I just saw two more back-to-school commercials. One from JCPenney, the other from Shoe Carnival. I literally love Shoe Carnival commercials! They are so well done and this year’s commercial was no exception! It was so awesome and the choreography was great! There’s a mall near me that has a Shoe Carnival, so I might actually go there this year! JCPenney’s commercial was equally amazing. I plan to buy some Arizona Henley Tees from JCPenney. They are literally my favorite kind of shirt other than flannels. I’m planning on getting some moccasins and Sperry’s from Target, Journeys, and Shoe Carnival. Where are you guys going to shop for back-to-school? I’m planning on getting some clothes next weekend since August 5th is the start of Virginia’s Tax-Free Back-To-School shopping weekend. I really can’t wait!
First day of school is September 8th and I have one more week left of my 3 week internship. I plan to use the rest of my summer to ruthlessly study for the SAT because I realize I’m very behind.
Technically for me summer ended last week, because I have marching band camp 8am-8pm everyday of the week till school starts (2 days off before school starts).
First day of school for me is the second to last week of August. It’s coming up too fast :((
Anyway your ACT/SAT matters only to a point. If you got a 36 ACT and don’t seem to have any emotion on your applications, it will most likely get rejected. If it is a 30, and you have beautiful essays, stellar recommendations, and awesome ECs, you will most likely get accepted to elite universities. It can only boost your application, but if the rest of it is great and your ACT is not as great, it won’t matter as much.
Has anyone used the new blue book for the SAT? How effective is it? I finished the Princeton book easily but I need more prep. Any other books you guys would recommend to study from for SAT/PSAT?
My parents signed me up for the Kaplan Prep. I know everyone on here will hate me for it, but Its’ hard for me to explain. I’ll be doing this alongside the Khan Academy stuff until October 1st (I hope). Hopefully I will do well like all of you. Again tho, please don’t bash on me for joining a prep course.
@wildguy57 don’t buy the blue book you can find the same tests online for me
@apple1893 I think khan academy is a really shitty prep course it is good to learn the fundamentals but after that they advise using strategies that will take far too long and won’t allow you to finish the real test
@BucketsUCSC What would be a strategy they recommend that wouldn’t allow you to finish? I can’t think of any legit strategy that would waste so much time that you wouldn’t finish.
To everyone that is taking AP Chem next year or ig have already taken it any tips on memorizing all the ions and polyatomic ions and stuff.
@kassh4 u do khan academy, i thought you were studying for the ACT
Anyways for reading he tells you to read the passage so close and highlight every important detail
leaving you little time to answer the questions coming from a perfect scorer on reading i know there is multiple ways to approach the passage but reading closely and annotating is not a sound strategy. You have to skim
@BucketsUCSC I was doing the ACT, still mainly studying for the ACT, but someone told me that math is half the SAT score and thats my strong suit so I decided to give it a try,so I might do a little bit of both but right now I’m really enjoying the SAT. They give you so much time for the reading section. Also I decided to take the PSAT so I figured it cant hurt to study for the SAT a little bit.
p.s give me your reading skills fam
LOL gimme your math skills @kassh4
the prob with reading is it’s so inconsistent i got a perfect score on practice test 3, but practice test 1, 2, and 4 i got a 39/40, 38/40, 38/40, so i’m at the point where i just have to hope I like the passages on test day
and my highest score is also 1450 like you, but my highest superscore between tests is a 1480. I know i can do better on math though
@BucketsUCSC How hard is it to go from a 1450-1490 ish on the SAT?
what are your subscores
