@sewin2music We’re reading “Night” too o:
@sewin2music “Night” is an amazing book! We had to do it for summer reading and it was my favorite assignment.
@BucketsUCSC We had to read “All Quiet on the Western Front” in AP World. I hated it at first, but my World teacher convinced me that the book’s purpose was to make me dislike war even more than I already did and to not glamorize it at all.
@sewin2music I loved “Night”, and I also read “All Quiet…”
I got a 100 on my French quiz! I literally studied at 2 am!
@averagebean I’m kind of the same way, but it depends on what class it is. I tell myself I’m going to study for two hours, but I just end up studying during my 50-minute bus ride to school. I’ve never had to study this much in middle school. I just used my memory. Those were good times, good times indeed.
@LeopardFire I’m the same way in my Algebra 2 class. It gets so boring that I sleep for about 5 minutes and wake up with drops of droll on my shirt. :)) I just did my test on Series and Sequences today and I think I did pretty well. I believe we did log functions a LONG time ago. I barely even remember that unit. Also, what are Latin curse tablets and do they involve witchcraft or sorcery? :
@LosingCrayon We actually just finished Julius Caesar today. It was actually pretty good. Act 3 was personally my favorite act. Also, Acid and Bases will be the last unit we do at my school for Honors Chem/Pre-AP Chemistry. We’re doing Stoichiometry right now.
@gormar099 Good Luck! Lol “the grind is real”. :))
@BucketsUCSC I’m pretty sure we’ve already covered Rational Functions in Algebra II at my school. It was not my best unit. Periodic trends was one of my better units in Chem. We did that a couple of months ago.
@sewin2music @Hamlon @TrainerGary @apple1893 @LosingCrayon Night was definitely amazing. One of my friends who has different English teacher than I have read it and so did I. I love how the book shows how it is possible for any person, given a good amount of time, to become base and primal. It had taken a year or so before all the Jews had become and become emotionless in order to survive. The only thing they cared about was protecting themselves. The scene where the boy killed his own father for that piece of bread, I’ll admit, made me cry a little.
So English class was pretty interesting. After we finished Julius Caesar, our teacher made our whole class play a game of charades where we had to draw, in pictures, a sentence we were given on the board. When it was my turn, I went up to the board and received my sentence, I laughed a little. The sentence was about a specific girl in our class. I already knew it wasn’t going to go well. especially since the sentence said: (Girl’s name) wedged Santa’s skeleton through a chimney. I was doing pretty well, until I had to draw the skeleton. I didn’t know how to draw a skeleton, that well, so I draw bone. The horrible/funny part is I drew the bone too fast and it ended up looking like a penis and balls. =)) It was terrible, because everyone took it the wrong way. The girl was so mad too and this wasn’t the first time I made her mad. Earlier in year, I accidentally compared her to the Wicked Witch of the West. I’m pretty sure she hates me after this. I should probably apologize. If we ever play charades again, I won’t be drawing. I suck at art and drawing anyway.
So I know we’ve already shared our productive summer plans (volunteering, summer programs, work, etc.), but do you guys have any chilling plans? Any TV series to marathon or books to read?
I want to draw more, read at least three books, watch one movie from my IMDb watchlist every weekend, spend more time outside, and start exercising regularly. I waste a lot of time watching Youtube when I could be doing things more fulfilling and healthy with my free time, so I really want to try and change that.
@LosingCrayon Passe Compose isn’t bad it’s just and annoyance in my life :-< We did a titration too! I took us four tries to get it even close to the equilibrium; the other trials we all way to basic in the end.
@Hamlon @TrainerGary @apple1893 @LosingCrayon @ak2018 “Night” has been probably one of my favorite books this year because of how deep its is and the significance in the message. The most tragic/memorable scene for my was when the little kid was hung but didn’t die immediately and they had to walk past the kid as he was still hanging between life and death.
@neptuna I am going to reread all books in the Infernal Devices-Mortal Instruments-Dark Artifices series. I need to relive the Lady Midnight ending!!! I also plan on catching up on Pretty Little Liars. I’m only on season 3!!
We read Night too! It looks like a lot of people have read it lol. It’s a really good book too.
Also, I started working. They made me do the fries and chicken nuggets lol. Don’t get a job guys. It sucks.
@sewin2music Sounds great!! You just reminded me that I was watching Pretty Little Liars this summer but stopped for some reason. I should pick it back up. I think I might be on S3 too, but I have to check.
Do you guys have a school newspaper? I just found out I was voted to be an executive of the newspaper club for next year and I was stunned.
I’m the laziest person you will ever meet. You can feel the “k whatever” vibes radiating off me.
@averagebean congrats!! We do, and the kids on staff put a fair amount of effort into it but not many people read it, honestly.
@LosingCrayon @sewin2music If I never see passé composé again it will be too soon. It feels like we spent 9 months on it.
@HelloThereHola I’m with u. I work at a movie theater and it sucks
@neptuna I want to keep going to the gym and get stronger for soccer season
This summer I want to
- Take chemistry online
- Do my summer hw
- Work
- Volunteer at my local hospital
- Softball
- Binge watch the Office and Parks and Rec
- Spend time with my cousins
- Study for PSATs and the ACTs
OMG guys. It just snowed outside. It was less than an inch. I’m in Virginia and it’s close to the middle of April, this isn’t common.
@ak2018 It’s snowing here too! I’m in Ohio. I’m kinda heartbroken because the cold weather killed the flowers on the few fruit trees we have. Now we won’t get any fruit. I don’t know about you, but I’m so ready for spring to actually start.
@neptuna Dang! My dad was going to start gardening today, but because of all this unusually cold weather lately, he won’t start until closer to the end of April.
Also, guys, I’m about to go to the library to work on one of my projects for Chemistry class. My topic for this project is synthetic polymers, specifically nylon. I’ll be working on it at the library for about 3 hours. Wish me luck.
It’s been a rough week week for me.
Bad News: 1) I missed some of my zero-hour AP Comp Sci class do to scheduling issues and my teacher refused to take any of the work I missed, so I might fail for the six weeks and can only hope to make an 80 for the entire semester and an 85 for the school year at the most. :(( 2) That same day I had an orchestra lesson and forgot all of my music right before my audition for a competitive youth orchestra. (Luckily, my teacher had a copy of one of my pieces) I was still crying through the entire lesson because of all my bad luck, but my lesson teacher was really understanding. That’s why I love her. 3) I got an email from one of the Summer Programs I applied to. Apparently, my counselor sent my sister’s transcript instead of mine and it was already long after the deadline. I had to haul my butt to her office and ended up missing an entire class period trying to fix the mix-up. 4) I got to my audition today ten minutes late even though I left the house 15 mins earlier than I needed to. My mother went around in circles until we finally stopped and asked for directions from a really nice construction worker. :)) Because of this, I only had 5 mins to warm up and didn’t touch my required excerpt until I started the audition. I really hope I made it in!!
Good News: 1) My orchestra got selected to play at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago next December. Our district might pay for the entire trip. Oh, I almost forgot. 2) I’m turning 16 tomorrow!
