My finals don’t even start until June 13th but my grades are so high that I only need to do well on English and French (78% or higher) to finish with A’s in all of them. I can get 50% on my Pre-Calc and Chem final and still get A’s, and I don’t take finals for my two APs.
@Muufeen I love Lemonade! One of my favorite albums next to Ego Death by The Internet. Same thing for me with Orchestra. We’re doing the MidWest conference and I can already feel how busy I’ll be in the Fall. I forgot Orchestra auditions were today and almost went to the bathroom to fake throwing up so I could go to the nurse and miss class. Luckily, my teacher ended up talking the entire class period. I want to be 2nd chair, not last!
@Mufeen LEMONADE IS LOVE, LEMONADE IS LIFE! One question though, who is Becky with the good hair? Another question, who did Jay-Z cheat on? It now makes since to me why Solange, Beyoncé’s sister, beat Jay-Z in the elevator that one time. Everyone’s saying Becky with the good hair is Rachel Roy. Maybe they are rumors. Who’s taking custody of Blue Ivy? Beyoncé, I hope! This album is leaving so many questions unanswered.
I’m currently eating lunch and watching the Princess Bride. Sometimes, I love my school. “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. PREPARE TO DIE!”
This may be late… but your learning Java on CodeAcademy too?? I just signed up from codeacademy and that’d the first thing I am learning as well. i already know a bit about css/html so I decided to learn java. I was going to try to learn android app development next, and I saw you need to know a bit of Java for that. But I want to eventually take all of code academy’s courses now that it is summer. I willl stay up all night if I have to O_O
I <3 stem too
BTW, It’s cool that you guys are using moocs too. I love using edx and coursera to learn new things. but have you guys heard of futurelearn, MIT open courseware, saylor.org and openlearning? May want to check them out for later.
So I just found out today that one of the AP Gov teachers at my school auditioned for Disney’s Sky High as the lead character Will back in the day! HE ACTUALLY GOT TO MEET DANIELLE PANABAKER AND THE GUY WHO PLAYED WILL. He didn’t get the role though, which he lost to the guy who played Will, and instead decided to get his teaching degree and has been teaching and making students’ lives miserable at our school ever since. It makes you wonder what his life would’ve been.
@ak2018 Lol…that’s awesome…and sad at the same time.
@ak2018 :)) :)) :)) :)) :))
Help guys… I just got my summer work for all my classes today. I have almost 200 vocabulary words to define and learn for AP Gov and USH and then 4 chapters to read from the US History textbook. Then there’s two books to read for honors lit. Love life :))
I still have four weeks of school left and I want to pull my hair out ( I also have HORRID grades this quarter, but I literally do NOT care anymore ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Does anyone have any motivation for me to actually do my work???
@Muufeen I feel you, we got our band schedule too, and it’s crazy long lol (starts first week of summer) I’m actually pretty excited though! But yeah, band in the fall stresses me because it’s about 12 hours a week (just estimating) and with other homework and stuff it’s hard, but I really like it too so it’s ok
@IrisShadow be very glad your school doesn’t have SpringBoard. We don’t have them in high school, but we had them in middle school, and they were literally death lol. Like the work was easy, but the most tedious things I have ever done in my life. We literally learned nothing with those stupid books.
Rant over :))
@HelloThereHola I have so much summer work to do too This summer is gonna be so busy since I plan to study and do schoolwork yet I also really want to have fun and go swimming a lot haha.
Hey everyone! Summer’s almost here and I really need to buy some SAT and ACT prep books. I’ve looked up some book recommendations but I was wondering what everyone here would suggest. Help please!
I just took my placement test at my local CC for summer classes. I was placed into Statistics and Applied Calc (have not done pre-calc yet in school). Not gonna lie, the placement test was hard. I got 119/120 in the algebra section (alg 1 and alg 2) it was super hard tho! I got like a 56/120 in the pre-calc portion cause I haven’t learned that yet… I decided I will take Stat!
Well my school caught on fire today…
@Abbiegalie It really is. He is a pretty snarky teacher and has been known to make students cry sometimes.
Also, yes, I have decided to learn Java this summer using CodeAcademy. I wouldn’t remember flying through all of their courses though. As some have said on here, it is best to become very fluent in a language before moving on to another. Treat this as if you were taking a foreign language. If you actually wanted to learn Spanish and pass the final exam, it would not be best to rush through the material. Believe me, I may have an A in Spanish, but I’m pretty sure I’d be failing if we sped things up noticeably fast. Also, as recommended by @Hamlon , it is best to branch out, so maybe after you do Java, and feel that you are fairly fluent, you could try and do JavaScript.
I actually was just looking up some stuff about how long you should take to learn Java and found some pretty good info. If you want to be able to master the BASIC concepts of Java, you will need to set about 1 1/2 to 2 hours a day for about three to six months. To become fluent at Java, you need at least 2 - 2.5 years of experience. This is all according to Quora. https://www.quora.com/How-long-would-it-take-to-learn-Java-if-you-spend-1-hour-everyday
This has slightly influenced my decision a bit. I’ll ask my Computer Math about it tomorrow, as I have to see him for four hours tomorrow. If we had actually finished with all of our Visual Basic units, we would’ve started Python.
For all of the programmers out there, do you guys think I should start with Python instead of Java? I mean, I’ve only had experience with one programming language, Visual Basic.NET, and that’s it. Next year, through my Robotics class, I also be doing a little bit of ROBOTC, which is like JAVA. I’ll go look at Python to see if it’s a good match for me.
@ihavenoideawow AP enviro is a really really easy class, so you should be fine doing it along AP chem. But if you’re doing a full IB diploma as well, I wouldn’t try to take too many APs.
@reidd77 The way you wrote it was very casual (and kinda funny not gonna lie), but I hope no one was hurt. How much damage was done?
@reidd799 My junior high caught on fire during final exams because some genius decided to hide his lit joint in the trash can of the boy’s bathroom. We didn’t think it was serious at the time because the day before another genius decided to pull the fire alarm to get out of taking finals. The next day, the fire alarm sounded again, but by then we were all out of the building for Summer vacation. Still don’t know what caused the second fire to this day. :))
Does anyone know how much programming you need to know for AP Comp Sci A because I’m gonna take that senior year; however, I need to know if I should take the Java class at my school next year for it. I’m going to be takimg AP Comp Sci Principles, so I’m not sure if that will be enough.
