So our school has a Child Development class and they also have a pre-school/daycare. Since Halloween is right around the corner, they are having the little kids dress up in their favorite costumes and go to other classrooms and tric-or-treat. A few groups of kids went to our AP Lang classroom and I legit died of cuteness intake! We are currently playing with the kids as we speak.
I have no idea what I want to major, believe it or not. If anyone asks then I say medical, but I’m waiting until the last couple months before I make a decision lol.
@acomfysofa I cant see myself going into medicine. I dont really like AP Bio and medicine is a huge commitment like there isnt really going back.

I have a quick question: To get the “national AP scholar” scholar award you need 8 aps and get a 4 or 5 on them, and after this year I would have 7, so I wanted to take one more to get it to 8 by the end of junior year. Since I play flute and piano I decided to do AP music theory at a nearby university, but I didn’t realize that it’s usually a 2 year course and it’s a lot harder than I originally thought. So now I’m debating if I should cram it in and do it in one year and risk not getting a 4 or 5, or just take it over two years? Also, if I did do it in two years, do you think I’d be able to say somewhere on my application like “took music theory at university for two years”? any recommendations or comments would be helpful thanks:)

Has anyone ever interned at a doctor’s office/law firm/etc by asking someone who works there specifically and not through a program? I want to ask my doctor if I can intern at her practice and I want to see other people’s experience with that.

@neonerudite I’m an intern in the physics department at a local university. I’m learning about and doing scientific research and am in a research group of graduate students for astronomy. It’s a lot of fun and very intuitive!
So I was looking up some stuff on the two programs I’m applying to (VASTS and VESSS) and found some really information:
- We'll be receiving our acceptance, or rejection, in mid-November, before November 18th, which is pretty early.
- I checked on the VSGC (Virginia Space Grant Consortium) Portal and had seen that 390 juniors had applied to the VASTS. Only 175 juniors will be chosen to participate, but I don't know if that means participate in the online course or the summer academy. If it's the former option, then that means I might not get in, but if it's the latter option, I'll be able to prove my worth.
- So if the latter option (where everyone who applies to the program and meets the requirements WILL be allowed to participate) is in effect, then I will be allowed to prove my worth by doing well in the college class. I believe the top 175 juniors would be selected for the summer academy.
- The class will require 5 hours of classwork-time per week.
- If selected for the program, selected students will be placed online classes of 25 - 28 students to one teacher.
- We will upload documents to their VSGC portal.
- In the course, the students are required to collaborate with each other. Essentially, you cannot really fail the course since tutoring is provided.

I’m now on Triangle Trigonometry in Barron’s Math 2, and so many things are new to me. Functions in general (especially composite functions!), bisector of a line (sounds like the type of question I should’ve been taught, quizzed, or tested on, but never was?), odd and even functions, multiplicity, synthetic division (and I’m not even sure how to use long division with polynomials lol), csc/sec/cot, unit circle, special right triangles, etc.
Obviously the book doesn’t teach you everything since it assumes you already took classes on it. As I’ve only completed Math 10 + Math 11 Quadratics & Inequalities so far, KhanAcademy pretty much works hand-in-hand with this book for me (in-fact, better than my Study.com subscription that I’m going to cancel) to teach these more advanced subjects, and it’s free!

I haven’t even thought about Halloween lol.
I’ve got a 50s costume that goes perfectly with the musical this year (Bye Bye Birdie) and I’m suuuper excited.
