High School Class of 2018

Even though it’s only October, I went ahead and made a tentative senior schedule for next year. I thought it’d be cool to make one now. Definitely leave your opinions and critique.

  • = Weighted

PLTW Engineering Design and Development
+AP Computer Science A
+AP Physics C
U.S. and Virginia Government (Non-AP Version of AP U.S. Government)
+AP Calculus AB
+AP Economics (AP Micro/Macroeconomics)
English 12

I have decided, at least for now, that I’ll give AP Physics C a try next year. Who knows, it might be interesting.

Yooo SNHC what’s up

I only really have to get a lab done for bio but it’s maybe 8 pages so…

I’m here for the SNHC! I got everything done except those stupid annotations

I don’t think I have any glaring weaknesses but there are parts of my resume that could be better.

I’ve been working on homework since I got up (at 2PM lolol) so all I have left to do is read two essays in English and identify the thesis and write about a quote from each. Its due Tuesday, the next time I have class but I really should do it tonight because I’ve been procrastinating. I love doing my math and science homework, which is good because 3 of my 4 classes this quarter are math and science, but English, not so much.

Guys I don’t know if I am going to make it this year, I think I bit way more off than I can chew!!! :((

I had a plan to do a whole bunch of homework or at least a bit of PSAT prep but after I got home from work at 8 I decided against a lot of it and just did the makeup Harkness discussions for AP Lit on Schoology.

As for strengths/weaknesses, I feel that my grades and classes will be a strength (for the most part, I take challenging classes, and if I don’t take a challenging class in one area - for me that’s science this year and next year - I take one or two in a different area to make up for it) as will my essays (English and creative writing is a forte of mine). Standardized testing will probably be a weakness, because I always psych myself out on big. important tests. I might surprise myself though, because I’ve been getting better at taking the regents’.

@Tobster18 how bad is it. How are your grades so far

I got 4 pages of the lab done

Whoops

One of my teachers worked at Rice University; he said GPA isn’t the most reliable source of information with students taking easy classes and inflating their GPA. He said it’s the 7th out of 10 important thing universities look for (1 and 2 are test scores and transcripts). Don’t freak out over bad grades, but definitely don’t slack off.

I really need to take a practice PSAT. I’ll probably only get a 1300. lol. I need to do a lot better (~1400). Back to studying on Khan Academy. It’s go time!

I got a 98% on my Chemistry test! <:-P Chemistry is a good subject for me. It’s pretty easy. I know I’m doing better than my sister so far this year (we are competing for who can get the better grade since we’re in the same class)!

I think I’m stuck in a predicament right now regarding the science SAT Subject test. I could do it for Biology since it has AP level questions, but I got a 3 on the exam. I’m only taking Honors Chemistry, not AP, so that’s probably out of the question even though I’m doing really well in my class right now. I would have to self-study a lot of material for the exam and I probably don’t have time to do that. I would like to do it for Physics, but I’m not taking AP Physics until senior year and I need to have the test done by then. Ughhhhhhhhhhhh

@frazzledazzle I am in the same predicament for subject tests

@frazzledazzle subjects tests are easy; they’re an hour long versus the 3-4 hour long AP tests. Also, I’ve got Physics and it sooo difficult.

@CoolCakes The only problem is that I didn’t do so well in AP Biology last year (I got a 3), and I heard that the problems are AP level problems. Otherwise I would do it for Chemistry. I think I’ll just take the ecology test for Biology and Math II.

Do you have to take both the SAT and ACT for college? I know a lot of them say either one is fine but is it better to take both?

@Cookiesandcreme If you get a good score on one, there really isn’t a point in taking the other.

Strengths and Weaknesses:

  1. Your Essays - writing is the one thing I’m good at :’)
  2. Your Standardized Test Scores - I’m an okay test taker
  3. Your Grades and Classes - I think they’re good for the schools I’m applying to
  4. Your Recommendations - shouldn’t be bad, shouldn’t be amazing
  5. Your Personal Info - nothing that really stands out
  6. Your Extracurricular Activities - I’m not really that involved

So at my new club, Study Buddies, I expected only 20 or so people to show up but we got like 35 and there are more that want to join but couldn’t due to a conflict (they can sign up later)! This is really good, and now I can do the tutoring for all the middle schools!

APUSH is so hard at my school. Everyone is freaking out because they have a quiz Wednesday, and then an actual AP style unit test this Friday.

I’m so glad I dropped the class.

I have 100 tests this week
Tomorrow: Unit 2 test for Honors Precalc (this will be our only grade in the gradebook so I have to do really well) and Heart of Darkness quiz for AP Lit
Wednesday: Medical Interventions test
Friday: AP Physics quiz

Okay now that I typed it out it doesn’t seem like much. But idk I’m stressed >:P

@nyuhopeful44 That was me last week

I have my Unit 2 Pre-Calc Test on Friday.
