@ak2018 Of course it is tradition!
@reidd799 Neither do we! :))
@apple1893 what summer program was it? Good luck!
@ak2018 thank you!
@Lbelle43 I competed in A and P, protein modeling, and disease detectives.
@awesomepolyglot no, it was in L.A. I hope your division B team did well! I’m sure you are a great mentor for them.
@Kelvin82 It’s a program at Cornell University
How’s everyone’s hw coming along?
@apple1893 I have two tests tomorrow and something I have to get done for Key Club.
@apple1893
I’m done with online fitness, bio, and photography… still have to do calculus, Spanish, and online English (maybe idk if this will happen lol)
@nyuhopeful44 @snowfairy137 I’m still doing U.S history paper… :((
I finished my exam online, and I started my math homework. I’ll do it tomorrow during lunch probably
No Sleep for me .-.
I’m doing my homework and watching the Oscars at the same time!
@Hamlon I am the only one who rolled my eyes when Stacey was named as the Oscar’s director of diversity? I have honestly lost respect for both her and Chris Rock. :-w
@Kelvin82 They placed 3rd overall!!! I’m really proud of them.
@ak2018 I read a little about it and realized Chris Rock was making an inside joke. Black twitter is going crazy right now because he said…
“Why are we protesting this Oscars? It’s the 88th Academy Awards, which means this ‘no black nominees’ thing happened at least 71 other times. You got to figure that it happened in the 50s, in the 60s…Black people did not protest. Why? Because we had real things to protest at the time. We were too busy…to care about who won best cinematographer. When your grandmother’s swinging from a tree, it’s really hard to care about best documentary foreign short…”
People are mad because he’s saying that we aren’t protesting real issues anymore. He also offended a lot of people with other things he said during that monologue. This is why I don’t watch award shows. Too much drama. Get it? Drama. :-B
I was about to cry before looking into this because Stacey is the ultimate sellout. Fox New literally pays her to say terrible things about her own race. Oh my gosh, if I’ve ever had to name a coon… she’s up there with Raven Symone and Ben Carson.
Hiii guys another fellow class of 2018 here Just wondering, what colleges are guys thinking about apply to as your top choices. For me its between Johns Hopkins and Cornell 8->
@premednny My college list atm includes Carnegie Mellon, Olin, mit, university of Washington, and Worchester polytechnic institute. I’m thinking of maybe adding Stanford cause it has great financial aid, is a lot closer to home than most of the schools on my list, has some good engineering stuff, and why not?
Word of advice: don’t just apply to one college, you should apply to both Johns Hopkins and cornell (and probably other schools) to make sure one accepts you and one gives the financial aid you need
But its all like 2 years in the future so you don’t have to have anything set in stone
Welcome to the thread @premednyy . I haven’t really looked in depth at where I want to go because I don’t even know what I want/need. My choices are really broad because of that.
I’ve been interested in:
Harvey Mudd
Vanderbilt
Duke
University of Texas
Texas A&M
Brown
Stanford
Carnegie Mellon
Howard
Wellesley
…So pretty much all over the place.
@Hamlon Girl Preach! I was thinking the exact same thing. I’m honestly so mad that Jada Pinkett and Will Smith decided to boycott the Oscars. Whether the Oscars is intentionally or unintentionally mainly white, it’s honestly not that important. When it comes to social, or racial, injustice, I would put this whole Oscars thing very low on that list. It’s why I don’t see why this whole race thing at the Oscars was a big deal. It’s just an award show. If you were a true actor, your success should be its own award.
Hey @premednyy Welcome to our thread dedicated to us!!!
My college list includes:
Harvard
MIT
Princeton
Columbia
Cornell
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
Lehigh
Carnegie Mellon
University of Connecticut
lol I dream too much
@ak2018 I think it’s more of an issue of casting in Hollywood, black actors aren’t cast equally as white actors therefore they don’t get nominated for Oscars nearly as much. So its part a bigger problem of racial discrimination when hiring people.
