High School Class of 2018

@apple1893

tbh I only have 1-2 grades in for each class since it is the start of a new quarter, but man they are UGLY:

AP Gov - 70 (only a test grade that I didn’t study for, I literally forgot about it lmao)
Hon English 10 - 47 (forgot a HW, got a 75 on a quiz)
Hon Bio - 84 (actually this is okay, only a test grade)

Everything else still doesn’t have grades, but yeah… Not good. I’ll optimistically end up with a A- in AP Gov, extra credit is given like candy in that class, I got several low (not quite as bad as this but eh) test grades and ended up with a 94 last quarter. Everyone has a terrible English grade right now, I expect it will end up as a B as always. However I really need to get my act together in order for that to happen. All of my grades could be A’s if I had tried on any of the things I did poorly on. :s

Edit- Gov grade is a 70 thanks to test corrections, English is actually quite worse but still only two assignments in, I have hope it will get better

@EmZoWe @neptuna I have a late birthday as well and I turned 15 late last year. I’m actually one of the youngest people in my grade :frowning: It kinda sucks but I just deal with it. Finding hospitals to volunteer at was a real pain tho because most were 16+ and I was only 14.

Today was my first day back from break, and it was mostly fine, except for double bio, which goes on forever. orz On the bright side though, the teacher handed back reports today. She literally said “If you only started working a few days before it was due, you should know what grade you’re getting”. I had done all of mine the night before it was due… and got a 99. B) Plus my AP Gov went up to a B, so things don’t suck as much in general! :smiley:

When is everyone’s last day of school? Mine is June 10th. It ends on a Friday, which is nice.

Mine ends on June 17th, is also a Friday, and ends one week after yours. @LeopardFire

@ak2018 our birthdays are so close! Mine’s may 12th.

@LeopardFire I was actually just in Boston (not to visit BU but for something else). BU is a great school and Boston is an amazing area. But I’d also say that BU rides on the more expensive parts of things. I would say pass on this meeting if your birthday means a lot you and definitely go to another.

These past two days have been hard I’m in a huge argument with a friend and it’s one of those where you want the other person to apologize but you know they won’t and your body just will not give in to apologizing yourself. On the bright side, my teacher just sent in my rec letter for this program and it was so beautiful! Also I’m officially committed to the HOBY WLC this summer so if any of you are going lmk!

@LeopardFire June 2nd.
@mamaba My sister is going to HOBY too. Maybe you guys will meet each other.

@mamaba That’s so cool. There are so many people who have birthdays in May on this thread. Did you know you share your birthday with Tony Hawk? I learned that from a Farmer’s Almanac when I was in the 3rd grade. :))

OK guys my final grades just came in. The whole reason I’m not in school today was because it’s a teacher workday. Most of the teachers used this day for putting in final grades. My final 3rd quarter grades are:

Computer Math - A - 95%
Pre-AP English 10 - A - 93%
Pre-AP World History I - B+ - 87%
Spanish I - A - 93%
Pre-AP Chemistry - B+ - 87%
Algebra II - A - 91%
HPE I - B+ - 89%

I’m pretty satisfied with all of my grades, except for HPE I. My teacher said that he’ll allow me to turn in a project I still need to turn in tomorrow. I’ll simply have a grade change which means that my report card will say I had a B+ in HPE I, but my transcript will say I had an A. My GPA for this quarter was a 3.79. My GPA, once the HPE I grades changes to an A, will be a 3.83. Either way, this will be the best GPA I’ve ever gotten.

The GPA that says 3.79 is actually supposed to say 3.74.

You people get out of school really late. I get out May 18th.

I got my class rank today! It’s 70/366 so I’m just barely in the top 20%! Keep working hard everyone!

My school doesn’t end until June 16th :((

So I got my decision back from one of my summer programs and I thought it was a rejection until it said, “As such, we are unable to offer an update on whether or not you have been admitted or waitlisted to the CATALYST Academy at this time.” Therefore, they still haven’t finished reviewing apps. PLEASE ACCEPT ME!

@apple1893 Good Luck!

@ak2018 What classes are you taking next year? I’m just curious what the rigor of my peers’ schedules are.

@savagestudent7

UW - Unweighted
W - Weighted (1 Point GPA Bump)

Engineering Explorations I/Robotics - UW
PLTW Principles of Engineering - W
AP Chemistry - W
U.S. and Virginia History - UW
Functions/Trigonometry (Pre-Calculus) - W
Spanish II - UW
AP English Language - W

As you can see, my schedule is pretty rigorous, if I do say so myself. :)) I’m expecting a 4.29 GPA next year, with the help of all of my weighted classes. What classes are you taking?

@preciousdiamond Ugh, tell me about it. I had been considering a pre med track during freshmen year, applied for a volunteer job at a near by hospital, and was denied because they wanted someone ‘mature’ I read between the lines, they seem to just want someone older :expressionless: One of my sophomore friends got in and she was born late 1999. I think she was 15 at the time. I couldn’t help thinking that if I just stayed back a year, that could have been me.

@neptuna Thank you. ^^ But, I was looking at possible jobs and they are all pretty time consuming. I’m taking a Y2 SAT course over the summer so I don’t think I’ll have time. Tell us how the interview goes!
Ahhhh the license thing though. Some people are already getting their permits and finishing their 6 hours (NJ resident here, idk about other states) Kinda sucks having to get your basic license during college and not before it.

I also have something we could do. I was just thinking about who’d my perfect college roommate would be. Since I’m definitely not a morning person, and I am definitely a night owl, I would not want a roommate who wakes up at 7am. I’d also want a semi-tidy roommate. Not a neat-freak, but not a total slob. Hopefully, my roommate is somewhat of an extrovert to compliment my introvertness. Maybe we’ll even be the same major.

@awesomepolyglot I also get out on May 18th. Next year I start school on August 1st.

@ak2018
AHH I haven’t even started thinking of a major or college to go to, much less a roommate. ;-; But now that you mention it, roommates are going to play an important part in college life. Gee, as long as I don’t get a total meanie or slob, I think I’ll be okay. //but what if I do? the fear remains.

I get out of school… wait for it… June 21.
//internal screaming

I get out of school June 8th, I’ll power through!
