@ak2018 I think im taking both(lol hypocrite when i told you to focus on only 1). I took the first khan academy test and i did fairly well. I think that the SAT would be easier to go up in by looking at the subscores. Im still taking the ACT cuz my school has an ACT prep class during junior year so that might help me go up.
@TP2000 MIT has a free textbook for single-variable calculus (which encompasses both I and II, or through BC) here:
http://ocw.mit.edu/resources/res-18-001-calculus-online-textbook-spring-2005/textbook/
Good luck!
@OMPursuit Thank you for the resource.
So is this act global book giveaway legit? Not a scam?
Yup. @wildguy57 The company that is doing this, Ivy Global, is pretty respectable.
@wildguy57 Yup i got mine in the mail 2 days ago.
It took forever got here tho. Who am i to complain about free book, right ?
@kassh4 Are they doing one for the SAT?
@kassh4 No worries. I was potentially planning on doing both anyways, but, as of right now, will only prep for the ACT. If I get a 1200 or higher on the PSAT this year, then I will consider taking the SAT. It kind of hurts a lot more knowing that I was only 10 points off from getting 1000 on the PSAT. If I am able to meet my goal of getting 1200 or higher on the PSAT, I’ll probably do a little prep for it.
Edit: I’m pretty sure I can get around a 1200 this year, considering that fact that I omitted so may questions on last year’s PSAT. I had only omitted those questions because a) I didn’t get to those questions and b) I thought there was a guess penalty this year, when there wasn’t.
@Tobster18 They already did, however, that giveaway ended a few months ago.
Oh that’s too bad, guess I need to ask my dad for his credit card again…
@Tobster18 LOL, I know how you feel! Are you sure you can’t just get a couple of books from the nearest library to you?
Ivy Global actually did another giveaway for the SAT just last month, but that ended in just 24 hours!
Also, I saw this post on the AP Chemistry (2016-2017) Thread that was honestly really good advice. I felt the advice was good for AP Bio too.
I can especially relate to this. Bozeman Science and Tyler DeWitt’s videos SAVED me when it came to learning about Stoichiometry, Limiting Reagents, and Percent Composition. I had missed our first day of learning about Stoichiometry in my Chemistry class, as I was at the Lockheed Martin Minorities in Engineering Day, and Bozeman Science came to my rescue!
Do you guys think that the Ivy Global ACT Giveaway ended?
Also, remember how I said I was going to make a YouTube channel and post up my first video? Well I’m planning to upload MY FIRST VIDEO TODAY!!! I’m planning to do most, if not all, of my recording from my laptop camera!
This is the link to my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC1zc-zm-kUSLV_5FDqzLeg
My channel name is: The Great Teengineer
Teengineer is the combination of the words “teenager” and “engineer”!
Hope you guys like it, I’ll post the link my first video here once I’m done!
@bubblylaugh No, it hasn’t. The SAT one ended, not the ACT one.
@ak2018 Glad to be your first subscriber.
Alright does anyone have an updated link of a giveaway for act that is still going on?
go on r/ACT and search ivy global it should come up @wildguy57
@wildguy57 Apparently, there are two ACT giveaways that are still running. I signed up for the second and mistakenly assumed the first was closed. Guess I have to wait a little longer for this book. Type in:
