classes are harder than others, thus needing more time.
@BucketsUCSC I’m projecting for the future. My stats and where I place my schools might change over the course of high school.
BC doesn’t have one of my projective majors, and BU is more inner-city in Boston. I love Boston!
@mutedmornings We’re considering some of the same schools! We should keep in touch for senior year when we apply!
What are your stats?
@apple1893 That’s making me reconsider now, too. When my mom was in New Haven 15+ years ago for something, somebody followed her down a street.
@cxprus I’ll take it!
Since everyone is putting there college list, here is mine:
Reach: Harvard, MIT, Cornell, Columbia, Princeton, UPENN (lol I can dream right)
Match: Carnegie Mellon, Lehigh (I got a letter from them), Boston University, NYU (Not really matches, but I don’t really understand what a “match” really is)
Safeties: University of Connecticut, University of Hartford, Fairfield University
I am gonna get a lot of rejections senior year, but this is what keeps me inspired.
@apple1893 I’m probably also going to get a lot of rejections senior year. I try to stay optimistic and work hard.
@ak2018 :c Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Living in CT, I’ve been in New Haven a few times. My family had a beggar approach us once, but other than that I think it is improving. Yale itself looks amazing. I think as long as you keep to the campus and surrounding area, you should be fine. Plus the pizza in New Haven is amazing.
@apple1983 I live in the same town as the University of Hartford! Area is 10/10 would recommend.
@frazzledazzle I pm’d you them!
@apple1984 I can definitely relate. I feel like I’d get rejected from all my schools, except for maybe a safety or two.
@apple1893 a match is a school that is in line with your stats so if you have a ommep scn was around your numbers. Depending on what major STEM Majors Comp sci and Enginerring mainly are extrememley competetive at carnegie melon for comp sci Carnegie Melon is around the level of Stanford and MIT. Our school’s valedictorian last year turned down stanford for Carnegie melon Comp Sci
@LeopardFire I live a town away from UHART, I’m pretty used to the area, it’s very calm.
@BucketsUCSC Are you joining S.N.H.C tonight?
Some days I’m like “YEAH! I’M GONNA GET INTO ALL OF THESE!!” But other days I’m like “How on earth am I going to get into college?!” My stats are
3.9 UW GPA
Freshman Year:
Spanish 2: A+/A
Honors Geometry: A-/A
AP World History: B+/A-
Principles of Biomedical Sciences: A/A-
English 9: A/A-
Honors Biology: A/A
Sophomore Year:
APUSH: B+
Honors Algebra 2: A-
English 10: A
Human Body Systems: A-
Spanish 3: A
AP Biology: A-
ACT: 30 (32E, 27M, 30R, 29S)
ECs: Secretary of Key Club, JV and travel softball, started a club to help include people with disabilities
If anyone could chance me for any of the schools I listed that would be great! I’ll return the favor.
@nyuhopeful44 Your stats are amazing! I think you have a great chance of getting into your matches and safeties, and I think you are a good contender for admission to your reaches.
I’ll pm you my stats/schools.
@nyuhopeful44 I’d say no for your reaches, unless you keep getting As for the rest of highschool, improve your composite ACT by a minimum of 3-4 points, and start participating in more extracurriculars which really show your passion for what you’re interested in and want to go into. Did you take the PSAT? If so, what was your score? Do you have any hooks?
I think you’d probably get into some of your matches and also safeties, as long as you maintain your grades and study more for the ACT/SAT. One or two more extracurriculars wouldn’t hurt either.
@frazzledazzle @apple1893 BU is on my list also, and it is like…a dream school for me almost. I don’t really care if I get accepted to any Ivies. I have a few relatives that went there and they said it was great plus like you said, Boston is great! I sure hope I get accepted.
Some other schools I am considering:
MIT (reach)
UMaine (state school that is cheap so why not?)
USM (same as above)
Colby College (has some programs of my interest)
Wesleyan University (reach)
I have a couple of prestigious schools, but honestly I would settle for a state school.
I love how practical you are. “I would settle for a state school.” I wish i had that mentality. @tonyk16
@apple1893 I would be one of only three people in my entire family to go to college so…state school sounds good to me.
@tonyk16 UMaine is a great school. I’m down to going there as well. Great music program and astronomy facilities.
@nyuhopeful44 I pm’d you.
S.N.H.C (Sunday Night Homework Club) begins NOW
@apple1893 I would join, but I have no homework because of mid-terms. I’m going to work on my science fair project instead. Good luck everyone!
