@ak2018 yes. Yes she is. I’ll reserve my spot at the SNHC in advance this week lol
Looks like there’s a reserved seat at SNHC with my name on it too! I want to get ahead on Chapter 5 notes for APUSH, do some make-up Harkness questions on Schoology for AP Lit, and practice for the PSAT a bit (I’ve been slacking on my Khan Academy practices).
I actually do have a bunch of homework this weekend, though!
Spanish 2: Write Each New Vocabulary Word 5 Times OR Make Flashcards DUE MONDAY
Functions/Trigonometry: Catch Up on Notes I Missed From Last Class and Study for Quiz I Also Missed
Engineering Explorations 1/Robotics: Finish Up The 12 Isometric Drawings in Autodesk Inventor and Start Multi-View Drawings DUE END OF CLASS ON TUESDAY
AP English Language and Composition: NONE
PLTW Principles of Engineering: NONE
U.S. and Virginia History: Finish Definitions from Unit 1 and Finish Declaration of Independence DBQ
AP Chemistry: Finish Client Letter for Lab DUE THURSDAY
I’m also reserving my spot for the S.N.H.C.!
I’m gonna join y’all!
Calculus: Appendix D, chapters 3.3 and 3.4 from Stewart Calculus (trig identities/derivatives, chain rule, derivative of b^x)
Chemistry: read 4.1 through 4.5, start chapters 5 and 25 (nuclear chemistry), finish homework sheet on atomic structure (I did all but one problem in class >.>)
PoE: nothing, I did the Ohm’s law/Kirchoff’s laws problems and packet in class.
Global Perspectives (Eng + Hist with current events slant, two blocks): write persuasive speech/presentation and finish essay on refugee crisis in Europe
Film Lit: finish essay on the Hayes Code, and then another on masculinity and femininity in film noir
I missed a day and, consequently, a whole movie, so this is just getting the groundwork down; I’ll probably turn it in while watching the film in earnest. >.>
Spanish III: no hay nada este domingo
Visual Communications/Photoshop: nothing right now
Questions for Anyone Who Has Taken AP Physics 1:
I’m currently undecided on whether or not I want to take AP Physics 1 or Regular Physics next year. I think my main concern are the formulas. Would we have to remember a lot of formulas? Based on how I’m doing in POE and AP Chem, when it comes to remembering formulas, I’m perfectly fine.
I’ve asked a couple of my friends, who are in AP Physics 1, for their opinions on the class. One friend from my AP Lang class said that AP Physics 1 is actually helping her with AP Calculus AB, which I thought was weird since I thought Calculus doesn’t really come until AP Physics C. Another friend said that you really need to pay attention in AP Physics 1. Since I already pay attention in AP Chem, I think I’ll be fine there. Another one of my friends, who is in three of my classes, said that, so far, nothing we’ve been doing in POE has been gone over in AP Physics 1.
I’m still really trying to decide. I know I have the whole year to decide. I went ahead and made a pros and cons list for taking AP Physics 1
Pros:
Would give me a pretty in-depth introduction to Physics
Would look very good on college application as a prospective Engineering
Would likely make taking my freshman Physics class easier
May help me in Calculus
Cons:
Would not receive AP credit as ALL colleges I’m applying to only give credit for AP Physics 2 or C
Would likely make my senior course load heavier
Will likely look bad on transcript if I get a bad grade in it (I really should not have a bad grade in this class if I’m planning on being an engineer)
I’m just wondering whether or not AP Physics 1 is really worth taking next year, especially since I’ll likely have to take Freshman Physics in college. I would hope the same things are not going to be taught over again. So yeah, for anyone who has already taken AP Physics 1, what’s it like?
@OMPursuit We’re still on Simple Machines! :)) I feel like our class is just slow.
@ak2018 I’m probably not going next weekend. My family might go at the end of the month since there’s an Open House, a McGill Symphony Orchestra concert, and a special event at the McGill Space Institute by the director of the Keck Institute for Space Studies at Caltech on asteroid retrieval.
@nyuhopeful44 I forget what my homework is right now. I’ll post it tomorrow, though, when I’m doing it.
@Marg532 Your class for APUSH is only on chapter 5? We’re starting chapter 7 in my class on Monday.
Mid-quarter was on Friday! I’m so happy with my grades so far this year! There’s room for improvement in some of my classes, but I’ve impressed myself in others.
AP Language: B-
APUSH: B+
Calculus: A+ (shocked, tbh)
Hon. French 4: A-
Hon. Chemistry: A
Hon. Band: A+
Watching the Red Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays baseball game right now. Red Sox are losing 3-2 in the 7th inning. Hopefully they’ll win and get home field advantage in the American League championships!
haha, don’t worry @ak2018 , my class is also slow p.p
I’m pretty sure I’m the only(?) one who really understood the circuit questions, so I ended up being a TA for the last few classes and just doing worksheets my teacher would make in Inventor
Simple Machines was the same way, too; I swear we’d be at the same place if we’d started at the same time!
on the one hand, all this teaching is giving me a really good grasp of the material
@frazzledazzle , sorry my Texas Rangers wrapped up home field for AL last night.
@VANURSEPRAC It’s for AL East Red Sox vs. Indians. They lost. Now 1/2 game behind. Still have tomorrow to pull through. Sometimes I don’t know what I’m talking about. lol
@OMPursuit I don’t think I’m even good enough to get a 2 on AIME, and the schools I’m applying to don’t require your score so I think the “AIME qualifier” would be good enough, for my standards atleast.
My first quarter ended yesterday so I am officially on my fall break. I got straight A’s and I was enjoying my classes, but it is nice to have a break. I am going to prepare for the PSAT over fall break so I can hopefully become a national merit semifinalist.
My AP Chemistry teacher assigned 9 FRQs to do over fall break and I have two chapters to read for APUSH (12 and 13 I think) but other than that, I don’t really have any homework.
@frazzledazzle My school only started around 5 weeks ago (5 week progress reports come out on Friday), and we’ve done a chapter a week except for last week (he wanted us to focus on studying for our unit test). He plans on having 4 weeks of review before the test in May, so he’s assigning us chapters to do during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring breaks so that we don’t fall behind.
@ak2018 I’m in AP Physics 1 and so far it hasn’t been too bad. There are formulas that you have to memorize but I think they would be covered in a regular Physics class anyway. If you are applying to an engineering school they’re going to want you to have AP Physics
@nyuhopeful44 Thanks!
@Marg532 School started for me on the first of September 4 weeks ago.
@frazzledazzle Well I don’t know then haha maybe we have different textbooks? Either way my APUSH teacher has always got the class prepared for the test on time haha
@Marg532 Are you using The American Pageant? That’s what my class is using. Maybe school schedules are weird. I don’t know. Either way, we’re both going to do well come May.
Well, I am currently seeing the repercussions of missing one day in Pre-Calc. I’m not understanding what the heck we’re doing!!
Everyone seems to be stressed with homework…I have none, thanks to homecoming weekend.
