High School Class of 2018

@OneNormalKnight Nah! I’m not really of fan of superhero movies except Spider-Man or Green Lantern.

Also, I might decide to go back into the gifted program and take a class next year. I LOVE PHILOSOPHY! And that’s what the class is about. All I would need to do is take a test, and show a project about why I should be in the program. It would, however, likely mean that I would have to take out one of my Engineering classes, unfortunately, do you guys think this is a good idea?

I love philosophy, I think you should go for it. Philosophy is great for thinking skills, and will help you in many ways. that said, I’m more of an art person, so if your going into STEM, then maybe engineering is better for you.

APUSH exam tomorrow. Low key freaking out.

@ak2018 It’s crazy that Trump is leading the Republican race because I used to watch him for years on his Celebrity Apprentice show and he was my favorite entertainer. I just loved it and I would look forward to it every week :)) Never did I think that he would actually enter the race haha. I see him more as an entertainer in the business than a candidate for president. I don’t think he was that well known back then in the media and now he’s on the news 24/7.

I’ve never seen so many people who don’t want America to be made great again

@neptuna this is it! the home stretch!

@bigwho Thanks for the advice. I’ll decide if I really want to take the class after I take the test, if I pass. I’ve been watching Crash Course Philosophy and have really learned to love thinking about the world, instead of making myself worry about my mature thinking and theories about the world.

@preciousdiamond I agree that he is definitely a funny guy, if your own his side or if he’s on your side. I can’t deny that the guy definitely knows how to throw shade. Is his famous “Your Fired!” line from Celebrity Apprentice? If Trump wins, I guess some of those people can say that they were mentored under and fired by the president of The United States. I hope that doesn’t happen and hope those people will never be able to say that as a true statement.

@reid799 Don’t get me wrong, I definitely like Trump’s slogan, but I like it a lot more than I like him. In my opinion, the day America was truly great was on July 04, 1776. I think what would truly make this country great again would be to bring back our founding fathers from the dead so they could finally tell us what the hell they were thinking when they wrote the Constitution. Maybe they’d be able to finally put the whole 2nd amendment argument to bed. One of many questions I’d ask them is whether or not they’d change anything from the Constitution based on society today. I do know this will likely never happen, but hey, if Walt Disney believes reanimation is possible, it is. Let’s just not reanimate Walt though, the world doesn’t need another neo-fascist.

@gormar099 Good luck! Let me know how it goes for you! I’m doing some last minute cramming here.

So since Summer Programs aren’t going my way (not been accepted to any yet), does anyone have ideas on what I could do over the summer?

@apple1893 Volunteer and go on some college tours.

@bigwho I like your profile pic. Is that you? I wish I looked that cool while taking a picture.

Thanks @ak2018 Any ideas that involve a hands-on learning experience. I like the volunteer idea, but anything else?

@apple1893 I’m in the same boat for the summer. I think I am going to email professors at a local university to see if I could work as an unpaid intern/volunteer in their labs. It’s probably too late, but the school is pretty small and unknown so I don’t think there are too many high schoolers trying to get research positions there. If you have a local university, you can try to do that.
If it doesn’t work out, I’m going to try to take undergrad courses through that same school or my state’s flagship. I think most large public universities permit high school students to take certain courses over the summer, and (at least in my state) the applications are still open. Unlike the other programs I applied to, I think they will accept anyone who demonstrates that they can succeed in college intro-level classes. I would definitely recommend looking into that for your summer.

@apple1893 Not really anything comes to mind, only volunteering. Unless you want to go to a summer program, but it’s rare to find one that inexpensive, and even rarer to find one that is free. I’d try searching “Summer programs from teens in (your home state)” and seeing what comes up. Maybe try volunteering at your school too.

@ak2018 Congrats on 1,000 posts! Lol, you know 9 out of 11 of the founding fathers owned slaves? I don’t think it would be pretty for minorities if they came back to run the government. But, I definitely agree with you on the second amendment thing. Philosophy sounds like an awesome class. Go for it!

@apple1893 I also think you could try doing summer camps that has something to do with the major/field you’re going into. For example I signed up for a neurology camp and you learn hella things and get CPR certified, so it’s pretty cool

@Hamlon Thanks. That’s definitely true, it’d probably be really bad if they came back to life, but I’d at least want to know why the made the Constitution way it is, what was their thought process behind it, and what kind of future they had for America. I feel like that future only included Europeans. Heck, if half of them met me, they’d probably be like, “Um, why is this negro talking to me?”, “Get this negro back to his plantation immediately!”, and " Where is this boy’s slavemaster?’ I’d probably say " Yes, I’m black. No, I am not legally for sale and I’m definitely a lot more worth than $50."

Edit: I’m not legally for sale. :))

I have an actual question though: Isn’t Cinco de Mayo basically just cultural appropriation? I mean, we celebrate it more here than they do in Mexico. It doesn’t even celebrate Mexican independence, which is celebrated on the September 16th, it celebrates Mexico’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. It’s funny how we’re celebrating a holiday that is partially based on the defeat of our now ally, France.

Does anyone know if the like, top 20 universities will accept community college credits? I was thinking about taking a course at my local cc this summer but not sure if the credits will transfer…
