High School Class of 2018

My score from last years PSAT would have qualified me for NM in my state, but I’ve done WORSE on every practice test since then and its really discouraging.

well remember that R and W are weighted more heavily for the PSAT because the selection index is all your subscores added up and multiplied by two

Does anybody know when the Questbridge College Prep Scholar application opens up

Since I’m not going to school today, I’ll probably be doing an M.N.H.C. later tonight.

Anyone else doing their state’s Governor’s Honor Program? I just heard back from my teacher that I’m a finalist and I’m so excited!! I think I have to do more interviews tho which makes me nervous lol

@kassh4 In February. It’s due by March. You should probably ask for recommendations before the app opens, so teachers already have it done.

Samee @snowfairy137

@Hamlon Oh thats a good idea. Idk I’ve never asked any teacher for a LOR or anything I feel like it is going to be really awkward. Oh well i will for colleges so might as well get it out of the way. Do you know how many you need and from what teachers.

Ok, so I scored my practice test. I gave my self two scores.

The first score: My original score right after test.

My second score: I re-did all the problems I got wrong to see if I could get them right the second time (AKA, careless errors). I did this because when I am doing the test at home, I act careless and am not always paying attention as I would in a real exam room.

I got 600 R/W and 710 M. Overall, I am happy with math score because it is 700+, but reading/writing is worrying me. I am going to go hard on Khan Academy for that section before Saturday (PSAT date).

So I got a B on my Pre-Calc test. I’m definitely retaking!!!

My sad grade update:
AP Chem: B+
Honors Precalc: B
AP Lit: B
Medical Interventions: A
AP Physics: B+
AP Econ: A
I only have two As fam

@ak2018 You can retake your Pre-Calc tests when you get a B?! Can you just retake tests regardless of how you originally scored?

@nyuhopeful44 How close are your B+'s to being A’s? I’m sure you can bring those up.

I’ll do a grade update too, kinda in meh position right now:

Pre-Calc: 77 / C+
Financial Literacy: 97 / A+
H Latin III: 96.669 / A
Intro to Marketing: 99.1 / A+
AP Lang: 100 / A+
APUSH: 84.62 / B
Chemistry: 89 / B+

Pre-Calc must go up. I have a GHA due this Friday, which I need to do good on. H Latin III is literally .039 points away from being an A+, which is a bit annoying. :U AP Lang looks good, but that’s because the only grade in is a homework assignment. There is a test and DBQ waiting to go in for APUSH, which I hope will pull up my grade. As for Chemistry, I’m hoping to bring it up to an A-.

I walked into junior year thinking that AP Bio would be a breeze but its definitely the hardest class content wise.

I don’t remember if I ever did a grade report, but here is one just in case:

APUSH: 95
AP Lit: 91
Algebra 2: 90
Human and Social Biology: 100
Music Theory: n/a
Music History: n/a
Gym: 100
Band: 100
Chorus: 100
GPA: 96.57%

For some reason, Mr. M hasn’t put any grades in for Music History and Theory, which is a bit annoying. And I’m happy to have a 100 in gym because my friends who participated a bit more than me in one of the weeks got a 4/5 but I got a 5/5 haha it pays to be friendly with all of the gym coaches I guess. Also, the APUSH and AP Lit grades were without the 5 point weight onto them for being advanced classes. Soooooo, I would actually have a 100 in APUSH (super surprising tbh) and a 96 in AP Lit, and my GPA would be 98%!

I wish GPA was a average of your percentage. I feel like its unfair for a student that got a 100 to get the same “grade” as someone that got a 92.5.

@kassh4 I feel like the grass is always greener on the other side lol. My school differentiates between each grade and it puts me at a disadvantage when applying to select schools because my 4.4 would be the same as a 4.8 somewhere else.

If anyone could look at this and leave me some feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Trying to help others reduce some of the mistakes some of us may have made.

Do all of your guys’ schools weigh your GPAs? Mine doesn’t and it stinks because I have a 4.0 (like a 97 or 98%) unweighted and it would be so high if my school weighted them because I take 4 APs this year and all other enriched classes

I would be fine if they included % on the transcript but they dont. Like i always have had high As in my classes but someone that has a low A has the same GPA as me.

@ks2018 We have weighted and unweighted GPA on our transcript.
