I also just realized that our school has a policy that states that juniors and seniors who have an A in a certain class all year will NOT have to take that class’s the final exam. This should definitely give me motivation to get an A in all of my regular non-AP classes. Here’s how the policy works for each of my classes:
Spanish 2 Final Exam Exemption: Have an A average all year (meaning have an A every quarter).
Functions/Trigonometry Final Exam Exemption: Have an A average all year
Engineering Explorations 1/Robotics Final Exam Exemption: Have an A average all year
AP English Language and Composition: MUST TAKE AP EXAM AND READING AND WRITING SOLs
PLTW Principles of Engineering: MUST TAKE EXAM
U.S. and Virginia History: MUST TAKE SOL
AP Chemistry: MUST TAKE AP EXAM
I have a calc quiz tomorrow and a physics test Friday. I got my chem test back today and got a 94.5/110 (but curved out of 100). I made a few silly mistakes that cost me a lot of points :(.
Also, has anyone’s school been receiving threats from creepy clowns? Apparently, there have been sightings of clowns in the woods across the country who are “kidnapping and terrorizing little children and teenagers”. Literally everyone at my school was talking about it today. I’m pretty sure it’s just a Halloween prank. These clowns would send threats saying when they were planning on visiting what schools and where. Apparently, these clowns are due to visit my school on Columbus Day, but luckily, we won’t be there. I’m pretty sure it’s just a prank, videos have been surfacing on the Internet about it, but I’m planning on staying away from the woods for a while. They already had to close down a school in Ohio and Maryland because of the threats.
One of weaknesses is that my extracurricular activities aren’t so…existent, so I joined the Writing Club that meets tomorrow (Tues), and guess what? I have two mandatory meetings on Tuesday that I just heard about today. One before and one after school. Any of you guys have/had schedule conflicts?
YO there was a clown spotted 1 mile away from me and another one two blocks away. This is getting outta hand! I’I have to walk in the dark everyday a mile to get my bus stop too. It’s a really good thing my dad’s not working tonight, because I’m asking him for a ride to my bus stop tomorrow morning! :)) But for real, I’m probably going to start bringing a large backpack to school. Not only will it hurt my back, but it will also be my primary weapon in the case of a clown attack (I never thought that in my life I’d ever say that)!
@frazzledazzle Subject tests only test high school knowledge. They aren’t supposed to only be accessible to those who took a corresponding AP test. You could take Chem at the end of this year. That’s what I’m doing. Just buy a prep book to go over things your class might not have covered in depth.
@ak2018 Some people though it would be funny to make fake Instagram accounts threatening multiple schools in our district with clown attacks. Some were mild, but others were serious (picture of a gun and warning to students about what would happen if they came to school). Our district had to post on its website that anyone caught doing this could face expulsion and potential felonies. All day people were spreading rumors about other schools being on lockdown. I’m just ready for this to be over. (
@Hamlon They’re doing the same thing here. They threaten to come to a few of the schools in our county. Apparently, they ain’t planning to come to our school because we’re “too white”. I’m just trying to survive this month! I will not die by the hands of a clown! :))
In other news, I just found out I was selected to go to my school’s annual Fall Academic Awards Ceremony! The ceremony celebrates academic achievement of students from last year. It’s on November 17th, I can’t wait to go!
Clown threats have made it to my area, but I’m not worried. My dad and I were laughing about it while watching the news this morning. It just seems so absurd!
I got a 94 on my Pre-Calc quiz, which brought my grade up from a 69 to a 77!! I should be able to finish this quarter with a B-, at least.
Tomorrow we get progress reports, (which they don’t even print anymore, the school just calls and says to go on PowerSchool :P) and I still don’t have a grade in AP Lang! I’m not sure how to feel about this anymore…
@Hamlon I’ll just do that then. I think I’m all set for math II. It covers through pre-calc or algebra 2 and I’m in calc this year.
@ak2018 That’s awesome! Congrats! My school only holds academic awards in the spring and I have to bring my GPA up .09 to make it. Hopefully with (almost) all As first semester I can do so.
I got a 79% on my vocab quiz. Now I’m barely holding a B-. The vocab part of my AP Language grade is pulling me down.
Spanish 2 - 90% - A
Functions/Trigonometry (Pre-Calculus) - 92% - A (Dropped down 1% due to quiz )
Engineering Explorations 1/Robotics - 90% - A
AP English Language and Composition - 98% - A
PLTW Principles of Engineering - 100% - A
U.S. and Virginia History - 99% - A
AP Chemistry - 85% - B
I GOT A 100% ON MY AP CHEM QUIZ! <:-P I legit cried for 2 minutes after getting my paper! :)) It’s really funny because when our teacher said that we were getting our quizzes back, I was going to get a calculator to calculate my downfall. On my way back to my seat, my teacher gave me my quiz. I looked at it and put my calculator away. The quiz was on Electromagnetic Radiation and Electron Configuration. My grade should at least rise from an 85% (B) to an 87% (B+).
Ok, are you guys okay? People are complaining about things like high A’s in classes and super high scores on the practice PSAT. You guys will be fine; I don’t think a 97 in rocket science will kill your application to Harvard.
I’m stressing as well; don’t think you’re alone. I just think some of you guys are pushing crazy.
