@sewin2music Heey we’re taking the same AP classes!
@fuzzypolarbears Cool! At least now I will know that someone else has subjected them-self to the same amount of work/torture as I have :)) Lol Jk.
I just took a full length practice ACT and I did show improvement! I took it last december and got a 30C and am now shooting for a 34 in september.
December ACT: 30C, 32E, 27M, 30R, 29S
Practice: 32C, 34E, 30M, 31R, 32S
Goal: 34C, 35E, 32M, 34R, 34S
I plan to use the next few weeks to really work on the math and science sections. I feel like science has the easiest questions but I’m rushed the most. Overall, I’m pleased!
@nyuhopeful44 Congrats! I wish those were my ACT scores. Sometimes, I really wish I didn’t test out of Geometry. The first time I took the practice test, two weeks ago, I got a 24C. I’ve actually started prepping officially today, so hopefully, I’ll be able to reach my kind-of-low goal score of 30C. If I feel I can get there, I’ll raise my goal score to 33.
I’m taking the ACT for the first time in April. Any tips to help improve my prep between now and then would be greatly appreciated.
My scores for the last ACT practice test I did were: 24C, 24E, 25R, 25M, 21S
@ak2018 I feel ya on the video thing. I had my laptop in front of me so I could look at the lyrics…but it was pretty impossible to keep that screen from blacking out LOL.
@sewin2music honestly the truth tho lol
I have to annotate a whole book and I really don’t want to do it :((
@bubblylaugh I believe you’d have to put the lyrics in a PowerPoint presentation. I’ve learned that’s one way to keep the screen from going into screensaver mode (blacking out).
I just wrote everything on a piece of paper and put it right above my phone, which was right next to a wall. I don’t know how those news anchors on TV are able to read the teleprompters as if they aren’t reading anything! :)) My pupils kept moving as I would read so it was pretty obvious that I was reading from something. :))
Well, today’s the day of my Robotics Club Meeting. It feels like I’m going back to school! I’m going to be there for 3 hours.
@fuzzypolarbears Is it for AP Lang? I’ve never had to annotate for homework!! You can do it!!! Just push through!!! For my AP Lang class, I had to read Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, write 2 essays and right chapter by chapter analysis on Amusing Ourselves to Death. Both novels were pretty good, but I just don’t like writing. X_X
@fuzzypolarbears I remember having to annotate Frankenstein last year. It was awful and there were times where I honestly wanted to give up because the annotations took way too much time for me to do. But I, somehow, got through it. The annotations themselves were for just for extra credit, but the main reason I did them was to show my English teacher that I belonged in his class. I definitely impressed him with my annotations. They were so good, my English teacher couldn’t believe I was the one who did them. I got a 96 on my annotations BTW.
Why did I have to procrastinate so long lol I only have half the annotations done for Frankenstein and the first day is tomorrow
@Soccer1235 I would definitely get to reading if I were you. The book itself is really interesting. If you’re having trouble staying focused on reading the book, like I did when I read the book, then you could go on YouTube and look up “Frankenstein Audiobook”. Or go on Google and search for “Frankenstein Audiobook” and you should be able to play and download the entire audiobook for free.
Which part are you at anyway?
I just got back from my Robotics meeting and it was great! I’ll go ahead and give a brief description.
So, I got into the school through one of the doors to see my school’s marching band having Chik-Fil-A (Nothing’s really changed about that! That’s pretty normal! :)) ). So I head to the engineering/autotech hall and see that things have definitely changed. For one, I felt 3 inches taller now than when school ended two months ago. Also, apparently, my school is getting all of their floors redone. All of the classrooms on the first floor had already had their floors redone, so I checked inside to ee that the Engineering room looked brand new! So I went in to check it out and to also see if my old phone charger was still there. It wasn’t. :))
@ak2018 thanks for the tip!
Anyway, I eventually found my way to where the Robotics meeting was being held, which was in the construction room, and saw both new and familiar faces. I also saw the football team in the weight room right across from us and said hi to a few of my friends. So I sat down and saw that there weren’t that many people there. There were two new freshmen.
So, we pretty much talked about how we were run things this year. I’m no longer going to be part of VEX for the most part, except for my Principles of Engineering class. I’m basically going to mainly be doing FRC this year. So we planned to do a pre-build season project where we divide everyone into two teams to kind of get a feel of how the actual build season would be like. The project is for each team to build a very large robot by mid-October, just in time for the pep rally, and we’ll have both robots compete in a game of Roccer, or Robot Soccer (I thought of the name :)) ).
After that, we just decided to clean out the closet and move all of our stuff to reorganize as well as taking stuff apart. I decided to go ahead and take on the task of creating an organization system for all of the shelves. After we finished cleaning everything out, we were finished for the day. I talked to the club president and she said she’s meeting the new teacher on the the 15th. I also told her I’m starting a YouTube channel. She told me that both of the Engineering Explorations 1/Robotics classes will take place at the end of the day, so I’ll have the class either 6th or 7th period.
I just finished the part when the dæmon told his story. It’s a fun read, but the annotations take too long
@bubblylaugh You’re welcome!
@Soccer1235 Oh, that’s a good part. The story starts to pick up once Victor goes on his honeymoon. Just wait until it all ends in the Arctic. (Anyone who hasn’t read this book will be totally confused.)
And because I can’t resist…
** Spoiler Alert:** At least two more people nearest and dearest to Victor’s heart will die at the hands of his creation, who he left “solitary and abhorred”.
BTW, how you noticed how many times the word “countenance” appears in the book? It’s probably Mary Shelley’s favorite word! :))
The annotations took me HOURS to do!
I read the book earlier, but for whatever reason, refused to annotate it until now. It does appear a lot lol!
@Soccer1235 I read the book and annotated it at the same time.
Well, I just found out I’m going to be walking a mile to get my new bus stop this year. Because apparently, my original bus stop didn’t have enough people signed up for it. I go to my school for a specialty program, so if not enough people sign up for a bus stop, that stop will not be put on the list.
