My AP Lang teacher gave me a syllabus that included all of the books and excerpts we would be reading this year. Here they are:
Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God
Pudd’nhead Wilson
Ethan Frome
Spoon River Anthology
Glass Menagerie
Death of a Salesman
Raisin in the Sun
Washington Post
Washington Times
I’m a little disappointed because I got a 1470/220 on practice PSAT 2 based on psat one’s scoring scale. I know exactly where I went wrong though. In reading, I missed a question because I misread it which caused me to miss the proof q right after it.
Does anyone know where I can find the scoring scale for practice test 2? The app only lets me scan for #1.
At least I know for sure that I’ll be commended and borderline NMSF for Texas!
We’re reading the Heart of Darkness for AP Lit and while the storyline is okay it’s a very hard read–it takes me like 10 minutes just to finish a page!
@Hamlon Yeah, I couldnt find the scaled score anywhere. I’m hoping that its not the same scale cuz i went down a BUNCH from the first PSAT practice test to the second one.
@kassh4 The reading on the second was a lot harder than the first, so fingers crossed. The Thoreau/MLK passage stressed me out so bad I couldn’t focus very well, but somehow that wasn’t where I messed up. To heck with the elk and the wolves! :))
I basically failed my PSAT practice test, did much worse than I did on the real one last year. I hope it was just a fluke (I wasn’t really focusing; after finishing a section, I just got up and ate something before time was up).
@ak2018 Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God is interesting. We read it last week in my APUSH class. Puddn’head Wilson is a weird book that, in my opinion, is not fun to read. My English class read it in 7th grade.
I haven’t taken a PSAT practice test yet. I’ll probably take one next weekend. I really need to get going with doing practice problems on Khan Academy. I haven’t done any in a few weeks.
Question: What do you think your strength and weakness will be once admissions officers see your application?
Your Personal Info (Your Ethnicity, Where Your From, Etc.)
Your Standardized Test Scores (SATs and ACTs)
Your Grades and Classes (Did You Challenge Yourself? Do You Have An Upward or Downward Trend)
Your Extracurricular Activities (ECs)
Your Essays
Your Recommendations
Strength: (My Grades and Classes) Because they truly show that I’ve challenged myself and that I am able to rise to the occasion, if need be.
Weakness (My Standardized Test Scores): Because I haven’t been studying lately and I’m pretty sure I’ll barely make it above a 1150.
I also wanted to go ahead and ask anyone who has taken AP Physics C a question.
I’ve been flirting with the idea of taking AP Physics C, instead of AP Physics 1, after hearing that it is more math based. I may be way in over my head here, but is it okay to not have done AP Physics 1 and go straight to AP Physics C without really any Physics knowledge? I’m currently in Pre-Calc, and am doing really well, and would be in Calculus AB next year. Is it possible?
My relative just asked me on the phone, “How is your junior year going?”
In my head I was thinking, “Well, my Practice scores for my SAT are still terrible low, I cant get above a 600 on a practice subject test, I haven’t gotten above an 83 on a paper for my humanities class, and I am super scared my GPA will drop…”
I responded, “Pretty good” and went in my room just to think about whether or not I am actually as smart as I thought I was…
@Hamlon I had no idea what the first part of the MLK passage was about and somehow i didnt miss any of those questions but I missed stuff i thought i got right. l
