@reid799 savage
Me all semester: After school is over, I’m gonna treat myself. $100–gone. Food, clothes, useless items from Amazon. It’s gonna happen.
Me now: $6 for socks? I don’t know…
@ak2018 Check out this link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/virginia-tech/1893822-thank-you-virginia-tech.html#latest
I think it may appeal to you because of your interest in VT!
@apple1893 I kind of already saw this. But thanks! :))
Wow!! I haven’t been on this thread for a long time! I read through this thread to catch up with all of you lol. I’ll reintroduce myself.

Ugh guys tomorrow are callbacks for my school musical and I have done NOTHING. I’m super bummed because they picked an awful show this year where there are barely any lead roles so there’s no chance of me getting one And all my friends are graduating so it’s gonna suuuuuck
Hi! I wanted to introduce myself too, as I am new to this thread.
Female, 16
Virginia
Indian (Asian subcontinent)
Interests: I love bio like @cookiesandcreme, but more towards its application to humans, like body systems/functions/etc, since I’m interested in pursuing a medical career. Outside of school I’m a ballerina, and I’ve been dancing for over 10 years now. I also enjoy volunteering.
Dream Schools: Duke and UVA
Junior year schedule:
Honors US History (I hated AP World this year!)
AP Calculus AB
AP Physics 1
AP Language
AP Psychology
Spanish 4
Human Anatomy and Physiology (Most excited for this next year!)
I’ve noticed that some of you in this thread are already on summer break… ugh I’m so jealous-- school ends on June 27 for me
What kind of summer activities are you guys doing this year?
I’m going to be volunteering at Sibley Memorial Hospital, which is Johns Hopkins’ hospital, for 8 hours everyday, studying for the SATs/ACTs, completing an online class for school, doing summer homework/reading, taking ballet classes, traveling to India, and interning for a local congresswoman’s campaign.
Phew! Sounds like a lot now that I write it out, lol! Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in a little bit of fun, too However, I’m sure there are many more of you who are doing far more rigorous activities than I.
I don’t think I ever introduced myself so I will
I live in southern Michigan near Ann Arbor
I’m a white 16 year old female
My interests are biology and chemistry and I plan on becoming a pediatric surgeon.
Dream School: NYU, Berkeley, Northwestern, Hopkins
Schedule for next year:
AP Chem
AP Physics
AP Lit
AP Econ
Honors Precalc
Medical Interventions
@ak2018 We have a key club, but they’re even less productive than NHS. I also think 3 community service organizations would be too much to handle for me. I love volunteering, but even I have my limits.
@nyuhopeful44 I’m going to be in Ann Arbor for TASS. Maybe we’ll unknowingly bump into each other.
@sona7662 @nyuhopeful44 Yeah another bio lover!! I am probably just going to be taking classes at my local community college and studying for the USABO, you should look into it since you like bio.
@apple1893 Yeah, I see your point.
Hey @Cookiesandcreme Long time, no see! I saw you on the thread a while back.
@lindsgal We just had our last play here at my school. I wasn’t in it, but they put on a production of Young Frankenstein.
@sona7662 Hi! Always nice to meet a fellow Virginian, such as myself. I’m actually a big fan of dancing. I’ve been self-teaching myself contemporary/modern dance for the past two years by watching YouTube videos. It’s just a little fun activity I do! It’s really cool that we both have an interest to go to UVA. UVA is my second-choice college right now, behind Virginia Tech. I actually plan to major in Mechanical Engineering, especially if I go to VT.
You’ve definitely got a lot on your plate this summer, here’s what I’m doing:
- Taking Health and PE 2 over the summer in summer school (June 27th - August 06th)
- Volunteering at my local library at least once a week
- Going on college tours to my three top colleges: Virginia Tech, hopefully between June 20th and 24th, UVA, and GMU
- Try and find time to study for the SAT/ACT
- Do my summer assignments for AP English Language and Composition (which will likely involve reading a book) and AP Chemistry
- Try and teach myself the basics of Java (as much as I can do on my own time)
- Personal Challenge: READ AT LEAST THREE NOVELS BY THE END OF THE SUMMER! (I'm a pretty avid reader during the summer, so this shouldn't be a problem.)
