High School Class of 2018

@neptuna That sucks. Is there anything in your community you can do to feel less lonely. Volunteering always makes me feel better.

I just find out that I get to take my AP Computer Science exam in 3 weeks instead of 1 because I have a conflict with my state Biology exam. I have time to focus entirely on AP World and thoroughly go over all of the APCS topics! Thank bEYONCE for the class I hate the most! You may have bored me to tears Pre-AP Bio, but you came through in the end. You da real MVP.

@Hamlon I do volunteer but not as often as I’d like. My family’s schedule is pretty unpredictable and I don’t yet have my license, so it’s hard to do it regularly. At least that does give me something to look forward to! I should get my license around December. After that I’ll have more opportunities to recharge from school.

Lucky you!! I wish the same would happen to me and AP Econ because cough I still haven’t studied for those. Good luck with your exams!

Left school half way through the day to go to a Trump Rally nearby and still didn’t even come close to getting in. The hype is ridiculous!

@neptuna I think I can understand. I’m pretty shy, and the friends I have aren’t in my classes this year. It’s made me a bit of a social hermit, which sucks, but I’m too afraid to reach out to the people in classes. At this point I’m just hoping next year is better.

@reidd799 Ewww :stuck_out_tongue: My state’s primary is tomorrow, and one of the voting locations is in my school. Given how liberal my area is, I wonder what will happen if any Trump fans make themselves obviously known. There are mostly Hillary and Bernie signs in my town, but I’ve been surprised to see a few Trump signs too.

Today the heads of the science department asked me and another girl in my honors bio class about taking AP Chem next year. I guess they want more kids so they can make a fourth class, so they’re asking honors bio kids who haven’t signed up for it who they think are up to the task based on grades and teacher reccomendations. It makes me happy that they think I could do it, but I don’t want to overload myself. I’m already taking AP Lang and APUSH next year, adding another AP would not be fun. It would look a lot a better than standard chemistry though… :s

@LeopardFire Are you in Pennsylvania too? I was at West Chester University today and there were tons of Trump supporters in line and lots of students protesting which I don’t really understand. I mean Bernie’s campaign is over and they were just screaming, not words, just screaming

Ew, Trump.

@reidd799 Nah, I’m in CT. There was a Trump rally about a week ago here, though. I can’t say I’m surprised to hear about crazy student protesters. I wish they knew that they are only hurting Bernie’s image, if anything. :\ Like it or not, everyone has a right to vote.

@averagebean That’s basically how I feel about all of the candidates, expect maybe Bernie. I’m terribly biased towards Democrats due to where I live, but I haven’t really heard good things about anyone. I don’t want to think about voting in the coming years. orz

@LeopardFire That’s what I love about the process though. Some people may feel their votes should count more or their opinions are more important but everyone gets exactly 1 vote. No matter their situation or background

Now I’m bummed because my counselor said it would be too much of a hassle to do late testing because they already ordered the AP exams. They decided to move my State exam to the alternative date instead. Curses!

@reidd799 Technically, the votes of others count more because of location. Take Washington D.C. vs Wyoming for example. Even though D.C has a larger population, Wyoming gets more say over our country’s affairs. There is no such thing as an equal vote in America. When you take into account for those barred from voting because of criminal records, lack of ID and/or access to voting booths, it’s plain to see that not everyone get 1 vote regardless of their situation of background. With money, anyone can “buy” votes by swaying voters by supporting their preferred candidate with large donations via super pacs.

@Hamlon That technicality is going to reflect some tiny fraction of their electoral college representation, but that is correct. Also, “buying votes” can never tick a box inside a voting booth. No matter how many ads are thrown at a person, inside the voting booth they have the final call.

I honestly think this year’s election is like choosing an std that would suck the least :frowning:
If I had to choose I would go Hillary because even though I have conservative beliefs all of the Republicans I feel have discredited themselves, and she’s not extreme as Bernie

I got called in for a second interview at Arby’s. This probably means I’m hired. I’m just a small bean OK this adulting thing has gotta stop.

@neptuna I applied for a job too! I haven’t told my parents yet though. I might be a busser at some restaurant that hasn’t opened. That would be really convenient b/c it is also literally across the street from my house. I don’t mind having a place to work at during the Summer if my plans for Summer programs don’t work out. It feels really weird to be at the age where I’m the stereotypical teenager working their first job at a restaurant because literally nowhere else can/is willing to hire someone whose only experience is falling flat on their face/bottom everyday without fail. They haven’t called back yet, so I’m worried that the position already got filled. Ahh, living the life of possibly being paid $4.25 an hour because of my age. B-)

My Precalculus grade has been dropping for the past month. It used to be a 99, but now it’s a 97 ;-;-;-;-;-;-;

Polar coordinates are hard ;-;-;

@Muufeen ಠ_ಠ Your grade only went down two points, its still an A+. You shouldn’t worry about it! I can barely manage an A- in standard Algebra II lmao

@Hamlon that doesn’t sound legal

Well…didn’t get the job. I would have, but their system didn’t show my birth date and apparently they don’t even hire at 15. I’m disappointed but at least I gained the job interview experience.

@Hamlon I hope you get it! My sister once applied to a restaurant that hadn’t opened yet and got the job. I actually asked about the $4.25 thing and they said that’s only when you’re working in a position that gets tips. I’m not sure if bussers get tips or not.

@reid799 @neptuna It’s called the youth minimum wage. Apparently, that is the minimum that an employer could pay you for your first 90 days, but most just decide to go with regular minimum wage. I know that those in the service industry (waiters) automatically get at least $2.13 per hour if they make $30 dollars in tips every month. What is up with these weird rules for payment?
