High School Class of 2018

Also, yesterday and today were pretty great.

Spanish 2: I’m doing pretty great and we have an oral tomorrow.

Functions/Trigonometry: I have my Unit 2 test tomorrow.

Engineering Explorations/Robotics: We’re finally building our first actual project. We’re making desk organizers. Right now, we’re drawing sketches and coming up with actual ideas. I’m planning on making a design that includes a place to store books, two drawers for random things, a cell phone holder (that allows for accessibility to the charger charger), a place for pens, pencils, and other office supplies and more. I’m still adding more ideas. One of my friends is going all out for the project and is actually planning to make it “as convoluted and as challenging to make as possible”. He even asked if he could add lasers and my teacher just laughed in his face and said no! :)) He’s planning to buy stuff to make it as fancy and convoluted as possible.

AP English Language: We’ve been reading stories and poems by John Smith, William Bradford, and Anne Bradstreet.

PLTW Principles of Engineering: We had our test on pulleys, wheel and axles, and levers as well as retaking our quiz on wheel and axles.

U.S. and Virginia History: The Socratic Seminar went terrifically. I stole the show, as expected.

AP Chemistry: We have a quiz on Photoelectron Spectroscopy and Periodic Table Trends on Monday.

Do you guys get to keep your AP Chem or APUSH quizzes after you take them?

Also, the most awkward thing happened today after school. One of my friends, who is a girl and is also in the same Engineering Explorations/Robotics as I was, decided to go after school and ask my Engineering teach for advice. We got to his room only to find out that the door was locked and that there paper partially covering the little window in the door. My friend and I caught a glimpse of my Engineering teacher SHIRTLESS working out to an Insanity Workout video. :open_mouth: My teacher didn’t see us, I guess he was really in the zone, but after what we just saw, my friend was like “DAAAMMNN!” :)) :)) And then I, being my self-conscious self, said “Why does he have a better body than me?!!?” Seriously, he had a freakin’ six-pack! We finally knocked on the door, after a few seconds to process what had just happened, and he said “I’ll be right there!” and when he opened the door, he was wearing a muscle tank top with the arms cut off. He asked what we wanted and we asked him for advice on our projects. Once he gave us advice, we left and he closed the door. I grabbed my friend and ran as she looked she was to touch the door handle and I was like, “Sorry, you ain’t gettin’ “extra credit” today! (If you know what I mean)” :)) All I can say is, I’ll likely never see him the same way again.

After that, we had a discussion about attractive teachers. My friend, and a lot of the other girls in my class, had thought my Engineering teacher was hot since the first day and I mean, coming from me, a guy, I could kind of see it. He’s looks pretty young and usually wears these really tight-fitting shirts and usually flexes in them almost every chance he gets. He’s told us on a few occasions that he goes to the gym a lot and plays basketball on the weekends. I’m pretty sure he’s trying to show off! :))

There are some pretty attractive teachers at my school. The our school’s new Biology teacher looks like she’s still in college. She even wears stuff from Victoria’s Secret and Forever 21.

Anyway, what’s your guy’s opinion on attractive teachers and have you guys had any? I feel I would be fine with having a “hot” female teacher as it wouldn’t really distract me from my work. It’ll just give me something to look at. :))

@kassh4 I usually get my AP Chem quizzes back about 2 or 3 classes after I take the quiz.

@ak2018 No i mean like to keep to study from

@ak2018 How awkward…I wouldn’t be able to face that teacher without looking away from embarrassment for a while.

@FuturePICUNurse I was talking about the snow not the hurricane
@snowfairy137 oh I totally read that as inches lol-- the two are very different :))
I just always think it’s funny when we don’t cancel school even though there’s like a foot of snow and southern states shut down when it flurries. Like does anyone remember when the city if Atlanta was closed down after they got an inch of snow? It’s just funny to us northerners

@kassh4 Then no, we don’t.

Had loads of freetime in class yesterday, and I’ve got this crazy idea of running for president in 2036. I’ve been making a speech, planning how to resource money, and everything. Gotta keep a clean record in school though, and I’m entertaining the idea of minoring in politics or business.

Remember guys, #CoolCakes 2036

@CoolCakes Did you know that once you become a US President, you can never drive yourself anywhere ever again? Like, even after your term (or 2 if you’re lucky) ends, Secret Service will always follow you around, and you will always be driven around. Just a fun fact haha

@Marg532 Cool! I’ve been doin’ loads of research on presidencies all morning. Did you know that you can check out the President’s daily schedule on whitehouse.gov? I have way too much free-time…studying quantum mechanics (sound more scarier than it actually is) and presidency.

In other news, hurricanes are really scary. I still remember Hurricane Ike; school was cancelled for weeks and the power was out. It was super hot and people were so desperate for water and shelter.

Hurricane Sandy was pretty bad too. It caused a bit of damage to our house and a lot of damage elsewhere.

I think we can all agree Hurricane Katrina was the WORST, right?

Also, due to the hurricane and rain, I will not be going to UVA tomorrow. I’m pretty busy this weekend anyway, so I’m not that bothered by it. I also just took my Unit 2 Pre-Calculus test last period and I’m pretty sure I didn’t get an A. The non-calculator portion was fine, but the calculator portion was terrible. It’s a good thing I can retake the test. That’s why I’m not really scared or bothered by this.

@ak2018 I think on a national scale, yes. But I lived in Pensacola with my mom during Hurricane Ivan and we were severely impacted. The first thing I remember was the guys in our apartment building putting mattresses against our door and staying with us to ensure that we were safe.

@nyuhopeful44 I know! Even Seattle gets shut down over like half an inch of snow, while us regular people on the other side of the state haven’t had a snow day since like 2008 when it snowed 5 or 6 feet.

@ak2018 I remember Hurricane Sandy. It hit the coast of CT pretty hard, but where I am it wasn’t that bad. My family took a walk around my neighborhood once it passed, there were a few fallen branches but nothing major.

I went to an info session about Emerson College yesterday. It has so much internships opportunities, and its located in the heart of Boston! They own several theaters, and students can get rush discount tickets to performances. I’d definitely like to pursue writing there.

My school hosted college reps from 13 colleges around my area, and going in I was only interested in one of the colleges there, SUNY Brockport, but coming out I got interested in another college, Keuka College. It’s private and costs a ton, but there’s lots of scholarships available, both merit and need based. I need to do some more research, but I feel this is a good college to look into!

@FuturePICUNurse Yeah, I meant on a national scale.

I got a 100 on my APUSH test but meanwhile I’m struggling in Pre Calc H and I have a B in AP Spanish now i gotta start focusing in that class.

@BucketsUCSC how is a hundred on an APUSH test even possible. What’s the test format?
We have 13 ish new format multiple choice 42 ish old format multiple choice and then an open essay and either a DBQ or short answer.