- Go to King's Dominion with my family (likely on my brother's birthday in July)
- Get my driver's license before school starts (with the help of the Health and PE 2 class for the permit test!)
Yes, I’m definitely going to be a busy, busy :bz this summer. I should call this summer: The Summer with No Actual Vacation :))
@sona7662 A little bio of myself that I copied and pasted from one of my previous posts.

The classes I’m most excited about next year are PLTW POE and Engineering Explorations I/Robotics. I’m finally doing a Robotics class! POE will give me my first exposure to high school physics. Since my current elective, Computer Math, takes place in the same room as the PLTW classes are in, I get to see all of the cool robotics stuff, as well as they get to do each day. I can’t wait to learn how to program in ROBOTC and build robots next year.
Also, because I do this a lot:
Hello and welcome to CC’s official High School Class of 2018 Thread. Here you can interact with other users who have the same high level of interest about school as you. Here, we talk about almost everything associated with school and our daily lives as well. During this time of the year, as I’ve seen so far, we’ve been talking about course selections for next year as well getting ready for junior year. We’ve also talked about school sports and clubs, current grades, internships, summer programs, scholarships, and so much more. Anything you can think of pertaining to school, specifically sophomore year centered, we’ve probably talked about it. This thread, as I’ve seen throughout the past few months, can also be used to talk about personal issues as well. The students on here a very supportive bunch and have helped me figure out problems as well as help me through some of the most stressful times during this year. So, this thread can also be used as a way to de-stress and relax. If you have any questions about anything pertaining to this thread, just reply. Hopefully, you’ll stay for the long haul all the way until graduation. I’ve been on this thread for a few months now and I’ve got to say, it can be pretty addicting. Hope you have a nice time on this thread. Virtual Handshake
@ak2018 Hey, my 7th grade science teacher went to VCU! Did you know they’re undefeated in football?
ugh sorry guys i need to be better about checking this @ak2018 @nyuhopeful44 @neptuna but yeah my mom’s side of the family is from ohio and my uncle is super die hard and always shakes his head when i mention umich, to answer nyuhopeful’s question, i dont actually live in michigan, i go to a private school in nyc so obviously its gonna be tough to get in since im out of state :-S i don’t really want to stay in the city just cause it would be good to get away from my parents but im thinking of touring columbia with some friends in a couple weeks just for education
@awesomepolyglot I actually didn’t know that. I’m not really a person that cares that much about a school’s athletic standing. I would mainly go to a school based on its academic prowess, rather than its athletic prowess. No offense to VCU, I just feel, after looking over through their engineering program, like VCU has an okay program, but can be improved. Just my opinion. The Mechanical Engineering program at GMU is fairly new though.
No… it’s a joke… I’ve read this thread long enough to know that you don’t care about athletics other than track and field… VCU has never lost a football game bc they don’t have a football team…
@ak2018 I’m from NOVA too
You seem super smart, so don’t worry about college; you’ll probably get into most of the schools on your list!
The National Memorial Day Parade was great! D.C. was honestly really hot and humid, but it was a great experience! I got to see all the monuments and even took a picture in front of the White House. I am so ready for next school year y’all! How has everyone’s summer been?
@awesomepolyglot Oh geez, you played me like a violin (I was literally about to type Fidel, as in Fidel Castro, when I really should’ve typed fiddle. I’ve been laughing for the past two minutes :)) ) . I just googled it and they really don’t have a football team. I’m actually surprised they don’t have a football team, since I thought most schools, have one and make it their top priority sport.
And it’s not that I only care about track and field, I’m just not that big of a sports person. School has just taken up such a huge part of my time I barely have the time or the energy to stay up late and watch sports games.
@sona7662 Thanks!
@HelloThereHola You were in D.C. this weekend? I was stuck at home the entire weekend.
